    Guardians of the Galaxy

The full bunch of jackasses
A rag tag, bunch of "losers", who saved the Galaxy from the threat of The Power Stone. Now acting as mercenaries but retain a strong sense of right and wrong.

In General

  • Family of Choice: They're not friends, they're family.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: The Guardians of the Galaxy entered this galaxy as just eight people (the six Guardians, HK-47, and Kraglin), but have formed a new group of Ravagers already numbering in five digits even without their alliance with the Protectors, to the extent that Rocket jokes they’re basically a new army.
  • Ragtag Bunchof Misfits: The group consists of two hybrid celestials, two cybernetically enhanced individuals (one of which is a raccoon), an alien who is very literal, a walking tree, and an ancient robot assassin. Overall, a very colorful group of individuals.

Peter Jason Quill/Star Lord

Species: Human (Earth)/Celestial Hybrid

Son of Meredith Quill and Ego, Earthborn leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

  • Adaptational Badass: In this universe, Quill managed to tap into his celestial genes again. While not a regular combat move, it's more than he had in the regular MCU.
  • Butt-Monkey: Quill might be the leader of the Guardians, but he still gets teased and ridiculed whenever they're not in a tense situation. Even new members like HK-47 tend to take shots at him.
  • Connected All Along: It is revealed that Peter Quill's grandfather Jason was a member of the Howling Commandos for a time, but he transferred to the 101st before the final raid on Hydra.
  • Crossover Relatives: Peter Quill comes to this galaxy looking for another of Ego's children, with his half-sister eventually revealed to be Asajj Ventress.
  • Heroic Lineage: His grandfather, Jason Quill, was briefly a Howling Commando.
  • Interspecies Romance: Half-Human/Half-Celestial Hybrid man involved with a cybernetically augmented Zen-Whoberis woman.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's immature and sometimes a bit mean, but Quill cares for his teammates and doesn't immediately judge others for engaging in less moral activities, as Sugi learns.
  • The Leader: The leader of the Guardians.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Peter Parker is also running around in the Galaxy Far, Far Away. This causes some brief confusion when some of the Guardians first meet the Avengers, even before the two Peters meet directly.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: Quill mentions that before he left Earth he wrote a school report speculating that Captain America was abducted by aliens rather than dying. Since Steve did end up in space and survived his apparent death, Sam Wilson suggests Quill retroactively earned a B plus for his report.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": His reaction to meeting Steve Rogers/Captain America (his childhood hero) in person.
  • You Remind Me of X: Quill's Captain America fanboying reminds the founding Avengers present of the totally dead Phil Coulson.

Gamora

Species: Zen-Whoberis

The deadliest woman in not one but TWO galaxies, adopted daughter of Thanos and Quill's second-in-command. And lover.

  • Action Girl: You don't get the title of "Deadliest Woman" unless you're this.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Gamora basically demonstrates this towards Mantis when she learns that Mantis may be interested in the Mandalorian Fenn Shysa, as she sees Mantis as the most impressionable of the Guardians and is concerned about her future.
  • Interspecies Romance: Cybernetically enhanced Zen-Whoberis woman involved with Half-Human/Half-Celestial Hybrid man.

Rocket

Species: Enhanced Raccoon (Halfworlder)

Experimented on for a majority of his life, Quill's pseudo-rival for leadership and tech expert of the Guardians.

  • Dark and Troubled Past: Seeing the results of Ultron's experiments reminds Rocket of his own "childhood" as part of the experiments of the High Evolutionary.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Characters all acknowledge Rocket's skill in this field; HK-47 in particular notes that he can recommend letting Rocket upgrade equipment.
  • It Amused Me: His justification for why the Guardians keep HK-47 around.
  • Leader Wannabe: Invoked to a degree in chapter 24, as the other Guardians step in to stop Rocket claiming to be the leader of the group to HK-47 as they're concerned about what he might do with an android assassin under his control.

Drax The Destroyer

Species: Unknown

Warrior and most literal member of the GOTG.

  • Blood Knight: If he's not the first who's jumping into a fight, then he's one of the first. Gamora and HK note during the battle against Ultron drones on Mandalore that Drax is gonna be mad he missed it.
  • Secret-Keeper: It appears that Drax is also aware of Mantis being Star-Lord's sister as Fenn remarked how the pair tell each other everything.

Groot

Species: Flora Colossus

Walking, talking tree that speaks in only three words but has a lot to say.

  • Mundane Utility: The Guardians at one point plan to use his ability to manipulate plants to accelerate the growth of healing herbs they've arranged to receive as payment. This has the benefit of making the Guardians' services comparatively cheap to those they're helping while giving them something they can use.
  • Pokémon Speak: His vocabulistics is limited to "I" and "am" and "Groot". Exclusively in that order.

Mantis

Species: Unknown note

An insectoid empath able to sense and manipulate emotions through touch.

  • Badass Adorable: With her new practice in hand-to-hand combat, and her cheery disposition, she's adorable as declared by Hope, but also badass.
  • Crossover Relatives: Asajj Ventress is her half-sister through their mutual father Ego.
  • Interspecies Romance: Mantis quickly develops a relationship with Fenn Shysa, a human Mandalorian. She even kisses him in Chapter 66 because Sugi told her it's a way to "claim her man."
  • Long-Lost Relative: As in canon, Mantis is Peter Quill’s half-sister.
  • My Greatest Failure: Mantis blames herself for the deaths of Ego’s other children, as she focused on her own value to Ego even when she knew he intended to kill her other half-siblings.

HK-47

Model: HK series assassin droid

Class: Combat Droid

Ancient murder-happy assassin droid, rebuilt and recruited by the GOTG.

  • Blood Knight: HK-47 is soon identified as one of these after he joins the Guardians; the team's main concern with him is that he might go overboard if he's not kept in line.
  • Comedic Sociopathy: Freely talks about how much he enjoys killing people, with the Guardians often having to take steps to keep him under control.
  • Last of His Kind: At least believes he's this after the Guardians reactivate him and he learns how long he was shut down for.
  • Power Source: While HK might be self-powering, his metallic structure was maintained thanks to a holocron hidden in his chassis.

    The Black Order

Thanos

Species: Titan

The feared Mad Titan and the strongest being in the universe, bar none.

  • The Dreaded: All of the Guardians fear Thanos, (except for HK-47, who would enjoy the chance to fight him). Even The Son can only express shock and terror at Thanos appearing in a vision of the future he conjured in an attempt to destabilize Anakin.
  • The Ghost: He’s mentioned by some characters, especially the Guardians, but so far the Mad Titan hasn't properly graced the story with his terrifying glory. A vision shown to Anakin by The Son all but confirms that he will eventually bring his war to the Galaxy Far, Far Away.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Is using Maul as his ambassador to the Galaxy Far, Far Away, working to shake it up from afar with his armies. He is also responsible for Gamora's and Drax's traumas and, if the Force Visions on Mortis come true, he's destined to become the Final Boss of the entire story.
  • Knight of Cerebus: While Thanos hasn't even physically appeared in the story yet, his sheer presence through Maul (himself already a major example of this trope) indicates he will bring the story to its Darkest Hour.
  • Last of His Kind: He is the last Titan, as in the MCU Canon.
  • Spanner in the Works: A vision of the future Anakin saw in Mortis implies that Thanos will bring the Infinity War to the Galaxy Far, Far Away in his search for the Infinity Stones.
  • World's Strongest Man: Maul describes Thanos as the strongest being in the universe.
