    Tropes applying to multiple characters
  • Ambiguously Human: Aries, Leo, Cancer, and Sagittarius all look human, but have less human-looking skin colors and retain some visual elements of their namesake creatures. With Sagittarius, it was less ambiguous in the older shorts, where she was more clearly a faun.
  • Dub Name Change: The Japanese dub changes all the characters' names, except for Leo:
    • Aries to Yo-kun
    • Taurus to Moo-kun
    • The Gemini twins to Mittsu (for Gerry, the one with three eyes) and Itchi (for Gary, the one with one eye)
    • Cancer to Sami
    • Virgo to Otochan
    • Libra to Mr. Tenbin
    • Scorpio to Sasuke
    • Sagittarius to Yumi
    • Capricorn to Metan
    • Aquarius to Game-kun
    • Pisces to Gyosshi
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: All of the characters were changed in appearance between the 2016 Flash shorts and the 2018 CG shorts, some more greatly than others. Of note, every character initially had their sign somewhere on their person and most of them had eyes with colored irises before they switched to simple black eyes in the final product.
    • Aquarius/Albert had dark yellow eyes and braces and his sign was on his headband.
    • Pisces/Priscilla had pink eyes, a cyan mermaid tail, the fish tail shape in her hair leaned forward instead of being in the back pointing upward, and her sign was on her earrings. She would be given legs and a cyan dress, as well as a larger mouth.
    • Aries/Aaron had light blue eyes, his hood appeared to be a bodysuit that covered all but his face and had slightly different horns, he had a sleeveless dark green shirt with his sign in a yellow circle at the top and a yellow stripe at the bottom, and his pants were yellow. The bodysuit was removed and the hood left intact, his shirt was changed to a long-sleeved light green shirt, and his pants were changed to red.
    • Taurus/Tiny had a large, round Gag Nose with a bull-like septum ring, his tie was yellow instead of orange with his sign on a pin in at least one design, and he had hooves instead of normal feet.
    • Gemini/Gerry and Gary had their signs on their hats, Gerry had yellow eyes and Gary had a green eye. They were both ovular in appearance, but Gerry was changed to be cylindrical later.
    • Cancer/Candy had turquoise eyes, her dress had a red body and a white bottom with a pink stripe, she wore red shoes, and her sign was on both of her tail holders. The dress was changed to pink with a darker pink stripe and she was given dark purple stockings.
    • Leo/Leonardo's hair was more like a lion's mane, he wore a belt with his sign on the buckle, he wore shorts and no shoes, and he had a Big Ol' Unibrow.
    • Virgo/Victoria had green eyes, her dress was green with her sign at the top and a white stripe at the bottom and covered her legs, and she had brown shoes. She would later wear a shorter white dress with a blue collar and red stockings.
    • Libra/Larry had red eyes and his sign was on his hairpiece, but he was otherwise the same.
    • Scorpio/Scotty had grey eyes and an eyebrow ring and wore a belt with his sign similar to Leo's. His legs were also much shorter.
    • Sagittarius/Sally had orange eyes, one of them obscured by bangs, a red jumper with a green and yellow sash, and brown hooves, and her sign was on her tail holder. She would be given a green tank top and more humanoid legs with brown pants and light brown shoes that give the impression of hooves, her bangs were removed, and her tail holder now had an arrow going through it.
    • Capricorn/Casey had dark green eyes, a dark green mermaid tail, a belt with his sign, and his ears were brown in one design. He would be given legs and would wear lime green pants with brown suspenders and a white hat.
  • Four-Fingered Hands: All the characters have them.
  • Never Bareheaded: Aries, Taurus, and Capricorn are always wearing their respective headwear or another.
  • The Noseless: Almost every character barring a few animals.
  • Significant Birth Date: While the exact dates are never given, the characters' birth dates are shown to be in the month where their zodiac symbol begins, so for example Leo's birthday is in July while the Gemini twins' birthday is in May.
  • World of Technicolor Hair: The only characters with hair of a natural color are Leo, whose mane is brown, Aries, who develops brown hair when he takes on a werewolf-like form in "A Hairy Scary Tale", and both Geminis, who are depicted having brown hair in "Life of the Party". Everyone else has hair that's red (Scorpio), blue (Aquarius), pink (Pisces and Cancer), green (Sagittarius), purple (Virgo), or has no visible hair at all (Taurus, Libra, and Capricorn).

    Aquarius/Albert

    Pisces/Priscilla
  • Drama Queen: Pisces has a tendency to react overdramatically to many things. Something as simple as saying goodbye to Capricorn as she takes a bus home, cutting her finger, or the loss of her phone becomes a spectacle for her.
  • Lethal Chef: If Libra and several animals' reactions to her cooking in "Dinner is Just...Unjust!" are any indication.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She's especially scared of cockroaches, to the point that it's a running gag for her to freak out over one.

    Aries/Aaron

    Taurus/Tiny
  • Big Eater: Several shorts feature him having difficulty sharing any of his bounty with others.
  • Ironic Name: Taurus' name in the 2016 shorts was Tiny, contrasting with his large size compared to the other characters.

    Gemini twins (Gerry and Gary)
  • Alphabetical Theme Naming: Their names, Gerry and Gary, have the letter "G" in them.
  • Can't Live with Them, Can't Live Without Them: The Gemini twins are always fighting over their differences, but they legitimately can't stand not being in the other's company and ultimately care deeply about each other. The message seen at the end of "When Gemi-Bye, Gemi Cry" is "Gemini may punch and they may kick, but being apart hurts even more".
  • Cyclops: Gary has one eye while Gerry has three.
  • The Dividual: The Gemini twins are a Twindividual and are generally referred to as one entity during episode titles and fortune messages, but they're referred to by separate names in the prototype shorts and the Japanese dub.
  • Identical Twin ID Tag: Their designs are the same, except Gerry has three eyes and wears his cap normally while Gary has one eye and wears his cap backwards.
  • Rhyme Theme Naming: The names Gary and Gerry rhyme.
  • Trickster Twins: The Gemini twins are frequently seen pulling pranks on the other star signs.

    Cancer/Candy
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Cancer is ordinarily sweet as can be, but at the drop of a hat becomes enraged and ready to take vengeance on anyone who wrongs her or her friends.
  • Cuteness Proximity: It's established in the prototype "Hugs" that she can't resist hugging the first cute critter she sees.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Cancer is probably the girliest of the cast with her affinity for all things feminine, and she has a pair of pigtails that resemble crab pincers, befitting the species her zodiac symbol represents.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name in the 2016 prototype shorts was Candy. She's one of the sweetest characters in the show, and candy is sweet.
  • Pink Means Feminine: She's as obsessed with romance and fashion as any stereotypical girl would be, and she has a prominently pink color scheme which includes pink hair to complement her sweet personality.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: While this happens with other characters occasionally, it happens the most often with Cancer, with her eyes going red whenever she's especially angry at anyone.
  • Thinks Like a Romance Novel: Cancer is obsessed with romantic media and often finds herself engulfed in her own fantasies about dating a guy, only to be disappointed when the expected soap opera or romance cliché doesn't play out like she intended when she tries to get that to happen in real life.

    Leo/Leonardo
  • Big Ol' Unibrow: The prototype version of him has one. The final show splits the unibrow into two eyebrows.
  • Pride: Leo's defining trait, often overlapping with Attention Whore. For some examples, in "Come Dine with Me", he "dated" his reflection in a mirror, in "Photo Booth", when he had a moment of remorse for accidentally striking Cancer and making her run out of the booth in tears, he became distracted seeing the photos he took of himself, in "Leo Throws a Party", his gifts to his party guests were also photos of himself, and when he was turned into a vampire in "Mirror Horror", he enjoyed the use of his new powers until he saw that he didn't appear in mirrors or photos anymore and freaked out.

    Virgo/Virginia
  • Hazmat Suit: Virgo is shown to own a personalized one in two shorts.
  • Neat Freak: She's depicted owning a personalized Hazmat Suit in two shorts and, after getting glasses in one of them, freaks out seeing germs on everything. When she finds that Aquarius' dishwashers can't get a plate completely clean, she decides to do so herself. In "Unrest in Peace", this even carries over in death, as the only reason her ghost was stalking Sagittarius was because the latter absentmindedly littered near Virgo's grave.
  • Obsessively Organized: To the point of absurdity; in "Virgo Da-Vinci", she resorts to leveling a mountain with explosives to make the landscape look perfect enough for her to paint, while in "Parking Disorder", she takes some time before her flight out of town to rearrange several cars that are incorrectly parked (and then screams in frustration when the plane takes off and she sees that she missed one).
  • The Perfectionist: A recurring theme of Virgo's shorts is her going to absurd lengths to make sure everything is perfect.
  • Token Human: Out of the entire main cast, Virgo is the only one who isn't Ambiguously Human, based on an animal or mythical creature, or an abstract shape, though she still has no nose or ears.

    Libra/Larry
  • Blue Is Calm: Libra's body is light blue and he's the calmest member of the cast.
  • Midair Bobbing: Libra floats in midair and can be seen bobbing up and down slightly.
  • No-Neck Chump: Libra clearly has a proper body like most of the other characters rather than being a cephalothorax, but he doesn't have a visible neck and his head melds into his body.

    Scorpio/Scotty
  • Face of a Thug: Depending on the short, Scorpio's brutish appearance generally betrays his sensitive personality.

    Sagittarius/Sally
  • Fluffy Tamer: In her first starring role of the modern series, she plays with and later rides a shark, and is later shown owning a pet alligator, werewolf, and a dragon.
  • Genki Girl: Her adventurous personality makes her the most excitable of the girls.
  • Master Archer: Sagittarius, befitting her namesake, is very skilled with the bow and arrow.
  • Tank-Top Tomboy: Sagittarius, who has a more wild personality compared to the other girls of the cast, wears a green tank top.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: Wild, crafty Sagittarius wears her hair in a ponytail.

    Capricorn/Casey
  • Determinator: He has a very strict sense of commitment, meaning that if he wants something done, it's gonna get done no matter what.
