Characters / Alchemy Stars Rediesel Wrench

Go To

A disorderly alliance of nomads made up of travelers, adventurers and bounty hunters. With a Lizard Colossus as their mobile base, they wander around the Rediesel Desert with their tattered vehicles, living an unfettered and free life.

General Tropes

  • Chaotic Stupid: Even their most 'rational' members run on chaos as part of their daily life. As the Navigator observes, enjoying life to its fullest is their motto.
  • Desert Bandits: They're based in the Rediesel Desert, and tend to plunder travelers and other factions when they see fit. The Navigator first meets them with the Wrench attempts to waylay them for abduction after Soroz is grounded for want of repair; they intend to ransom the Navigator and scrap Soroz for parts.
  • Drives Like Crazy: The event Go! Race to the End of the World! has them hold a race with no rules, resulting in over half the racers blowing up at the starting line from mutual sabotage, everyone having fun mowing through Eclipsites, Sinsa and Brock dueling each other on top of a moving car, and Azure flying her car through a volcano's low-gravity field while detonating bombs for thrust.

Loose Screws

    Brock
A member of the Rediesel Wrench Suicide Squad. He is a lively, cheerful, self-confident, passionate, and naive guy who is straightforward, unable to hide his emotions, incapable of scheming. He wants to be number one in everything. When encountering an overwhelmingly powerful enemy, he will respect and recognize the enemy, but what he feels most keenly is the competitive desire to defeat his opponent.

Revolver Conflict
Ascended
Voiced by: Yōko Hikasa
Element: Fire (Thunder)
Class: Sniper
Rarity: 6

A cadre of Rediesel Wrench who is also a sharpshooter. She was once a bounty hunter. She is sloppy and doesn't take the world seriously, but shows no mercy to her enemies. No one has seen her without her handcuffs.

  • Ambiguously Gay: Jona regularly comments on how attractive many female characters are and is willing to even flirt with them mid-conflict.
  • Animal Motifs: Snakes, anacondas specifically. She's covered in tattoos of snakes, and they always appear in her the background of her character art in some capacity. Furthermore, official design details shared by her artist show that she has a split tongue.

    Kafka

Super Electron
Ascended
Voiced by: Suzuko Mimori
Element: Thunder
Class: Sniper
Rarity: 4

A Rediesel Wrench sniper wielding a powerful super railgun to annihilate all opposing foes.

    Sork & Bekk
Even within the unconventional Rediesel Wrench, a taciturn crocodile grenadier and a noisy bird sniper would be considered a curious duo. Although they vary greatly in appearance, they cooperate seamlessly and their services are reasonably priced, making them mercenaries worth hiring.

Rediesel Wrench Music Festival

    Barbara
The idol singer of Rediesel Wrench. Barbara looks gentle and nice on the surface but reveals her irritable side when she encounters an overly offensive fan. She travels everywhere to become the most popular idol.

  • Idol Singer: What she is.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The girly girl to Regina's tomboy. As an idol, Barbara works to maintain a cute and innocent image with her music.

    Jomu
A merchant from Rediesel Wrench. A typical money-grabbing trader, he never passes up an opportunity to turn a profit... Even when faced with some tough tasks, his short knife usually does the trick.

    Odi
A Rediesel Wrench tech personnel who is highly confident in her comm tech. She likes to complain and yell at others in the Comm Channel, but she gets flustered when there are problems.

    Regina
Her bold and uninhibited nature, as well as her impulsiveness, are the marks of a true rock n' roll soul! Her fierce musical style made her exceedingly popular within Rediesel Wrench, allowing her to not only inspire troops, but also lead them in a charge.

    Tiny One
A precious talented techie in Rediesel Wrench. Her words may be sharp and frank, but she's always ready to help anyone in need. Despite her small stature, her huge searchlight keeps the enemy at bay.

Canaries and Wild Turtledoves

    Chainsaw Rick
The noisy and crazy short boy who never seemed to stop always has bunny headgear on. He's always pushing his limits in battle and is often misunderstood as suicidal. It's no small wonder that he's still alive.

    Clover
Although she is young, her fighting skills are not to be reckoned with. At first glance, she looks petite and quiet, unlike the other Rediesel Wrench members, or rather, she represents the reliable side of Rediesel Wrench. It's just that when she sees a rabbit, she...

    Joanie Boom
A little girl fascinated with explosions, who gets unusually excited when something detonates. Such madness is a ticket to Rediesel Wrench. As a Rediesel, she spends all her time studying explosives and couldn't care less if her life is ever in danger...

  • Mad Bomber: Loves studying explosives, as well as detonating them.

    Maggie
A member of Rediesel Wrench who is usually in charge of recon work. She is timid, shy, and clumsy, but can't control her great power in battle because she gets too excited. Maggie is quite distressed by this too.

    Rabbie
She may be short, but she's already a captain in Rediesel Wrench. Nimble and agile, she's just like a rabbit that can't be caught, and can be pinned down by very few adversaries.

Red-Eye Gorge

    Eve
Voiced by: Kana Hanazawa
Element: Thunder (Fire)
Class: Detonator
Rarity: 6

Sinsa's younger sister who fell under Eclipsite influence and lost control as a child. She has regained her innocence after being healed.

    Sinsa
Voiced by: Yūichi Nakamura
Element: Fire (Thunder)
Class: Detonator
Rarity: 6

Outspoken leader of Rediesel Wrench who is incredibly close with his members and very protective of his little sister. He is dedicated to ensuring the gang's survival.

  • Anime Hair: Just look at it. "Rooster top" doesn't even begin to do Sinsa's glorious hairdo justice.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He's extremely protective towards his little sister Eve. Considering what Forsakin did to Eve, it's very understandable.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Sinsa does not hesitate to engage in fairly hardcore (albeit noticeably non-lethal) criminality, up to and including literal highway robbery and abduction for ransom, but it's all for the sake of his Wrenches, including and especially his sister, and once he realizes he might just have an even better chance of providing for them by working with the Navigator and the nascent crew of Soroz, he warms to the idea of cooperating quickly.
  • My Greatest Failure: He makes it clear that handing Eve over to Forsakin(Denier at that time) for treatment is what he regrets the most in his life.
  • Super-Strength: He's strong enough to stop Soroz with his hands. Talk about putting a hand-brake, indeed. This is also necessary to wield the oversized wrench that he carries.
  • Wrench Whack: He wields the eponymous Rediesel Wrench as his main weapon. According to its description, it was wielded by the first chief leader of Rediesel Wrench, and that only those who can wield it with ease are qualified to become chief leader.

    Dawn

Rediesel Wrench Explorer

    Rouge

    Azure
Voiced by: Yukana
Element: Water (Forest)
Class: Detonator
Rarity: 6

A free-spirited member of the Rediesel Wrench exploration team who's always worked alone in investigating all kinds of information that might benefit Rediesel Wrench. She was once regarded as a legendary racer.

  • The Alcoholic: She's quite partial to alcohol to say the least. In the episode "Lone Wolf's Rest" of the Desert Lottery side event, she quickly agrees to Jona's patching her up after the latter offers fine alcohol, and once orders a hundred crates of booze (and the Navigator) in her Warm Night Air skin story.
  • Character Focus: Of the event Go! Race to the End of the World!, where she—and the Navigator dragged along for the ride—hunts down a Dragon-type Eclipsite, the Wicked Dragon Hakudoma (as named by Zeta), in the middle of a Rediesel Wrench-run race, the Blazing Rally.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: During the Blazing Rally, Jomu announces the former racing champion as the "Sexy Wildcat" to her great displeasure.
  • Friendly Sniper: She's got a chipper attitude that's at odds with the rifle she carries, one quite a bit taller than she is.
  • Has a Type: Claims that cute boys and the Navigator to be her type.
  • Hidden Depths: Despite being a lone explorer, the Navigator points out during GO!! Race to the End of the World! that she pays attention to her fellow Rediesel Wrench teammates. Moreover, ever since the incident where Rediesel Wrench was nearly annihilated over a decade ago by Eclipsites, and failing to take down their high-level Eclipsite Hakudoma, she gave up on racing for training to never let her family be hurt again, but still comes back to watch the races again and feels insecure over this contradiction.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She ranks high amongst other Aurorians with her low-cut dress offering generous views of her cleavage and thighs, while her Ascended skin 'upgrades' to have a Navel-Deep Neckline. Her other skins get really into this: Warm Night Air has her in a translucent swimsuit with accentuating blue strips covering anywhere but her important parts, the description praising her "alluring" figure before cutting itself off and telling the viewer to control themselves; Tipsy Whimsy is Azure in a typical Office Lady's white dress shirt, pencil skirt and black tights combo—the shirt unbuttoned down to above her waist, her legs getting shown off resting on a table, and the woman herself looking at you with a Drunken Glow.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: She typically acts affable, but in Go! Race to the End of the World!, once she hears mention of Hakudoma, she drops any niceties and reveals her bloodthirst against it.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: To the Navigator, who comforted her twice in episode N8 of Go! Race to the End of the World!.
    • She remarks that the Navigator is crazy to have faith in her keeping him safe during their flight over the volcanonote , seeing as she isn't all for teamwork; the Navigator replies that she pays a lot of attention to her teammates, so of course she would help. Speechless, she then replies, "Huh, how about that. I guess I'm really kind of into you now." to the Navigator's awkwardness.
    • She confesses that she doesn't feel like the veteran the Navigator sees her as, what with her worries over how she'll take down Hakudoma and regrets over letting so many of her people die when it attacked. The Navigator reminds that she's still got Rediesel Wrench behind her, and even if it's just him at the moment, he'll help.
Azure: "I knew I had my eye on you for a reason. You're a good man."
  • Sniper Rifle: Wields a really long one that she easily carries in her original artwork, which appears to be a normal one with a long, blue-glowing barrel attachment. Her Ascended art shows the rifle upgraded further with a new scope and bipod, and a modified barrel.
  • The Tease: She really enjoys teasing the Navigator, as her voice lines and event show. She even kisses him if he gives her a gift.
  • Two-Person Pool Party: She tries to invoke this on the Navigator in her Warm Night Air skin story, "Summer Fever", going as far as ordering him alongside a hundred crates of booze (he was apparently worth 400 crates). She might have gotten away with it were it not for Sinsa and Roy barging into the house.
  • Unknown Rival: Zeta was this to her, especially during the Blazing Rally, though Azure seemed to humor her at least. With Hakudoma hunted and her regrets lifted, she takes Zeta as a rival seriously for the next Blazing Rally.
