Protagonists

    Ouroboros
A mysterious girl who resides in the domain of the Door of Truth. She is responsible for granting Alchemy to those who seek power in their times of need, though her purpose for this remains unknown.

For her playable forms, see here.
  • 11th-Hour Superpower: This is how she appears to people with strong desires that resonate with the Door of Truth and form contracts with them. It is when they're at a critical moment and in need of help, thus motivating them to make a contract with her for an immediate burst of power.
  • Meaningful Name: Her namesake is an ancient symbol of a snake eating its own tail, often acting as a visual metaphor for an Eternal Recurrence.
    • Logi and Dias aren't the first or last to be granted power over Alchemy. In the past, their father, Zeke, was granted this power during the Dawn of Wrath, and in every subsequent main story chapter, Ouroboros gives power to the protagonist of that chapter.
    • In Godless Revolution, it's heavily implied by the Black Knight in Chapter 1 that it's not the first time people like Nimul appeared desiring to change the world using Ouroboros's power, and that it's the reason the world is the way it is now.

    Logi Crowley
Rarity: 2*-5*
Element: Light
Origin: Envylia
Gender: Male
Type: Human, Male
Height: 171cm
Weight: 60kg
Birthday: Jan 11
Blood Type: Type Ki
Zodiac: Moon of the Bright Knight
Likes: Agatha's homemade stew
Hobbies: Looking up at the sky with nothing to do
Illustrator: RINZO
Voice Actor: Natsuki Hanae
Jobs: Soldier -> Holy Cavalier [Caelum]; Holy Knight -> Holy Cavalier+; Honorable Blue Swordsman

One of the protagonists of Chapter 1. A squire of Envylia's most elite knight faction, the Blue Flame Guard, and the natural son of its leader, Zeke Crowley. While he's proud to be a part of this faction, a part of him longs for peace.

Following the events of Chapter 1, he leaves Envylia in shame, ultimately becoming a mercenary for Alvarez in an attempt to find the Sacred Stone Belphegor.

  • The Apprentice: Logi's character quest Blue Flame and Scarlet Blood Tide reveals that in their childhood, he and Dias were taught the way of the sword by Setsuna at Zeke's request. This is because Zeke would rather he did not pass down sword skills that killed men, and decided Setsuna's pure power was far suitable.
  • Cain and Abel: The Abel to Dias' Cain.
  • The Fettered: A very idealistic person, which is something that several people call him out on.
  • Loser Son of Loser Dad: Is this after Chapter 1, now that he's known as the son of the "great sinner", Zeke.
  • Red Is Heroic: Has bright red hair, and is very much a hero.
  • Surpassed the Teacher: In Logi's character quest, Setsuna claims that Logi will surpass her on the basis that he uses his sword for those he loves, as opposed to Setsuna having fought purely for herself.
  • Took a Level in Badass: By Chapter 2, Logi has clearly not been resting on his laurels after the Downer Ending of Chapter 1 and truly masters his sword. In a duel against Edgar with his guns, he tracks bullets still in flight and parries them with just his sword, while his speed makes him hard to hit to begin with. Then when he nearly ate a surprise shot once he gets the drop on his opponent, he still deflected that at point-blank range! And this is without his Phantoms helping him.

    Dias Crowley
Rarity: 2*-5*
Element: Dark
Origin: Envylia
Gender: Male
Type: Human, Male
Height: 177cm
Weight: 63kg
Birthday: Jun 21
Blood Type: Type Qe
Zodiac: Moon of the Dark Magic Dragon
Likes: Agatha and Logi
Hobbies: Sword training
Illustrator: RINZO
Voice Actor: Kaito Ishikawa
Jobs: Soldier -> Dark Cavalier [Wirth]; Dark Knight -> Dark Cavalier+; Pitch-Black Holy Guard

One of the protagonists of Chapter 1. A squire of Envylia's most elite knight faction, the Blue Flame Guard, and the adopted son of its leader, Zeke Crowley. As an orphan from the Dawn of Wrath, he believes anyone can change the world as long as they have power.

Following the events of Chapter 1, he becomes a captain in the Holy Guard and part of the Corpse, with Gabirond as his handler. He eventually finds himself in Lustburg, seeking the Sacred Stone Asmodeus.

  • The Apprentice: Logi's character quest Blue Flame and Scarlet Blood Tide reveals that Dias and Logi were taught by Setsuna in swordsmanship because Zeke didn't want to teach his sons how to kill people, in contrast to Setsuna's style being of plain power. Unfortunately, Dias goes on to reap a number of lives in Chapter 1, including Sabareta and Zeke himself.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Loses control of his right arm after gaining more power from Ouroboros.
  • The Atoner: Implied. After the disaster that is Chapter 1 where he was responsible for killing his own father, dooming Envylia without a ruler, and narrowly killing his own brother and sister, he's since cooled down by Chapter 3 and has learnt from his fall into power-lust, as Lizbeth realizes after seeing the plain wooden shelter he put together for some strawberries in the cold rather than empowering them with Alchemy. The FFXV event story also supports this side of Dias when he has a conversation with the gang over his guilt from betraying his family, most of all his father.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Has it bad for Agatha, and becomes obsessed with trying to protect her when she really doesn't need to be protected. Justified in that he had a younger sister named Yuffie who perished in the war 20 years ago, and doesn't want the same tragedy to befall him again.
  • Cain and Abel: The Cain to Logi's Abel.
  • Meaningful Rename: At some point between Chapter 1 and Chapter 3, he changes his name to Dias Elysion, as if to distance himself from Zeke's name.
  • Might Makes Right: Becomes convinced of this over the course of his half of chapter 1.
  • The Unfettered: After Bertrand's death and Agatha surrendering herself to Sabareta, he swore to himself that he'd attain power at any cost.

    Edgar L. Leonhart
Rarity: 3*-5*
Element: Thunder
Origin: Slothstein
Gender: Male
Type: Human, Male
Height: 180cm
Weight: 65kg
Birthday: May 25
Blood Type: Type Pa
Zodiac: Moon of the Thunderous Emperor
Likes: Ladies
Hobbies: Customizing his bike
Illustrator: Rinzo
Voice Actor: Ryōta Ōsaka
Jobs: Gunner -> Gunner [Scorpion]; Drifter -> Wandering Gunner; Hard-Boiled Man

The protagonist of Chapter 2. A gunman living in the country of Slothstein. He may seem like a sleazy playboy, but he's actually quite hot-blooded, and shows no mercy to womanizers.

  • Batman Gambit: Intentionally pisses off Don Taras at one point, getting him to pull out his rocket launcher and point it at him, just so he can shoot it to kill an Alkaroid with the ricocheted bullet.
  • Dueling Player Characters: Clashes a few times with Logi before the two of them start to work together in the final episode of Chapter 2.
  • Manly Tears: Is prone to bouts of this.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: Wouldn't even hurt a robot with a feminine voice, though he gets over that rather quickly.

    Lisbeth Finn Lustburg
Rarity: 4*-5*
Element: Water
Origin: Lustburg
Gender: Female
Type: Human, Female
Height: 149cm
Weight: 46kg
Birthday: Mar 19
Blood Type: Type Pa
Zodiac: Moon of the Water Guardian
Likes: The atmosphere at Katya's store
Hobbies: Raising strawberries behind the school building
Illustrator: RINZO
Voice Actor: Ai Furihata
Jobs: Apprentice Witch -> Bishop Baptism, Witch -> Witch+, Snow Witch

The protagonist of Chapter 3. A student of the Venus School of Magic, though unlike the noble daughters attending it, she's the daughter of a bar owner, and as such doesn't share the prejudice against men that much of her country does. She's not a great student, but her straightforward and kind personality has let her make good friends.

  • A-Cup Angst: In The Beginning of Seven Wills interlude, she meets Amane wanting to search for Dias. Assuming that she's a potential love rival, she calls Amane a coward for "running away from [her] feelings". Amane shoots back by saying the witch has the figure of a boy, incensing her and calling out on the samurai's figure being no different. This quickly leads into a battle between them.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Upon meeting Dias in Chapter 3, she quickly falls for him and remains that way even after they journey to different countries.
  • Cute Witch: A young girl who's a bit on the clumsy side and complete beginner in magic, at least at the start, but is earnest about everything she does.
  • Genki Girl: Very kind and energetic.
  • Healing Hands: As part of her magical repertoire. She heals all of her enemies after fighting them, except for the Court Mages who would rather die to empower their allies than let themselves be healed by her.
  • An Ice Person: Is skilled in ice magic.
  • Martial Pacifist: For all Lisbeth could mow down enemies with her magic, she'd rather be talking things out rather than fighting, but a lot of the enemies she comes to face are too hostile for that.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: She endeavors to keep everyone alive, not just allies but enemies and mindless monsters like the once-human Bugmail as well. She even makes sure to heal the ones she took down, and presses on with her ideals despite people like the witches and Salomo telling her to kill. By Chapter 3's end though, it's stated that it's because of her efforts that the incident reaped a surprisingly low number of casualties.

  • Seers: Her Alchemy gift from Ouroboros allows her to see the future. This also manifests as her Master Ability, Power of Foresight, which grants a massive to boost to one target for a turn.

Chapter 1

    Agatha Crowley

Voiced by: Yōko Hikasa

Logi and Dias' adoptive sister, taken in by Zeke as a war orphan. She has extensive knowledge of Alchemy, despite not being able to use it herself.
  • Damsel in Distress: She's believed to be this for much of Chapter 1, especially by Dias, when in reality she's traveling with Sabareta voluntarily to try and arrange an end to the war.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She's blonde and easily the kindest and purest character in her entire chapter.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Interrupts Logi and Dias' duel by running in between them and getting impaled by their swords. However, she doesn't die, but instead teleports away to parts unknown.
  • Living MacGuffin: Is a vessel for the Sacred Stone Satna, something she's unaware of until its power awakens within her.
  • Sole Survivor: She's the only heir of the Wratharis royal family, who Zeke took in out of guilt for slaying the rest of her family.

    Zeke Crowley

Voiced by: Dai Matsumoto

Rarity: 3*-5*
Element: Light
Origin: Envylia
Jobs: Holy Knight, Dark Knight -> Dark Cavalier [Zeele], Holy Cavalier -> Holy Cavalier [David]

Logi, Dias and Agatha's father, and the leader of the Blue Flame Guard. He's well loved for his discernment and leadership, not to mention his swordplay. He also made a name for himself during the Dawn of Wrath, mercilessly slaughtering many of Wratharis' soldiers that he earned the name, "Blood Wolf".

  • 11th-Hour Superpower: It's revealed during Blood Wolf by Any Other Name that when he was about to be killed by Neville's Philosopher's Stone-summoned Phantoms, he made contact with Ouroboros (just like his sons did). Despite his hesitance, he made a contract to use Alchemy, slaying Neville that day and later using it to carve a bloody path through Wratharis. Though he has reflected on his actions and sworn not to use it again, he comes onto the verge of using it when Phantom Anastasia has him on the ropes, though the Phantom's unstable body gave out before it happened.
  • Day in the Limelight: Of the Blood Wolf by Any Other Name event story, which tells his past as the Blood Wolf and how Wratharis fell during the Dawn of Wrath.
  • Frameup: Gabirond kills King Patrick and blames Zeke for it, and it sticks, not that the slain Zeke can really defend himself.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: His jobs include Holy Knight, Holy Cavalier, and Dark Knight; the first two refer to his current occupation as a knight of the Blue Flame Guard, but the last is an obvious callback to his time as the Blood Wolf that focused on killing every enemy he saw. Even his two sprite artworks—Zeke in white colors and using a sword and shield, and younger Zeke with a darker palette and a greatsword at his back—reference this.
  • Light Is Not Good: While he's kind to his children and the Blue Flame Guard, he has a dark past for his actions during the Dawn of Wrath and is widely reviled outside of Envylia. After his death, he even comes to be reviled within Envylia.
  • Mercy Kill: In the finale of Chapter 1, he attempts to do this to Agatha, only for Dias to cut him down instead.
  • Red Baron: Blood Wolf; during the Dawn of Wrath, Zeke was so dogmatic in upholding the Magna Code that Wratharis broke that he showed no mercy to every soldier, citizen, or innocent of Wratharis, earning him the title, something that Wratharis' citizens still remember to this day.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: In the last episode of Blood Wolf by Any Other Name, he destroyed Anastasia's accessory to ensure it wouldn't be used to summon Anastasia as a Phantom. That Gabirond asked about it—and Zeke lied about it being lost—made the decision all the more justified.
  • Utopia Justifies the Means: Despite him fighting Wratharis because they broke the Magna Code by using Alchemy in the first place, Zeke excuses his own use of Alchemy to even the odds by saying its for world peace, proceeding to slay Neville, Caesar, and many of Wratharis' citizens. It's only when he caught himself thinking to kill Agatha, an infant at the time, that he realized how far he had fallen in his crusade and took in the would-be daughter.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: He killed all of Wratharis' royal family, but couldn't bring himself to kill the infant Agatha, instead taking her under his wing as his own daughter.

    King Patrick

    Bertrand

    Gabirond

    Sabareta

Voiced by: Masakazu Nishida

Rarity: 4*-5*
Element: Dark
Origin: Wratharis
Jobs: Thief -> Shadow Assassin [Darkness], Hunter -> Ranger [Falcon], Dark Knight

The leader of the Lizard Brigade, a rebellion force trying to liberate Wratharis. He's not above using cruel methods to get what he wants, but he shoulders the responsibility of the rebellion for all of his comrades.

  • A Day in the Limelight: The Lizards of the Lost Kingdom event gives more backstory on the beginning of his rebellion, and allows players to unlock him as a playable character.
  • Enemy Mine: Ends up working together with Logi, Zeke and Agatha to try and find a swift end to the Envylia-Wratharis conflict.
  • Hidden Depths: Has a secret love for fishing.
  • I Am Your Opponent: Confronts Dias in Envylia's palace to buy time for Zeke and Agatha. It doesn't work, as Dias is able to overpower and kill him.
  • Spanner in the Works: Logi and Dias throw a rather massive one into his plans at the very beginning of the story by knowing alchemy.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Him reviving Demons, beings with massive destructive potential that (as it becomes apparent) he can't control very well, is all so he can finally free Wratharis and its people from Envylia.

    The Bloody Trio
The Bloody Trio consists of General Vlad, General Caesar, and General Neville, three members of Wratharis' Royal Guard who fought in the Dawn of Wrath. Of the three, only Vlad survived. He would go on to aid Sabareta in his rebellion, as well as with summoning phantoms of his fallen comrades.
