The Blue King
Blue Knight
The Blue King, and one of the first players of Brain Burst along with his best friend, Red Rider.
- Cool Sword: "The Impulse", one of Brain Burst's Seven Arcs.
- Famed In-Story: Revered for defeating a Legendary Beast all by himself, whereas entire teams can barely make it past lesser bosses.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With the late Red Rider.
- Master Swordsman: His sword style, "Infinite", is one of the most famous in the accelerated world; he's also taught it to the Coba-Manga sisters.
- Named Weapons: His sword: The Impulse.
- Pet the Dog: Refuses to use Judgment Blow on Cyan Pile after the latter defects to Nega Nebulus.
- Red Baron: Known by the tiles "Vanquish", "The Holy Sword" and "Legend Slayer".
- Shoulders of Doom: So huge they can be used as shields. In fact, that's probably what their purpose is.
Executive Branch: Dualis
Koto Takanouchi/Cobalt Blade and Yuki Takanouchi/Manganese Blade
A pair of Level 7 sword fighters and subordinates of Blue Knight. Twins in real life, their avatars have near-identical appearances and abilities.
- Back-to-Back Badasses: Fight in such perfect sync that they can stand back-to-back and strike backwards to catch the other sister's opponent off-guard.
- Beneath the Mask: In real life they're prone to arguing about meaningless things and overall much less intimidating, though Haru can still feel a little of the "disciplined warrior" bleeding through.
- Berserk Button: Being mistaken for her sister or anyone besides her king or her sister calling her by a nickname will set her off.
- Brown Bag Mask: When meeting Haru and Utai in real life, they wear paper bags on their heads to conceal their identities... which lasts about five seconds before they get embarassed and take them off. Haru notes that they're still wearing easily-identified school uniforms and wonders what hiding their faces was even supposed to accomplish.
- Friendless Background: As a result of their identity issues as twins, they haven't had many friends while growing up.
- Humiliation Conga: They were once hung atop Tokyo City Hall by Sky Raker. As a result of that incident, Raker tops their enemies list.
- Iaijutsu Practitioner: Their special attack "Rangeless Scission" is a slash that increases in range the longer their sword remains sheathed. Haru briefly shudders at the thought of one of them getting their hands on The Infinity (Azure Heir's Infinity +1 Sword which does the same thing for attack power).
- Power Misidentification: Haru is caught off-guard when they display a ranged attack, and has to remind himself that they're technically not blue avatars (which are focused in melee) but metallic colours (which have no set pattern to their abilities).
- Samurai: Both avatars look like one.
- Single-Minded Twins: Can fight in perfect sync, and have a tendency to announce things together or finish each others' sentences. One exception is when they go out to eat, where they have a weird insistence on never ordering the same food. Yuki is also more carefree than Koto in real life, though this disappears when they're in Brain Burst.
- Teacher/Student Romance: Both girls are interested in their leader.
- Twin Switch: Since they were only set apart by their Neurolinkers' color, they were able to trade identities by switching their Neurolinkers. Unfortunately, this led them to become confused as to which twin they were.
Other Members
Cerulean Runner
A level 5 Burst Linker resembling a Japanese footsoldier with a short katana.
- Kid Samurai: He seems to have ambitions of becoming a renowned swordmaster, but his avatar is short in stature (with a youthful voice to match) and his helmet is shaped more like that of a footsoldier than a samurai.
- Super-Speed: As his name suggests, he's the fastest runner in the Legion.
Former Members
Cyan Pile
See the Nega Nebulus section.Cyan Pile's Parent
An unnamed Blue Legion member close to the Blue King, who introduced Taku to Brain Burst, as well as captain of the Umesato kendo team. After he used Taku to test out a backdoor program, the Blue King used the Judgment Blow on him, removing him from Brain Burst.
- Deliberately Bad Example: He's shown to be an example of what a parent shouldn't do for a Child. Taku's Master of None build, which is partly due to bad choices made when choosing level-up bonuses, is later attributed to Taku's parent pressuring him to make those choices with little regard for his own wishes. That said, Taku doesn't put too much blame on his parent for how his own duel avatar turned out.
- Foil: To Kuroyukihime. While Kuroyukihime respects Haru and serves as a mentor to him, Cyan Pile's parent treated him as a pawn.
- No Name Given: Neither his duel avatar's name nor his real name are revealed.
- Unwitting Pawn: An unknown individual, presumably from the White Legion or the Acceleration Research Society, gave him the backdoor program to pass along to Taku.
