Kozuki Organization

Formed six years after the Second Pacific War, the Kozuki Organization is one of the newest partisan cells formed to resist Britannian occupation. Based in the Shinjuku Ghetto, the cell does its best to both provide for the ghetto's residents while skirmishing with the Britannian occupation forces.

    Hajime Tanya

Hajime Tanya

  • Creepy Child: Tanya's calm demeanor and precociousness is extremely disconcerting to many who meet her, even before the main plot began. Her ability to write legible kanji at the age of three drove her tutor to call her a freak and quit, and even her mother was weirded out by her behavior.
  • Daughter of a Whore: Tanya’s mother, Aika, was an teenaged "hostess" who was impregnated by an unknown Britannian sailor with an expired condom. After the Britannians invade, Aika extended her services to the apartment landlord to pay for their rent. Despite being frequently drunk, emotionally distant, and overall unqualified for parenthood, however, Aika did her utmost to provide for her daughter, despite Tanya's "eccentricities".
  • Entertainingly Wrong: It wouldn’t be a Youjo Senki fic without Tanya's constant misunderstandings of social situations and/or people's intentions. The only time this doesn't come into play is in her deals with the Six Houses, where her past experience as a salaryman puts her in an ideal position to negotiate.
  • Fantastic Drug: Once stuck in a position of leadership, Tanya's magic becomes this: constant use of mental stimulation spells results in something similar to wartime usage of amphetamines due to her refusal to take any time off.
  • What the Hell Is That Accent?: In-universe. Tanya speaks Japanese in a normal Tokyo dialect, but her lack of experience with English and influence from her previous life mean she speaks with a vaguely German accent. Though she eventually improves, her interrogation of Diethard Reid has the journalist mistake her for half-European.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Tanya retains all the magical ability from her second lifetime, despite its apparent complete lack of a relationship with the Geass. Without a computation orb, this makes her abilities much more limited, but still grants her a terrifying level of physical potential for a tiny half-starved girl.

    Kozuki Kallen

Kozuki Kallen | Kallen Stadtfeld

  • Half-Breed Angst: Kallen has come to despise her Britannian heritage, having to smile and laugh alongside the noble sons and daughters of the same country destroying Japan. Needless to say, this has developed into a near constant state of rage.
  • The Mole: Tanya authorizes Kallen to become this within both Ashford Academy and the Britannian Army Knightmare Corps. This only adds to her stress and anger issues.

Japanese Liberation Front

The JLF are the remnants of the Republic of Japan Armed Forces, entrenched for the last six years in the country's vast mountain enclaves and bunker networks. The current state of affairs however leaves them unable to conduct any major combat operations outside of minor skirmishes and assassinations.

    Maj. Onoda Hiroo

Major Onoda Hiroo

A signals intelligence officer and subordinate of Colonel Kusakabe, Major Onoda is an outspoken patriot who favors having the JLF engage in more aggressive resistance operations. For his sins, he has been assigned to Gunma to train local partisan groups in infantry tactics and communications security, much to his displeasure.

Britannian Area 11 Administration

    Kururugi Suzaku

Kururugi Suzaku

The son of Japan's last prime minister, Suzaku has become convinced that Japan's only hope for freedom is for Honorary Britannians like him to rise in status and power in the new regime and reform the system from within. He now serves in His Imperial Majesty's 32nd Honorary Britannian Legion.
  • Internal Reformist: Suzaku joined the Britannian military in the hopes of eventually gaining the requisite fame, rank, and status to bring about this within the HBE and free Japan. The narrative, however, never portrays this goal as anything less than an utterly delusional dream, especially since the Empire is a multi-faceted absolute monarchy that couldn't care less about its Honorary Britannians.

Ashford Academy

    Lelouch Lamperouge

Lelouch Lamperouge | Lelouch vi Britannia

The brooding Vice President of the Student Council, very few people know Lelouch's true identity as the Eleventh Prince of the Holy Britannian Empire, long thought murdered by the Japanese government. The destruction of his adopted home by the country his uncaring father commands has resolved him to seek Britannia's annihilation.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: He deduces Kallen's identity as both of Japanese heritage and a potential insurgent based on her behavior around the other Ashford students.
