    Q

An elven ranger and the leader of the main characters.

  • Ambiguous Gender: It's left ambiguous if Q identifies as male or female offline, as she has alts with both genders in the game world. Q also could be nonbinary (e.g. genderfluid), comfortable with both.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Q seems totally comfortable having sex with Quinn, her male alt. Since they're the same originally, it indicates they may be bisexual, though it's possibly a special case.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Q appears as a White female elf online, but their alt Quinn is Black. When we see their daughter for the first time, she looks to be mixed race, so Q's actual ethnicity is unclear (as her other parent could be Black instead). This is a very unusual example, as she's essentially split into two people as a result of whatever magic or otherwise caused everyone to get stuck in the video game.
  • Mama Bear: Her entire motivation is to get home for her daughter. She may also possibly be a Papa Wolf since her real gender is unknown.
  • Screw Yourself: Q and her alt Quinn get it on. While initially freaked out, they both end up enjoying themselves.

    Jack

A human rogue and partial comic relief of the series.

  • Character Development: By the beginning of season 1, he's an arrogant blowhard who was pretty much doomed to somebody who puts other's needs above his owns and dedicates himself to helping Q get back to her daughter.
  • I Choose to Stay: Jack makes it clear from the very beginning that he has no intention of going home noting he's more powerful, better-looking and happier here than he ever was in the old world.
  • Just One More Level!: He was (by his own admission) addicted to the game to the point where he starts to have withdrawals from not playing the game.
  • Loser Protagonist: Jack was clearly very much this in real life - or at least he believes so.

    Maybel

A gnome Rogue.

    Steven

A human warrior.

  • Accomplice by Inaction: Steven ultimately sees Q as this blaming her for Brendon's death as she abandoned them when Vanya gave her the choice between herself/V'rugga/Maybel and Steven/Brendon. This is despite the fact that Q did come back for them.
  • Chainmail Bikini: Steven wears an outfit like this as part of his female character. It's really impractical in a real world, and he steals pants at the first chance, which get remade by Maybel to fit, along with a vest.
  • Gender Bender: He was hit with this going from being male to female.
  • Hates Being Alone: He admits this to Brendon as the reason why he has stuck with him despite having nothing in common. It was also the reason he constantly hung out with his dickish bros beforehand.
  • Jerk Jock: He clearly was this before the game.

    V'Rugga

An Orcish enforcer. He's actually an eight year old child.

    Brendon

  • Momma's Boy: He wonders what will happen to his mother now that he is gone.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Averted. When Steven finds Brendon's alt, it's clear that while they are similar in personality, they're no longer the same person and will never have the same relationship with Steven that Brendon did.
  • Younger Than They Look: He appears to be a middle-aged man. He's actually a fifteen year old.

    Vanya

The main antagonist of the series at least until Clint shows up

  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Vanya is a pretty brutal guy with few compunctions, but he seems to genuinely love his girlfriend Sheena, bringing healers in succession for her when she's injured and near death by septicemia. In turn, Sheena is genuinely broken up when he is killed.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Vanya is ruthless in collecting resources and people but he is absolutely right that his strategy helps protect and save people with all the gankers around.
