    Nora Helmer
The titular 'doll'. The wife of Torvald who had to not only borrow the 1879 equivalent of 31,270.42 pounds in modern money from Krogstad, but committed forgery of her own father's signature to do so.
  • Dance of Despair: Does quite the rendition of the Italian "Tarantella" dance. Is this trope because she's stalling for time.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Yes, she committed forgery, but she was saving Torvald's life.

    Torvald Helmer
Nora's husband, and the new owner of a bank. Had a bout of illness before the beginning of the play and Nora had to raise the money for treatment of it.
  • Casual Kink: Apparently is excited by pretending he and Nora were in a secret affair.
  • The Nicknamer: Calls Nora skylark, squirrel, and several other nicknames over the course of the play.
  • Why Would Anyone Take Him Back?: Shows himself to be utterly despicable by the end of the play, considering he throws a tantrum at Nora was the one who saved his life, then turns around and acts calm.

    Christine Linde
A childhoood friend of Nora's. Came to say 'hi' but ends up doing much more.
  • Secret-Keeper: This to a T. She used to have a relationship with Krogstad, is the one Nora blabs the truth about how she got the money to, and by virtue of being a widow, is almost hired at Torvald's bank as she has nothing else left to live for.

    Nils Krogstad
A lawyer that Nora turns out to have a history with.
  • Anti-Villain: Krogstad's desire to protect his children ends up causing a lot of trouble for Nora. He's not a bad guy at all, but he's still an antagonist.
  • Loan Shark: Krogstad, although his methods are rather unorthodox. Also deconstructed. Not only was paying up the last part of the debt more troublesome for Nora than the debt as a whole, but Krogstad turned out to be a complex person with his own motivations instead of a mere money-grubbing asshole.

    Dr. Rank
A family friend of the Helmers, though not their personal physician.
  • Secretly Dying: It's revealed that he's suffering from 'tuberculosis of the spine,' an old euphemism for syphilis.

    Anne Marie
The Helmers' live-in nanny. Quite good at it too.
  • Like a Son to Me: Or in Nora's case, mother. She's just as good with Nora's children.

    Nora's Children
Named Ivar, Bobby, and Emmy. Relatively minor characters.
