Everyone who played the game, especially on the C-64 and its synth chip, has the music theme burned into their brain.
- The "Wanderer" theme is back, and even on Commodore 64, the tune was given more depth and complexity, making the original sound tinny in comparison.
- The menu music was a sedate, thoughtful tune that at once let the player know this would be a more intellectual take on the series.
- The "Shrines" theme was a mystical version of "Wanderer", which played as the gamer visited the shrines and spoke the Mantra.
- The "Battle" theme was far different that the urgent Ultima III version, instead opting for a more heroic, swashbuckling theme.
- The "Castle" theme was a royal pomp and circumstance tune, as the player wandered through Lord British's castle.
- For all the NES version may have had its faults, it didn't skimp on the music. "Virtue Test" is an excellent way to start the game.
