Among 2D Mario games, besides some intentional Call Backs to classic games in music levels, the game doesn't have a Recycled Soundtrack for its Video Game Settings for the first time since New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and the new soundtrack doesn't disappoint and features many great tracks.

  • The new ground theme invokes the same calming, yet upbeat feeling as previous ground themes in the series yet goes for an infectiously catchy A cappella style that makes it stand out. It can only be described as wonderful.
  • The new athletic and savannah themes evoke the same fun, playful and upbeat vibe of previous similar themes and are great remixes of the ground theme.
  • The airship theme is a rocky remix of the SMB1 style Airship theme from the Super Mario Maker series, which just sells how threatening Bowser's Wonder power has made his arsenal.
  • The music for the Wonder effects in Palaces, Airships, and against Mario clones is an epic upbeat remix of the classic Super Mario Bros. ground theme that is perfect for the high tension and chasing sequences where it plays.
  • The music for the Wonder effects for "Dragon Boneyard", "Missile Meg Mayhem" and "Evade the Seeker Bullet Bills!" is as epic as the effects themselves (the fossil dragon coming back to life, Missile Megs flying high up into the sky, and riding a battleship respectively), with a lot of Super Mario Galaxy vibes.
  • The Wonder effect in "High-Voltage Gauntlet" brings back Metal Mario, with a wonderful remix of "Metallic Mario"!
  • Much of the music that comes from Wonder effects that start a music number, especially the peppy and energetic music from "Ninji Jump Party" that makes you almost want to start jumping in time with the Ninjis yourself, King Boo's spooky Danny Elfman-esque opera song from "Light-Switch Mansion", and the catchy "Piranha Plants on Parade" and "A Very Special March".
  • The music for the Wonder effect in "Jump! Jump! Jump!" is a catchy beat that starts slow, gradually speeding up as the blocks follow suit. It's reused in "Fluff Puff Peaks Special: Climb to the Beat", a significantly tougher take on the concept that will make you feel as frantic as the beat near the end.
  • The awesome track played in the Castle Bowser ("Factory") levels, upbeat and foreboding techno-ish theme that perfectly fits its setting.
  • The final boss fight is literally Bowser throwing a universal-scale rock concert, and the music is fittingly thumping rock that captures Bowser's malice while still being a complete jam on its own merits.
  • If you get a game over or defeat Bowser, you're treated to a bonus level called "Bonus: Coins Galore". Its music track is an arrangement of the fan-favorite "Slider" from Super Mario 64. The Talking Flowers even sing along!
