Awesome Music / Oliver & Company

Go To

Given that Oliver & Company revived the trend of Disney making animated movie musicals, it's no surprise that this film has such an awesome soundtrack.

  • "Once Upon a Time In New York City" sets the stage for the Tear Jerker setting, accompanied by soft vocals from Huey Lewis. It establishes Oliver's status of fending for himself while reminding him that things are looking up.
  • "Why Should I Worry?", sung by Billy Joel, is one of the catchiest songs ever to come out from Disney. It solidifies Dodger's reputation as an easy-going dog without a care in the world. Billy gives Dodger some serious pipes, especially in the bridge when Dodger knocks over a stand of sunglasses. In the Triumphant Reprise at the end of the film, the rest of Dodger's gang joins him in singing as they go vehicle-hopping the city streets.
  • "Streets of Gold" is sung by Rita as she and Dodger's gang teach Oliver the ropes. It's incredibly infectious and hard to resist dancing to.
  • Another character-focused song is Georgette's "Perfect Isn't Easy", sung by Bette Midler. It introduces her status as a pampered dog who wants more out of life. It's also accompanied by some cutting-edge 3D effects during her Sensational Staircase Sequence.
  • "Good Company" is heartwarming and adorable. It's sung by Jenny, who makes a promise that she and Oliver will always be friends. The piano accompaniment stays with them as they enjoy an easygoing day at Central Park and later get ready for bed.
  • The most memorable of the non-vocal music is, without a doubt, Bedtime Story. The saxophone solo midway through the song is beautiful.
