Fan Works
- "Descend (1NT3LL3KZ Remix)" begins with some foreboding synths that give you quite a sense of anticipation for about two minutes... then suddenly, BAM! You get to treat your ears to the undisputable best Beatdown remix ever. The original Beatdown pales in comparison to the exhilarating eargasm of awesome.
- An early version of "The Ballad of Jack Noir": The pre-chipbiting version had not only piano but also full vocals, something in no other song back then.
- The reverse of "Clockwork Reversal" is available for free. It was posted as fanmusic first, under the title Clockwork Apocalypse. Speaking of which, the entire fanmusic thread is definitely worth the time to look over.
- Toby Radiation Fox uploaded two songs onto Youtube relative to Homestuck that deserve mention here. One was named StarKind, and the other, Dumbral Ultimatum. The first was inspired from a thread post where a forum member thought the Green Sun card Rose found in her land could actually be used as a weapon. Fox ran with it, and used various music from Secret of Mana to create the song. The second song, DA, was a rough cut of Umbral Ultimatum that sounds just as rocking and frantic as Jade: Enter update page. Starkind was later used in Land of Fans and Music.
- From the composer Eidolon Orpheus:
- "Capricious Clown" - Theme song for Gamzee, who also lacks a real Leitmotif in-comic.
- "The Blind Legislacerator" - Throw in a theme for Terezi as well.
- "Grudgebearer" - Theme song for Karkat.
- There is something to be said about this song when you've played it more times in one day than you have Karkat's official theme song in three months.
- Now that we know about the Ancestors, it feels more like the Sufferer's theme than Karkat's.
- ''Aquatic Aristocracy'' - A baroque, harpsichord-driven theme for Eridan; considerably more menacing than his actual theme song.
- There's also his theme ''Land of Quartz and Melody'' for Aradia's planet, which just plain fits. As does his theme for the Midnight Crew Intermission and the Felt's house, ''Like Clockwork''. The rest of his alternative themes for the trolls are also pretty awesome.
- ''Post-apocalytic Fedora'' is a beautiful theme for fedoraFreak.
- Upward Movement, already an awesome song, cut with Libera Me From Hell. Hells yes.
- MyUsernamesMud, the composer of said mashup, is one of the major contributors to the Fan Music thread. One of his most notable accomplishments is creating music for ALL of the Trolls' session's Lands. His theme for Terezi's Land of Thought and Flow is particularly notable, but they're all awesome.
- From the same mashmaster: When you mix GameBro (from Vol. 6) and Upward Movement (from Vol. 2), two already epic tunes, you get this. Warning: It is recommended that you have an extra pair of pants on hand.
- Radiation did his own take on Libera Me From Hell. AND IT IS AWESOME.
- Thought Descend couldn't get any cooler? Try Descend — Pianokind.
- Before you catch yourself thinking, 'hmm, some of those notes sound a bit off', it should be noted this particular performer plays most of these piano covers by ear.
- Followed up by the equally impressive Umbral Ultimatum.
- From that same pianist, MeGaLoVania and The La2t Frontiier.
- LHS Percussion Ensemble - S'burban Jungle. It's not perfect, but still: Homestuck music live, in public! It gets better. Listen to it and try calling it inferior to the original.
- The same musician has also arranged Sarabande for String Orchestra, and made the already heartbreaking melody breathtaking.
- Crew Like Mine - Spades Slick in a hilarious rendition of "Friend Like Me".
- White King - An epic chiptune, with a bit of "Sburban Jungle" mixed in near the end.
- Pediatrician, a fanmade remix of Doctor that is absolutely bass-tastic (not to mention all the other sections from all the kids' instruments - even beatboxing!).
- AutoDevote is a fairly obscure musician, who has done quite a few Homestuck fan-pieces.
- He is responsible for "Downtime" in the Land of Fans and Music.
- A music video of Schrodinger's Session was made on Youtube. The quality could be better, but the synchronization is just beautiful.
- Irradiated is simply fantastic, as is the animation that goes with it.
- This cover of Flare is almost flawless.
- Some may have seen Hussie recommend Savior of the Slammin Jam, a surprisingly good mashup of Savior of the Dreaming Dead with the infamous Space Jam. However, SlammaLoVania, another mashup of the latter but with MeGaLoVania, arguably is even more awesome. Both are actually pretty good - even in a non-ironic way.
- A Percussion Arrangement of Explore makes the song even more charming and relaxing.
- Elegy for a Thief is a fitting send-off for the troll we loved to hate. Also comes in even sadder piano flavor! Now cracks a noble pump biscuit. Good day, sweet Thief, and flights of Seths sing thee to thy rest.
- Belt of Venus is a beautiful song from the fan adventure Team Paradox. Advanse is fantastic as well.
- Hanyuudesu adds amazing lyrics to Pyrocumulus, Three in the Morning, and several more.
- Her lyrics to Derse Dreamers, which is sung from Rose's POV before she and Dave become god tier.
- Her lyrics for Flare are simply gorgeous, and heartbreaking.
- Who Mourns For Jack Noir? You will after hearing how emtionally strong this piece is.
- The appropriately titled The Happiest Homestuck Song Ever. While the sound editing isn't the best in the world, you'll be too busy smiling to care.
- Although it's only considered fan music as long as it doesn't show up on any future albums, Radiation's themes for both Her Imperious Condenscension and Meenah are both great, if short, tunes. Meenah's has been remixed into Hate You.
- This Remix of Beatdown will have you moving in your seat.
- PhemieC's folk songs are flat out fantastic, especially with their simple yet effective guitar playing over the haunting vocals. Just look at Ugly Story (a song about Eridan), Made of Death (about Aradia), and Friend, Leader (about Karkat's relationships with Gamzee and Terezi, as well as the trolls as a whole). They've done songs for just about every single one of the trolls, as well as other characters in Homestuck.
- Wrath and Angels is an epic four-part orchestral composition that encapsulates the character of Eridan masterfully.
- The Condescension Song is an amazing cover of Oogie Boogie's song from The Nightmare Before Christmas sung between the Condesce and Dirk. The lyrics are just perfect, and you'll never be able to unhear this as the Condesce's voice. And then someone decided to make an animated clip of the song... And it's awesome.
- It's You is a brilliant, heart-warming song thanking the fandom for everything they've done. It's impossible to listen to without feeling proud to be part of the community!
- This fandub of Lights by totalspiffage is gorgeous and emotional.
- Pretty much everything that user has done is amazing. This song is especially heartbreaking, in light of what we know about Mituna and Latula.
- Calliope (Call For Me) also by totalspiffage is heartbreakingly beautiful.
- "The Dream He Dreamed" (Les Miserables parody). The Dolorosa sings a song about her adopted child and how she can never see him again.
- Someone discovered Radiation's secret and awesome ensued.
- Any song from cantabileGato is downright awesome, especially the ones of Karkat.
- Will Ascenzo, the composer of Colours and Mayhem's Rust Servant, Teal Hunter, and Violet Mariner, released an EP containing six sweet remixes of his C&M tracks. The crown jewel of the lot is indisputably the title track, Rust Apocalypse, but they're all worth a listen.
- This orchestrated version of MeGaLoVania is nothing short of kickass.
- Behold! A ZUN-style remix of Beatdown! (Alternate link, for those who don't have a Niconico account.)
- Homestuck: The Musical covers all the events that leads up to Cascade, with fully original music and great casting. In several acts and parts, definitely worth the watch.
- Karkat Sings Opera. Karkat's speech from John and Dave: Respond to memo, set to "Largo Al Factotum" from The Barber of Seville. And it is glorious.
- "Pseudumbra Fauxtasm" is a fanmade remake of the unreleased "Penumbra Phantasm", originally posted on a prank preview of Volume 10, posing as the real "Penumbra Phantasm". And it's so good that it could easily pass for the real thing. The full version of the song will be released on Land of Fans and Music 4.
- A Murder of Daves is a rearrangement of Davesprite, and god damn if it isn't awesome.
- If you enjoyed "Lilith In Starlight" from Homestuck Volume 10, you'll also enjoy Mother, Malcolm Brown's previous go at it (Note: This is not the same as the "Mother" track from One Year Older, despite the name). Still a remix of Aggrieve and Kanaya's theme, with a touch of Harlequin and Black Rose Green Sun. For some reason it manages to sound both romantic and deliciously evil.
Homestuck for the Holidays
- Motherfucking. Christmas. Album. The fact that it exists alone is a Heartwarming Moment.
- Frost + Carol of the Bells = Absolutely amazing.
- Let it Snow. Who knew the Midnight Crew could cover Christmas songs so well?
- The SBaHJ themed Shit, Let's Be Santa. A dreamy synthpop love song, replete with references to the conksuckiest webcomic of all time? Hell yes.
Land of Fans and Music
- Nearly all of the Homestuck Gaiden release Land of Fans and Music is awesome, much of it filled with leitmotifs from the comic with original songs that are just as amazing.
- Jack and Black Queen, a duet that perfectly captures the kismesissitude of Jack Noir and the Black Queen.
- MyUsernamesMud'sLand of Wrath and Angels was so good that it made it onto the Land of Fans and Music album.
- Moody Mister Gemini, by Eidolon Orpheus, a fun lounge tune that totally captures the feelings of our favorite Mister Gemini.
- Beginnings (Press Start to Play) brings forth the most beautiful senses of nostalgia.
- Growin' Up Strider has so much potential to be Dave's walkaround theme, it's not even funny.
- The Drawing of the Four includes, but is not limited to, a violin version of Beatdown. It's exactly as cool as it sounds.
- Try not to laugh while listening to Nakkadile, SadoMasoPedoRoboNecroBestiality, or Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff Show.
- Like all of sober Gamzee's themes, Joker Strife is absolutely terrifying... yet awesome.
- Crystalanachrony is a catchy, peppy melody to add to the Crystalanthemums remix family.
- Ruins of Rajavihara, a calm and haunting melody.
- MeGaDanceVania is a remix of 20 different Homestuck songs, all mixed together in an awesomely upbeat song. This remix ups the catchiness level of every single one of them by about 100%.
- Emissary of Wind. The melody and rhythm are amazing.
- Heir-Seer-Knight-Witch is a medley of orchestral arrangements of each kid's Land theme.
- The song Final Stand definitely lives up to its badass name.
- Growing Up is a medley of Homestuck songs that also happens to include "How Do I Live" - unironically the most beautiful cover of that song.
- A Trance remix of Doctor that keeps close to the haunting feel of the original while putting its own flavor on it? Hell yes.
- Dance Of The Wayward Vagabond sounds like it belongs in an old cartoon.
- The Land Of Wind And Shade. Just...that guitar.
- On the subject of Land themes, Land Of Quartz And Melody and Thought And Flow are both great in their own ways.
- Downtime is a mash-up of a haunting piano refrain with an intense electronic battle theme. And it is awesome.
- Midnight Spider is a jazz remix of Spider's Claw, played on the saxophone. A thrillingly energetically hardboiled song for that most divisive of trolls.
- MeGaLoVaniaC. ROCK OUT!
Tomb of the Ancestors
- Spider8ite, a Mindfang song, is very fitting, especially with the choir. The bonus track remix Spider8ite (Thief of Lounge Mix) is awesome in its own regard.
- Just listen to those strings and those beats in wwretched wwaltz. Also the utterly amazing piano in the second half of the song, and the incredibly badass trumpet ostinato in the first.
- The piano melody in ETERNAL SUFFERING is just gorgeous. Not to mention how much fun it is to shout "THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" along with it.
- Immaculate Peacekeeper. The theme for the Dolorosa fits her perfectly.
- Talk about epicness en-coaxed in epicness enshrouded in epicness. twoward2 the heaven2 is fast, rich, loud, and tough.
- R3DGL4R3. The percussion is indescribable.
- Speaking of percussion, pawnce! has a very cool tribal beat.
- SUBJUGGLATION has an intense beat, creepy laughter, and just seems to fit the Grand Highblood perfectly.
- aN UNHOLY RITUAL, and its mix of tribal feel with Spider8ite.
- 0_0 is eerie, spacey, with electronic elements that make you realize the full extent of the Handmaid's influence. Perfect for the accomplice to the indestructible immortal demon.
SBURB OST
- Waiting For Adventure, the loading screen theme, is a fittingly awesome Bowman song to kick off the album.
- SBURBan Prelude is a wonderful piece of what can only be described as classical synth. It sets the tone of Sburb well.
- Ignorance is Bliss is a catchy little piece very clearly inspired by Animal Crossing.
- Dawn of the End is just an amazing piece with some nice buildup.
- Overly Ostentatious Ogre is a nice, light tune with hints of something more powerful behind it rising up here and there.
- On Golden Dreams and Amongst Smiling Faces are so perfect for Prospit, it's not even funny.
- Similarly, Planet in Shadow is an amazing song for Derse.
- Outer Reaches is a nice Mario Galaxy-eqsue piece, followed by the Metriod-y Inner Depths.
- CumuloSeerus is a calming, uplifting piece with a nice beat to it.
- Resurrection brings back nice memories of god tiering.
- The Will to Fight Further keeps coming back for more.
- Endgame Execution is a Dancing Mad/Rex Duodecim Angelus homage in four parts, each more awesome then the last.
- Higher Hopes is a memorable, well orchestrated victory theme.
- Gods of the New World is mind-blowingly beautiful and epic. If any fan song deserved to be made canon, this was it.
Land of Fans and Music 2
- Dance-Stab-Dance is basically the sequel to MeGaDanceVania and in true sequel fashion is even bigger (35 songs, 11:12) and better.
- We Won't Wander Alone is an incredibly sweet love song dedicated to WV and PM.
- CR1M1N4L, CR1M1N4L, a theme for Terezi from the lady who brought you "Temporal Shenanigans".
- Alphamatic Replacement. It's such a shame it wasn't picked for the contest, because it is EPIC. At least it got its chance to shine on LOFAM 2.
- Nevermore (Can't Sleep, Crows Will Find Me) is a chilling and wonderfully creepy soundtrack to Dave's dream that fits the mood perfectly.
- The Dance of Oblivion is nothing short of awe-inspiring, perfectly remixing Dance of Thorns and At the Price of Oblivion, as well as several other songs.
- Brofessor Layton, a mix of the Professor Layton theme and GameBro which is about a thousand times better than it has any right to be.
- Doctor is remixed again, this time into the undeniably awesome Satellite Physician.
- Ave Dei Novi is Latin for "Hail the New Gods", and the song admittedly manages to be pretty godly.
- Showtime [End Strife Remix] is just epic.
- Psychedelic Psychodelic is a fantastic mix of a wealth of themes to create music for a battle between Lord English and Jack Noir.
- For all the Doctor Who fans in the fandom, the track I'm the Doctor will immediately cause you to explode with glee. Doctor + Doctor Who Opening Theme.
- Fighting Spirit and Fighting Spirit Second Form combine sixteen different pieces from the bandcamp site together incredibly well to make an awesome chiptune piece.
- Sports manages to turn Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff, of all things, into terrifying.
- Who Mourns For Jack Noir? You will, after hearing this song.
Land of Fans and Music 3
- Keeping up the tradition of a dancified medley on each LOFAM album, Emissary of Dance is the most varied of the three. This time the component tracks (36 of them!) include fan songs, many of which are listed on this page as awesome in their own right.
- From the composer who brought us "Infinity Mechanism", let us direct your attention to "The Metamorphosis of Rose Lalonde". Despite being just short of ten minutes long, it never gets repetitive.
- Like most Vriska themes, "Sign of the Scorpion" quite simply rocks out.
- "Cold Steel" takes Frost (from Volume 6) and remixes it into a highly danceable, driving electronic tune that wouldn't be out of place in an Eternal Engine level.
- This remix of Sburban Jungle is perfection.
- "Electric Fireflies" manages to put so many feels in it. It not only captures darkness, but also has relatively light parts, and has a sad feel at some parts. It also has a feel of captivity. In addition, "Fortune Healer" can be seen as the opposite of it. The sad feel to it is replaced by a determined one, the captivity by freedom, and generally sounds a lot more happy and pure.
Beforus
- The Beforus Album, with 82 tracks, is an official fan overture to the dancestors of the troll session, giving us plenty of tracks and fanart and even a hilarious parody or two. It also happens to have the most songs of any Homestuck album ever published, canon or fan-made. Yeah.
- "Breathtak1ng" is a relaxing mostly acoustic song with a dreamy feel that is a perfect fit for Rufioh.
- "The Mituna Method", named after a theory of Bladekindeyewear, has a nice rhythm: fast, but not too fast.
- An instrumental version of "Let Me Dance, Let Me Glisten" is just as awesome as the original song itself.
- "R4d1c4l!" seems as though it should be a lot faster, but it becomes awesome instead.
- "Salv8tion" is surprisingly calming while also fittingly ominous.
- "The Sylph is In" is just delicious with its catchy tune and calmness, making perfect background music for a little shop of some sort.
