The Film
Blofeld accounted for everything except for those damn ninjas!
- It has ninjas. led by James Bond. Attacking a giant Volcano Lair to save the freaking world. If that's not awesome, what is?
- Speaking of that Volcano Lair... It's probably Ken Adam's greatest achievement, at least in The '60s (the sets of The Spy Who Loved Me were the only ones to rival that later on). It cost more than $1 million dollars (more than the whole of Dr. No cost, in fact), was 45m tall and had both an operational monorail and a working helipad, and the ability to raise and lower the Bird One model to simulate the rocket launch.
- Bond takes on twenty times his number of thugs
. Would've been better if he had won, though...- There was one ninja who successfully kept a whole bunch of mooks at bay with a sword.
- Tanaka gets one by proxy, for calling in the helicopter to take out the carful of Mooks chasing Bond. Electromagnets are involved. That is all.
- Little Nellie. I'd do just about anything to have one of those.
- The movie's best known moment isn't any of its elaborate action scenes, but simply the reveal of Blofeld's face, which had been teased in two previous films.
- Off-screen: Cameraman Johnny Jordan had a harrowing accident during the Little Nellie aerial stunt filming. Jordan, hanging from a helicopter, lost his foot when another helicopter below flew too close and sliced it off. Fortunately, his pilotnote had a safe landing. After months of recovery back in England, Jordan went back to shooting aerial stunts just like he used to. In fact, he shot the aerial skiing scenes from On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
- Bond fought a huge mook played by Dwayne Johnson's grandfather.
- Tiger saving Bond's life by throwing a Shuriken to Blofeld's gun arm.
- Who wrote all this awesomeness? Roald Dahl. That's right, Roald. Freaking. Dahl.
The Novel
- Bond finally avenging Tracy and killing Blofeld by defeating him in a sword fight and throttling him to death.
