Moment Subpages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned.

Part 1

  • The entire fact that after the show was forced to leave Korra and Asami's Relationship Upgrade so notoriously vague, Mike and Bryan were then able to make a comic continuation which lays out in no uncertain terms that yes, the show's hero is now in a same-sex relationship. It's especially satisfying given the large amount of people who tried to deny it was really there against all Word of God.
  • Tokuga's backstory. After Kuvira's attack destroyed downtown Republic City and scattered the bending triads, he took advantage of the situation to take over the Triple Threat triad before forcibly recruiting members of the other triads into it, with the result that he now has an army capable of threatening the Air Nomads.
    • And then there's his introduction. The Triple Threats are taking a pasting, then Tokuga joins in and singlehandedly turns the tide of the battle. Special mention goes to him sheathing his hook swords...in order to start chi blocking people. Before long he's taking out the opposing triad members left, right and center.
    • At the start of the fight, the leader of the rival Triad demands Tokuga surrender, and his response is to tell her "Make me." before joining the fight. After single-handedly turning things around, the Creeping Crystals' leader is now at Tokuga's mercy and he demands she surrender.
      Jargala: Make me.
      Tokuga: With pleasure, Jargala.
Tokuga raises his swords to deliver a Coup de Grâce.
    • Jargala is only saved because the anti-Triad taskforce shows up right then and the gangsters are forced to all flee.
    • The fact that Two-Toed Ping fears for his life after giving up the above information speaks volumes about Tokuga's reputation and ability.
  • Korra puts all her hard lessons over the course of the show to good use with a Rousing Speech to the displaced Republic City citizens, about how they can all make a new age of the world together.
  • From the battle at the spirit portal:
    • Ghazan's lava shuriken makes its return, with Bolin using it to slice the hooks off of Tokuga's swords before he could finish off Mako, right after the gang leader told him he'd need bigger rocks.
    • Though it could also be interpreted as her being given the Distress Ball, the shot of Asami being knocked over by a stream of water while facing off against three triad members raises an interesting question; just what did this nonbender woman do that convinced three people with Elemental Powers that it was necessary to gang up on her?

Part 2

  • Mako bending away the explosion on Tokuga's warehouse despite his injured arm.
  • A non-action scene, but Asami not only facing down the Creeping Crystals, but stealthily slipping on her shock glove and being ready to use it if Jargala hadn't decided to leave.
  • Doubles as Funny, but Zhu Li giving Varrick a Death Glare to give her a massage. Extreme Doormat no more!
  • Essentially everything Tokuga does in this volume:
    • Chokes a skeptical Zhen into obedience while monologuing about his vision for the Triple Threats taking over the city with as the task force seems to close in on them only to find the room filled with dummies, explosive dummies that would've killed the group if not for Mako's firebending.
    • Sent Team Avatar on a wild goose chase to his enemy Jargala's hideout by having the Triple Threats' earthbenders leave boulders all over the Future Industries' office, so by the time Team Avatar finds the real culprits, they're armed with Earth Empire weapons and equipment.
    • Uses his new form to give Korra a run for her money and when she goes into the Avatar State does he push his luck? No, he reveals a captive Wonyong Keum and Asami hovering overhead in airships out of the team's reach so that they'll have to let the Triple Threats go or the hostages die. Damn, he's good!

Part 3

  • After serving as a Damsel in Distress in the last two parts, Asami proves herself to be just as awesome as Korra:
    • Forced by Tokuga to build an airship-mounted gas weapon, she instead rigs the entire thing to go off INSIDE the airship, meaning that the triads would have been screwed if they tried to use it.
    • And after this plan is unknowingly jeopardized by Tokuga bringing Asami and Keum onto the airship with him, Asami just works out a way for her and Keum to grab a pair of gas masks, and takes advantage of her position on the airship to set off the gas herself, taking out everyone besides herself, Keum and Tokuga. Really, if Tokuga didn't turn out to be immune to the gas, Asami could probably have foiled his plan and rescued herself and Keum without Korra's help.
  • While there was never much doubt given Raiko's unpopularity, Zhu-Li becomes President of Republic City!
