Awesome / Stargate: The Ark of Truth

• The scene in Stargate: The Ark of Truth in which Teal'c, Left for Dead when the rest of the group are captured by the Ori, walks all the way down the mountain with a decidedly unpleasant blast wound in his back using an Ori staff weapon as a walking stick, collapses just outside the City of Celestis, rises again and pushes on. Sure, he had some help at that point, but getting inside the Path of Origin equivalent of the Vatican by himself? Badass.
  • This scene leads to the curious situation of a moment of Fridge Logic being a Moment of Awesome: the audience doesn't question how Teal'c gets into what must be the most heavily guarded building in two galaxies because he's Teal'c: it's what he does. To Elaborate... This wasn't just his previous demonstrations of Badass in the opening of a movie, or for one or two seasons. The man has been doing this for ten seasons of Stargate SG-1 (and will chronologically have another such moment later on Atlantis, which was released first but set later). This is literally what we've been watching Teal'c do since we met him. How many other characters in any series or movie have that much background to justify something like this?
• Adria finally meeting her fate, courtesy of Vala distracting her long enough for Daniel to activate the Ark and for Teal'c to shoot the table leg the Ark was on, causing it to fall to the ground in just the right direction to flip open right into the Doci's face as he reflexively looks up at the noise and gets a faceful of Brainwashing for the Greater Good. Cue a Pillar of Light reminiscent of upside-down Rays from Heaven visible all the way from outside Celestis as Adria gets Brought Down to Normal (by Ascended standards).
  Adria: No! You can't take away my power!
  (the Ark slams shut, leaving the Doci kneeling with a face of stunned horror)
  Vala: ...I think we just did.
  Adria: You will all burn in the fires of eternal damnation!
  Morgan: (appears in the doorway) Not if anything I have to do with it.
  Adria: (smirks) You're no match for me.
  Morgan: (smirks back) I am now.
  (Adria stops smiling)
• Teal'c's speech to Tomin deserves quoting in full for just how well it sums up his character arc:
  Teal'c: Nothing I have done since turning against the Goa'uld will make up for the atrocities I once committed in their name. Somewhere deep inside you, you knew it was wrong. A voice you did not recognise screamed for you to stop. You saw no way out. It was the way things were; they could not be changed. You tried to convince yourself the people you were hurting deserved it. You became numb to their pain and suffering. You learned to shut out the voice speaking against it.
  Tomin: There's always a choice.
  Teal'c: Indeed there is.
  Tomin: I chose to ignore it.
  Teal'c: Yet you sit here now.
  Tomin: I sit here... and I cannot imagine the day when I will forgive myself.
  Teal'c: Because it will never come. One day others may try to convince you they have forgiven you. That is more about them than you. For them, imparting forgiveness is a blessing.
  Tomin: How do you go on?
  Teal'c: It is simple. You will never forgive yourself. Accept it. You hurt others, many others. That cannot be undone. You will never find personal retribution. But your life does not have to end; that which is right, just, and true can still prevail. If you do not fight for what you believe in, all may be lost for everyone else. But do not fight for yourself. Fight for others, others that may be saved through your effort. That is the least you can do.
• For those of us who watched the original film years ago and have followed the series since. Naturally, hearing David Arnold's full Stargate overture for the first time since the first film can be quite moving.
