- The sheer fact that Rifts has a setting where literally anything can happen deserves a mention. Imagine, if you will, walking into a city with your best buds: a towering juggernaut in power armor, a powerful mage that blends magic and technology and a literal honest-to-god dragon. A fight breaks out with some thugs who pull out some mega damage guns and nearly blow you all away before your buddy in the power armor introduces them to his little friend and turns them into a pile of burnt ashes. After resupplying you head out on a mission to hunt some vampires armed with energy blasters that have been attacking the locals. Once that is done you and your crew decide to head over to the recently risen lost world of Atlantis for some change of scenery. Once everyone heads out to you next destination you get side tracked and end up millions of light years away in an entirely different galaxy. Things get pretty tense but you make it back home just in time to get caught in a skirmish between a totalitarian army of human supremacists and some weird looking things that crawled into your world from a different dimension. You help settle the fight and retire with the spoils of your conquest at the local bar where you trade stories with other people just as crazy as you. To most works a series of events such as these would be the subject of an epic, a legend or an entire ongoing story arc. To Rifts? It's a pretty typical afternoon.
