Super Mario Strikers

  • Any time you pull off a Super Strike, and even more so if you make it a "perfect" Super Strike.
    • The opening has Mario score a goal by kicking the ball hard enough for it to set on fire and push the Kritter goalie to the back of the net. Every character can do this as long as you make a "perfect" Super Strike.
  • In general, just how emotive the characters are in this game. This is probably the only Mario spin-off that doesn't use the same familiar voice quips that longtime fans are used to hearing, plus everyone shows off how expressive they can be if they were allowed to show more than the bare minimum of their personality in a non-RPG Mario title.

Mario Strikers Charged

  • The opening cinematic. Perfectly gives an idea of what you’re in for. This is how the Mushroom Kingdom does soccer. And it’s backed up by the absolutely metal Sudden Death theme!
    • The fact that due to the arena walls being electrified, players enter by jumping down from a lightning airship generating the storm!
  • The Mega Strikes in general. It says a lot of the main cast that to score a goal they can jump to ridiculous heights (except Petey Piranha, whom, being a boss, has shown that ability plenty of times) and kick or otherwise strike the ball hard enough for it to physically split into 3-6 equal balls. At least half of which with Glowing Eyes of Doom to boot.
    • The trail of fire following his jump notwithstanding, Mario's is a variation of his Metal Mario form from Super Mario 64 that, in a rare aversion of Clothes Make the Superman, doesn't require a Power-Up.
    • The Mega Strikes are put together in this video. Combined with the Starman theme, these really show what kind of power the characters are truly capable of.
    • Special mentions go to:
      • Mario kicking the ball with The Power of the Sun.
      • Peach becoming a pure and winged deity.
      • Luigi utilizing electric powers to move the ball around him, before forcing it forward without even touching it.
      • Wario inhaling the ball and subsequently self-destructing while launching the ball.
      • Bowser looking absolutely monstrous as his claws and spikes grow insanely larger.
      • Diddy Kong meditating without even touching the ball once.
      • Daisy getting a crystal boxing glove and punching the ball instead of kicking.
      • Waluigi striking the ball with a thorn whip.
      • Donkey Kong becoming a thunder god.
      • Yoshi becoming a hothead and inhaling tons of air as he launches the ball at top speed.
      • Bowser Jr. unleashing a bloodcurdling scream that launches the ball.
      • Petey Pirahna not jumping up but riding a massive flower up and growling like a lion before launching the ball.
    • Special mention goes to the Kritter acting as the goalie in these situations. Normally, he remains mostly out of the player's control, but when faced with the odds before him, he simply squares up, letting you control him to block the Mega Shots. And as a result, all of the above-mentioned displays of power? The Kritter can block all of it.
      • He can even counter Monty Mole's tunneling if he's too close to the goalie when he uses his skill shot. Kritter grabs him and pulls him out of the ground by force.
  • Even the sidekicks get some amazing power shots.
    • Toad launching a fireball that ignites the goalie.
    • Birdo spitting out a massive egg.
    • Dry Bones turning the ball into a lightning ball.
    • Hammer Bro throwing out a barrage of giant hammers!
    • Shy Guy riding a Bullet Bill into the goal!
    • Koopa launching a giant Shell.
    • Boo turning invisible and almost teleporting forward.
    • Monty Mole tunneling under the goalie.
  • The Home entrances consist of the characters free-falling from about the same heights they're capable of jumping to and landing flawlessly (except Wario) into an Ass Kicking Pose.
    • Bowser Jr. landing in a breakdancing pose, complete with a spin.
    • Even Wario's is pretty awesome. There's something to be said about a man who lands on his face and just keeps on going like it's nothing. Especially if he does it on purpose.
    • In Petey Piranha’s reaction to the other team scoring, he will spitefully eat one of the opposing team’s sidekicks and spit them out. Most of said sidekicks will appropriately react in terror, but Hammer Bro will actually try to lob his hammers at him. It doesn’t work, but points for trying.

Mario Strikers: Battle League

  • The Hyper Strikes. Not only do the visuals morph into the series' recognizable comic book-like art style during the cinematic, we also get a three-panel zoom in on the character's face as their eyes light up with determination. As for the Strikes themselves, they once again demonstrate the kind of power the Mario cast can unleash when they need to.
    • Even more impressive is that Boom Boom is able to block any of these Hyper Strikes (as long as the inputs were imperfectly timed). This means that he can potentially stand up to a ball covered in fire, electricity or thorns, one launched from a tornado or one that has just fallen back to earth from space!
      • Even better is that some Hyper Strikes show Boom Boom’s reaction to the incoming shot. And what does he do? Take a determined stance as he gets ready to block it. He doesn’t care what’s coming towards him - that ball is not getting past him if he can help it.
    • Mario's Fire Cyclone pays homage to the Super/Mega Strikes of the past games as he kicks the ball upwards, jumps into the air to follow it and performs a reverse bicycle kick, sending the ball towards the goal in a spiral of flames.
    • Luigi's Spin Tornado shows off what the Green Machine can do on his own, as his spinning kick conjures an actual tornado that sucks up opponents and throws them up and out of the way before launching the ball at the goal.
    • Bowser's Flame Cannon has him setting the ball aflame with his own fire breath, before winding up and throwing it with maximum force. What clinches it is the Death Glare he directs at the camera/goalie before he winds up, clearly saying "You do not want to be in the way when I throw this."
    • Peach's Dance of Hearts shows off the princess' grace and dexterity by having her grab the ball with both feet, flick it up during a cartwheel, and roll it across her shoulders before making the shot.
    • Rosalina's Orbital Burst takes the cake, as she literally kicks the ball into space! Then it orbits a nearby planetoid like a meteor, gathering ice before coming back down for Rosalina to take the shot, freezing anyone in its path!
    • Toad's Drill Smash has his fellow Toads work together to throw him into the air after he kicks the ball up. That's not the impressive part, though - that part is when Toad headbutts the ball hard enough for it to bore through the earth.
    • Yoshi's Egg Stomp has him devour the ball, lay it out as a truly massive egg, and kick it into the air. He then follows with his trademark flutter jump and performs a midair Ground Pound to knock the egg down, which leaves craters as it bounces and crushes anyone caught underneath.
    • Donkey Kong's Banana Blast demonstrates just what DK's strength can really do. After eating a banana, he leaps up and slaps the ball hard in the goal's direction. How hard? The shockwave it generates sends all enemy players flying back - and right into the electric fence!
    • Wario's Electric Ricochet is as awesome as it is ridiculous - he performs a Ground Pound on the ball, causing it to ricochet madly around the pitch while crackling with electricity, bowling over everyone in its path.
    • Waluigi's Thorn Barrier shows off his Awesome Ego in full force as he puts a rose in his teeth (much like Mario Tennis Aces) and juggles the ball with showy footwork before making the shot. The shot itself marks the return of his familiar thorns from Charged, which entangle opposing players as the ball makes its way towards the goal.
    • Daisy's Flower Spiral lets the tomboy princess perform some amazingly fancy footwork, even using her butt to juggle the ball and nailing it with a rabona kick. The ball itself describes a spiral pattern on the pitch before shooting towards the goal, and anyone in the way is knocked into the air by a giant flower sprouting beneath them.
    • Shy Guy's Propeller Dive is awesome, adorable and ridiculous - he kicks the ball so high up, a Fly Guy has to carry him up into the air before throwing him head-first into the ball so hard that the tornado-like tailwind it produces throws aside anyone who tries to intercept it.
    • Pauline’s Swing Solo weaponises her musical ability, using her microphone as an impromptu hammer to launch the ball in an arc. The ball leaves behind a trail in the form of a musical stave, with notes appearing on it - these notes launch themselves at enemy players while the ball slams down to create a shockwave, then shoots for the goal.
    • Diddy Kong’s Barrel Boom sees him launch himself out of a classic Blast Barrel, striking the ball with his tail. The ball peforms a somersault, then rockets goalwards, with six spinning bananas fanning out and away from it, pushing foes aside to clear a path for the ball.
    • Bowser Jr.'s Twisting Knuckleball doesn't just have him backhand the ball with his Junior Clown Car. He follows the ball as it spirals towards the goal, smacking aside anyone in his way — he's not afraid to get violent if he needs to!
    • Birdo's Jewel Dance shows off her elegance in full force as she swallows the ball, then spits it out inside a jewel-studded egg before performing a balletic spinning kick. The ball itself shatters more eggs that she spat out earlier as it bounces along, stunning anyone stupid enough to be too close.
  • Unlike the other two games, this game lets you create a team consisting of the main Mario cast rather than having a character lead a team of generic characters like Toads.
    • Speaking of Toad, you can actually have more than one Toad on your team. Also, you can take advantage by either having someone lead a team of three Toads, serving as a Call-Back to the other games, or having a team of four Toads. And yes, you heard that right: Toad can be a team captain now!
    • Yoshi, and by extension, his species, also has the same gimmick as Toad, despite having already appeared as a captain.
    • With Shy Guy's release, you can also have a team consisting of multiple Shy Guys, or only one if you prefer.
  • With the release of the 1st Free Update trailer, we have the long-awaited return of none other than Daisy, whose presence was sorely missed in the base game and was most demanded by fans. On top of that, we also have Shy Guy as well, graduating from his sidekick role in Charged to a fully-fledged playable character with his own Hyper Strike.
    • The second free update not only brings back long-time staple Diddy Kong, also sorely missed from the roster, but introduces Pauline as a newcomer to the soccer field, following up on her appearances in Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf: Super Rush.
      • Followed up once more in the third update with two new returning faces: Bowser Jr. as a playable character, and Birdo, who is now promoted to a playable captain.
