There are many awesome moments in Love of Magic. Some of them include:
- Emily realizing the solution to the situation Merlin has created and marrying Owyn as he's dying from dragon fire, completing the mantle and healing him.
- At the summit meeting with the Fae and Norse pantheons, Owyn completely No Sells Thor's attack (with Emily's help), and is about to slice Thor in half until Odin and the Horned Lord together block his blow...and it's implied that both of them were necessary to do it.
- Then, to cap it off, Owyn uses his Reality Warper abilities to steal Mjölnir and give it to Bella.
- Owyn convinces R2 Emily to take him to help the Fae fight an Outsider. He sees Bella there and their bond instantly re-establishes; after she tackles him from joy, he gives her back Mjölnir and the two of them take down the Outsider together.
- Owyn sacrifices everything, burning through his Spark and the Mantle, to destroy the Cult and the Outsiders once and for all. It's not quite enough, so Excalibur sacrifices himself to finish off the last one. Owyn returns to the Glade to die, his Spark running wild and burning him alive...and the energy he emits draws the Mother back from where she had gone. She calls on her Chosen, Nimue, the Lady of the Lake, who comes forth with a renewed Excalibur to restore his focus, then opens the portal to return Owyn and Bella back to R1, where his Emily is waiting for him.
- Also awesome: Merlin planned all this out. He planned for R2 Owyn to fail and die, then for R1 Owyn to be brought to R2. The mana pool was there to draw in the Cult and the Outsiders, and force Owyn to burn through everything to the point where Excalibur would sacrifice himself. Only through that much mana being discharged could Owyn act as a beacon to bring back the Mother...which was the whole point of Merlin's plan. He planned all of this out a millennium and a half after his own death.
