Main Comic

  • Even though it was an accident and it resulted in him losing the SOULs, the fact that Asriel was able to create an entirely new timeline is rather impressive.
  • Frisk shows off some amazing dance movements in their "battle" with Napstablook, enough to get the attention of some other monsters nearby, and one of them even asks for an autograph after.
  • In the new timeline, Undyne and Papyrus are scientists with many useful inventions including a holographic sky over Snowdin Town, teleporters, robots with varying levels of AI, and even another dimension, just to name a few. They're also shown to be using their inventions to help other monsters and to improve the quality of life for everyone overall.
  • Sans proves himself worthy of his position in the Royal Guard with a particularly difficult boss fight that results in Frisk getting sent to the "Socket Dimension" many times. Even when he gets tired, he still continues until he decides to do nothing on the next turn. It takes Papyrus asking "DON'T YOU BELIEVE IN ME?" to finally get him to let them pass.
  • Frisk and Papyrus manage to get through Fort Aquarius without being caught, only running into trouble when they face Dohj and when Knight Knight catches up with them.
  • During the encounter with Bratty and Catty in Part 22, they find out that Frisk is a human, but become conflicted at whether they should keep fighthing them or not because Frisk isn't hurting them but they also don't want to leave Alphys to deal with them. Suddenly, none other than Mettaton shows up and fights them instead.
Bratty: It doesn't matter. Alphys sure doesn't wanna do this. So unless someone magically shows up to do this for us-
    • Then when Bratty and Catty leave, Mettaton reveals that he actually did this to save Frisk rather than fight them himself, making it clear that he is on their side, not just because he doesn't actually want to harm humanity but also because they treated Napstablook kindly.
  • Each of Mettaton's shows in Hotland have their own moments:
    • In the first show, Undyne forces Frisk to do the "puking into basketball hoops" puzzle that she had the idea for in Undertale. They cleverly come up with the idea of putting dog residue in the hoops instead.
    • In the second show, Frisk and Papyrus manage to win against all of the opponents in the tournament, including Mettaton and Undyne.
    • In the third show, despite being on opposing sides of the trial, Papyrus and Undyne end up working together to bring down Dohj's testimony with Blatant Lies since it would prove Papyrus guilty as well as Frisk. Sans also manages to make the Underground aware of Flowey's existence.
  • When Frisk gets trapped inside the CORE while Papyrus is trapped outside, they get angry and upset at Undyne and start to feel hopeless, until Chara decides to be less cryptic and take on a more active role, giving them emotional support to help them make their way through the area.
    • At one point, they come across the coloured tile puzzle, the same one that was used in Mettaton's musical show in Undertale. Since Chara remembers the old timeline, they take control of Frisk to complete it, with Word of God confirming that Frisk kept on reloading over and over until they got it right, which must have taken a lot of determination and patience.
  • The CORE also has four different areas based on the Ruins, Snowdin, Waterfall, and Hotland, each with a season-themed robot to fight at the end, making it seem more like a final dungeon than it originally did.
  • Mad Dummy finally gets their chance for revenge as they possess parts of the CORE, and each of the season-themed robots.
    • At one point, the Dummy activates several traps on one of the bridges, meant to be based on Papyrus' Gauntlet of Deadly Terror. Just like in the original game, it features the Annoying Dog, who, with the power of the artifact it absorbed earlier, powers up and blasts the Dummy away.
    • Mad Dummy's boss battle is more difficult than the already-difficult battle from Undertale, with more attacks and platforming with the blue soul mode.
  • Mad Mew Mew's first appearance: Undyne delivers the Mew Mew body, knowing that it was what the Dummy really wanted. After possessing it, she wastes no time in using her new power, the ability to split souls... which results in Chara being temporarily separated from Frisk, revealing to them that they're a human.
    • Even though they die to her once, Frisk and Chara eventually adjust to their temporary split to avoid her attacks, and eventually convince her to stop fighting them.
  • Mettaton's transformation into his SPIRAL form. Rather than be tricked into turning around (which wouldn't work anyway because his switch is hidden by his cape), he transforms himself, passing it off as using the Underground's hope. His SPIRAL form keeps the Cape Wings and spiked shoulder pads, as well as giving him a sword. His battle also introduces a new soul mode based on the cyan soul, which can freeze and destroy bullets.
  • Even though the fight with it is terrifying, the fact that Undyne built a Humongous Mecha powered by Determination is rather cool. During the fight, she nearly overpowers Frisk's own determination, saving at certain points so that they have less healing items to use.
  • During the post-reload rematch with the Determinator, since Frisk was able to warn Mettaton about Undyne interrupting the fight, he leaves right away, and she shows up earlier this time, leading to Papyrus and Mettaton arriving before the mecha explodes, and teaming up with Frisk to rescue her before it does.
    • Frisk manages to avoid dying this time, dodging enough of Undyne's attacks and only coming close to failing when their jetpack is broken, at which point Papyrus arrives to catch them before they hit the ground.
    • Papyrus stands up to Undyne over her wanting to claim the last soul, and even takes a hit for Frisk. Thankfully, it doesn't hurt him too much, and he still maintains his confidence.
Papyrus: I PROMISED TO PROTECT THEM AT ALL COSTS, AND THAT'S A PROMISE I INTEND TO KEEP... EVEN IF IT MEANS FACING YOU, UNDYNE!
    • When Undyne has Frisk cornered, Mettaton broadcasts the scene to the Underground, resulting in many people calling in to either defend Frisk or tell Undyne to stop. Even Dohj of all people threatens to punish Undyne if she gets Papyrus hurt more, despite her dislike of him.
    • The final phone call that ultimately gets Undyne to give up and run away is from Alphys, who finally decides to stand up for herself:
Alphys: F-Frisk is my friend, too! And, I... I just can’t take this anymore! W-what you’re doing... it’s wrong! Frisk had nothing to do with the war OR the Incident!
  • Flowey manages to get Toriel on his side and permission to absorb the 6 SOULs by protecting the brooch containing the Mage's SOUL when it falls off, and when Sans questions him, he answers back with a question of his own that even Chara is impressed by:
Flowey: Why do you think I wanna break the barrier so bad, Sans? You can't tell me ANYONE in this room is happy with the state of this kingdom.
    • He then earns Frisk and Papyrus' trust even more when the latter reveals that he's worked out that he's really Asriel.
  • Even though it was ultimately left unreleased, it was still brave of Mettaton to make a documentary that defended Chara. It's also revealed that he repaired their statue from the fountain after the other monsters damaged it.
  • When Undyne ran off, she locked the doors both to the main lab and the True Lab, and neither Papyrus nor Mettaton were able to break them down. However, Mad Mew Mew was able to do so.
  • The True Lab has Alphys as a Guest-Star Party Member for three of the battles there, with her helping to protect Frisk from some of the Mechamalgamates as well as demonstrating her skills.
  • Even though it's terrifying, the fight against a Memoryhead-controlled Mettaton counts, since it features Frisk, Alphys, and Papyrus as party members working together. Mettaton himself deserves a mention for managing to drive away the Memoryheads once the others have gotten through to him.
  • In Part 61, Flowey finally drops his act and betrays everyone, permanently separating Chara's soul from Frisk's, absorbing almost all of the monster souls, breaking the barrier, bringing Chara back to life in their own body, and sending Frisk back to the start of the Ruins as he leaves for the surface.
  • The fact that Lilac, Frisk's old friend from the surface, cares enough about Frisk despite their fallout in the past that she's able to brave returning to Mt. Ebott, the place where she was seriously injured, just to make sure Frisk is alright after she found out they were missing.
  • In "Null: Part 4", it's revealed that not only did Napstablook avoid being absorbed (again), but so did the Riverperson, with Word of God suggesting that they hid in Papyrus' time lab. Because of this, Frisk and Chara's journey to the surface is significantly shortened.
  • "Null: Part 5" has plenty of awesome moments involving the Spamton situation.
    • Spamton somehow managed to take over Hotland and get the robots to work for him in about a day or less.
    • Despite their trauma from seriously injuring Lilac, Frisk wastes no time standing in between Spamton and Lilac when Spamton gets way too close.
      • Similarly, Chara approaches Lilac even though they were initially surprised at seeing another human besides Frisk for the first time in a while.
    • Spamton's own attacks are actually quite formidable and can easily overwhelm the bullet board if you open way too many Fun Paks.
    • Chara's fire magic is fairly impressive in this fight, being used to help overheat Robot XPipis before Frisk finishes the job using their phone's Solar Flare.
    • Chara manages to buy Robot 100 and Papybot's freedom by paying Spamton 1997G.
    • The fact that Spamton is able to remember reloads if you die in the playable version thanks to DT exposure.
    • In the end, it's Lilac who resolves the situation by agreeing to buy the Fun Pak for $15.00. Even though it's not a lot of money, Spamton accepts it because it's from the surface.
  • In "Rift Part 1"'s post-credits, it's shown that Spamton had followed Frisk, Chara and Lilac to the surface, and needless to say, he's royally pissed that Asriel is doing such a thing to the humans. He enters the Rift soon after, likely going to have a role in the final fight.
Spamton: (Looking at Lilac's soulless body) KID. I DON'T KNOW IF [Can anyone hear me?] BUT NOBODY. TAKES. MY. CUSTOMERS. OR THEIR [HeartShapedObject]. NOT ON MY WATCH.
  • The entire fight against the Effigy of Ego. Chara repeatedly rejects the effigy, calling Asriel out on his hypocrisy and making it absolutely clear that Asriel's toxic idealization has done nothing but make things worse for everyone, effectively showcasing Chara's character development by allowing them to stand up to Asriel's unwillingness to accept that they've changed.
  • Frisk and Chara get several against Asriel during Rift 3. There's Frisk refusing to rise to Asriel's taunts before escaping the room they're trapped in and calling Asriel out for his self-serving toxicity. Or how when Chara escapes, they completely refuses to acknowledge the illusion Asriel during their escape.
    • The fight against the Pawn of Possessiveness has Frisk stand their ground, having them call Asriel out on their unwillingness to listen to reason, skewering the idea that Asriel's selfishness made him anything less than a sad, pathetic loser who screwed himself out of any potential healthy relationships because he'd rather continue chasing an idealized nostalgic fantasy of Chara than accept that Chara has changed and grown as a person.
    • Unlike every other fight in Inverted Fate, Frisk and Chara defeat the Pawn of Possessiveness by simply choosing to flee the fight. They decide that Possessiveness isn't even worth their time, causing the Figment to start crying and pleading for Chara to come back to them.
    • The post-credits shows Asriel returning Lilac's SOUL to her body just for the sake of proving Frisk wrong that he isn't alone. While Asriel is talking to her, however, Lilac figures out that Asriel is actually lonely and taunts him for it, pointing out that he can't actually kill her for making fun of him because he needs her alive as a way to torture Frisk. Asriel hits her with a lightning bolt out of rage, but that only makes her smugly confirm that Asriel is just a kid throwing a tantrum before Asriel finally gets fed up with her and removes her SOUL again, though not without admitting afterward that she's gutsier than she looks.
    • Better still, as the post credits scene of Rift 4 shows, Lilac got under Asriel's skin so much that he decided to leave her body soulless because he couldn't stand her taunting him.
  • Though the six human SOULs ended up absorbed back into the sea of SOULs absorbed by Asriel, they did manage to free Papyrus during the end of Rift 4. The following chapter shows that they also managed to create an area based on Snowdin for Frisk and Chara to find him in.
