  • Chapter 1 begins with a Flash Forward of Izuku, Ochako, and Itsuka in their primes. All three of them are shown to have complete mastery over their quirks, and can easily strike fear into the hearts of villains:
    • Izuku, for his part, is shown to be The Dreaded by villains, the mere sound of lightning zapping in the distance completely shattering the Smug Snake attitude of the trio of villains attacking heroes and putting them on their guard. Izuku then arrives and easily defeats two of their gang, prompting them to flee with two speed Quirks hurrying them away. Izuku then shows that he's fast enough to easily catch up, and easily saves people about to be run over, including one mom and her baby.
    • Ochako then jumps in to help Izuku, floating a boulder roughly three times her size without any problems, and throws it at the fleeing villains, causing them to trip and fall into the river.
    • Itsuka, meanwhile, summons the two of them to help her out with capturing a rising Big Bad Wannabe with a fairly clever trap - Ochako going in to distract him, seeing as he had a fancy for her and Itsuka, while Izuku and Itsuka sneak around and break down the walls. This goes off without a hitch, with Izuku easily fighting down the villain and Itsuka using a mix of Black Whip and Float to gain an advantage, before Ochako floats the villain to the ceiling, defeating him.
  • Chapter 2 has Izuku, as in canon, go up against Katsuki and his cronies as children. Where it differentiates, however, is that Izuku is protecting a young Ochako from Katsuki's bullying, and ends up manifesting his Quirk. While the results are a mix of Nightmare Fuel and Tearjerker, in the end, Izuku manages to come out on top and put Katsuki in his place.
  • Izuku vs. the Sludge Villain in Chapter 3. While it pretty much goes the same as in canon, with All Might having to step in and save him and Katsuki, Izuku ends up getting over his Heroic BSoD and shocks the Sludge Villain right in the eye. This inspires All Might to seek him out and offer to train him.
  • Ochako ends up being accidentally isolated from Izuku while he trains on the beach. After a few weeks of doubt on whether or not to confront him, Ochako finally musters her courage to head to the beach, refusing to take no for an answer, and nearly ends up in a fight with Itsuka, albeit through Poor Communication Kills.
  • The fight between Gran Torino and Itsuka ends up leaning heavily in the former's favor, with Itsuka barely able to keep up. However, Itsuka refuses to give up every time, which ends up earning Gran's respect, and in turn his support as All Might's successor, and gives Nighteye a well-deserved The Reason You Suck speech for his bias towards Mirio.
  • The Entrance exam has Izuku, Itsuka and Ochako go up against the zero pointers of their zones - and completely obliterates them, earning themselves top spots in the exam.
    • Itsuka and Ochako are paired together in their zone, working effortlessly together to destroy the robots. When the zero-pointer arrives, they both realize that it's going to drive the rest of their classmates into a panic, and resolve to distract it, first by throwing boulders at it, and then climbing up its arm and tricking it into punching itself in the face. Not too bad.
    • Izuku ends up panicking for a bit when the zero-pointer in his zone arrives, almost tempted to flee with the rest of his classmates - and then he sees Shoda injured. His demeanor then changes, and he has Nejire lift him up into the air so that he can go all out with his Quirk, which ends with him blasting out a bolt of lightning so powerful it burns a hole through the zero-pointer's head.
  • Chapter 12 has Izuku and Nejire go up against Itsuka and Ochako in the battle trial. Both teams give it their all, with Nejire giving Ochako a serious run for her money and keeping her at a distance for nearly the entire match, while Izuku, who's fighting Quirkless due to his own insecurities, ends up engaging Itsuka in hand-to-hand combat, and putting on a pretty good showing.
    • Momo's strategy is pretty simple: board up the entrance to the top floor with steel, which would be welded together by Yosetsu's Quirk. As such, they simply wait Kyouka and Denki out and earn the easiest win that day.
  • During the riot caused by the reporters, Yui comes up with a pretty good plan to restore order - have Tenya walk her over to Setsuna, explain the situation to her, and then have Setsuna disconnect her head to tell Itsuka. This is while, mind you, several hundred students are pinning her and Tenya to the wall, and making it very hard to move.
  • The USJ arc, when it's not Nightmare Fuel, is this.
    • The Villain Consortium earn a few credits for pretty much immediately establishing themselves as threats - first, they completely isolate Class 1-A and the USJ from the rest of the school through Nine's Weather Manipulation Quirk, creating a massive thunderstorm that makes it hard for any reinforcements to fight through. Next, they cut the power and strike the USJ with a bolt of lightning to intimidate the students. Next, teleport in, and have Kurogiri separate the students into separate zones. And finally, have the villains take Trigger.
    • Class 1-A is then put on the defensive, and we see them put up a pretty decent fight. Katsuki engages with the Trigger villains of the Ruins Zone, refusing to stop fighting while they come after him in droves. Fumikage ends up becoming enraged enough that the villains in the downpour zone didn't even get the chance to take Trigger, being forced to run for their lives from a rampaging Dark Shadow while Reiko smartly leaves to find help to calm him down. And Nejire, after being dragged into the water of the shipwreck zone, ends up creating a tsunami that takes out most of the villains and causes the nearly unflappable Nine to have an Oh, Crap! moment.
    • Itsuka comes up with the idea to destroy the mountain zone's tallest structure to bury the villains, but Ochako, Momo, and Kyouka point out they don't have the power. Itsuka then has a "Eureka!" Moment, realizing that she does have the power to destroy the mountain, and has Ochako bring her over to it so she can punch it with One For All, which completely shatters the mountain. Ochako then manages to get both of them to safety, sliding down the collapsing mountain and behind a trench so they didn't get buried by rock. And to cap it off, it results in a Big Damn Kiss moment between the two girls.
      • Momo also gets a moment when Chimera jumps onto their floating group, breaking Itsuka's ankle and choking Kyouka with his tail. The normally polite young woman then proceeds to kick Chimera right in the eye with a noticeable snarl on her face.
    • Izuku immediately realizes that he, Pony, and Yosetsu could not fight the Trigger villains and Mummy in the conflagration zone, and instead focuses on a plan to escape. They end up fusing himself and Yosetsu to Pony while she flew them out and manages to distract the villains long enough to disorganize them, counting on their now single-minded obsessions with blood to trick them into disorganizing, and when Izuku blasts a hole into the roof of the zone for their escape, the brightness temporarily blinds Mummy, with Pony taking advantage to ram into him and knock the Smug Snake on his ass.
    • Aizawa gets to fight with Slice and Nine after Nejire's tsunami, with Aizawa using his Quirk to erase Slice's and forcing her to fight with her own skills. Nine himself shows that he's no pushover either, taking advantage of Slice distracting the teacher to slam him into the ground.
    • Izuku's fight against Hood. While his Determinator tendencies are known to anyone who knows a thing about MHA, HOLY CRAP, he takes it to another level here. The kid is pretty much fighting Muscular on steroids, with a broken arm, the gauntlet is destroyed, and barely any training with his Quirk. And yet he stands his ground and faces the beast head-on. Dodging, firing lightning, and breaking his style apart. While Hood ultimately clears the floor with Izuku's face, it buys him enough time for Itsuka and Ochako to arrive and save him. Ochako jams her thumbs into the monster's and Itsuka manages to knock him out. For about 10 seconds before rises up even more bloodthirsty.
    • Class 1-A pulling a Big Damn Heroes and saving All Might just as the Nomu was about to push him into Kurogiri's portal to cut off his head. Bakugo takes Kurogiri, Slice gets shot with a cannonball by Momo, wrapped by Tsu's tongue, and held at a machete point by Yui, (who orders Tsu to squeeze the ginger villain until she pops like a balloon if she tries to move), Chimera is tacked by Fumikage and Dark Shadow and finally, Mummy is knocked out by Ejiro and Kaminari.
    • After blasting the Nomu away, All Might, who has officially reached his time limit, attempts to bluff the Consortium into running... only for Nine to call his bluff with an Armor-Piercing Question:
Nine: Why don't you come over here and finish us off, then?
    • Nine's Pre-Mortem One-Liner after he takes Trigger and prepares to kill All Might:
      Nine: Goodbye, Symbol of Peace.
    • ...and then, Izuku, who was pretty much at death's door until this moment, gets up, AND BLASTS NINE AWAY WITH A LIGHTNING BOLT! Ochako and Katsuki remark that this was the biggest bolt he created since his Quirk manifested in their childhood. Nine is left unconscious and Slice is seething with rage. Catharsis at its finest.
    • BUT WAIT! Is not over yet. Because as soon as Slice attempts to get up and kill Izuku, Himiko who shapeshifted into a villain, arrives and stabs Slice in the shoulder. And then Tenko arrives, bats one eye at the injured Thirteen, and launches a massive Decay wave against the villains. Just because he is not a villain in this story, doesn't mean he is a slacker.
    • The chapter's ending narration, where Izuku and Nine cement their hate for each other.
With long white hair hanging over his face, Nine glared into Izuku's eyes, his red eyes burning through the boy who had just maimed him and denied him his victory as a slab of cement covered All Might, blocking him from view. And Izuku returned the heated glare tit-for-tat, his wide eyes narrowing at the villain who had tried to kill him and his friends.
  • In Chapter 22, Itsuka manages to do what Izuku failed to do in canon - take Eri and manage to get to safety before Overhaul could even confront her. It's even shown that she managed to use One for All (implied to be a version of Full Cowling, if the sparks surrounding her had anything to do with it) to escape before Overhaul could even catch a glimpse of her. The Mad Scientist is left enraged.
  • The first round of the Sports Festival is no slouch compared to canon - in fact, it takes canon's first obstacle course and makes it bigger and badder by installing a dark pit for the students to fall into, floating platforms, robots, and even more daunting obstacles than before - and Izuku, Ochako and Itsuka still get in first place.
    • Izuku and Ochako become a Battle Couple for the event, working together to get through the obstacles and make it clear that they're going to pass through the finish line together. Izuku ends up accidentally launching them both into the sky, and actually manages to come up with a strategy to get them down safely.
    • Itsuka, meanwhile, sees Izuku and Ochako launch themselves into the sky, taking a moment to stare at them in horror - and then she immediately shifts into Determinator mode, and makes it clear that she will catch them. She even easily deals with Shouto and Katsuki when they try to interfere with her rescue, with Itsuka sending a blast of wind from One for All at them to force them back while she jumps to catch her friends.
  • Izuku's plan during the second round of the sports festival - use himself as The Bait and go around with the 10,000,000 points, causing everyone to go after him while his teammates go through the crowds and sneakily get enough points to advance in the sports festival even without the ten million. And then, when Ochako's points are taken, Izuku reveals his other plan - to engineer a scenario where he crashes into Ochako and gives her the 10,000,000 points, and then crash into a pond so they could use their wet hair to disguise the switch. And naturally, everyone falls for it, hook, line and sinker.
    • Hell, Izuku's navigating through the crowd deserves mention, as he has over twenty four of his classmates going after him and trying to corner him, and he managed to get through them all.
    • Setsuna deserves a bit of mention as well - while her sneakiness and cunning comes off as more of an Informed Attribute in canon, here, she manages to unite the two other teams with less points to form a larger group, in order to overwhelm the other two groups and advance on. She also shows the ability to get under Izuku's skin, nearly throwing him off balance enough to steal the 10,000,000.
    • Itsuka also shows a surprising amount of backbone to Shouto when he confronts her on her feelings for her two friends, and makes it clear that, unlike Izuku in canon, she won't put up with his Jerkass behavior. She even threatens at one point to ignore their rivalry altogether.
  • The first match between Izuku, Ochako, Tenya and Mei very quickly goes off the rails, but points have to be given to Mei - she easily avoids all of Ochako's attacks while not taking a break from her advertising, easily manhandles Tenya around and uses him as her testing dummy, and uses shield tech to pretty much trap everyone inside, making sure that she couldn't be thrown out and could continue her pitch. It takes Ochako punching the drone creating the shield and a ripple for Izuku to throw her out.
    • The aforementioned three way fight between Izuku and Ochako and Tenya - while Tenya is at a disadvantage with both Izuku and Ochako working together, he still keeps them on their toes the entire fight, displaying a good showing, and once he is defeated and thrown out he shows to be a Graceful Loser.
  • Itsuka and Nejire's fight against Monoma and Mina is so one sided it's practically hilarious - both girls easily predict that Monoma would copy Shinsou's quirk and taunt them into going off guard, and instead turn Monoma's strategy against him by trash talking Class 1B, throwing Monoma off his game. Once the fight starts, Itsuka and Nejire display surprising teamwork, working both Monoma and Mina into corners until they could catch them both off guard, and Itsuka could throw Mina out of the ring. After that, Itsuka easily defeats Monoma by chopping the back of his neck, putting him down for the count in one of the biggest Curb Stomp Battles of the festival.
  • Izuku and Ochako's fight with Katsuki and Fumikage.
    • Walking into the match, Izuku and Ochako are more than aware that they're outmatched by both of them, but still catch the other two off guard when they both immediately launch attacks the moment the match started - with Ochako quickly sliding beneath Dark Shadow and delivering a kick to Fumikage that knocks him back, and Izuku using Katsuki's momentum to flip him over his shoulder and bodyslamming him to the ground. As Present Mic states, both Katsuki and Fumikage make the first move, and both are instantly put on their asses.
    • After that, Katsuki and Fumikage go on the offensive, with Izuku and Ochako unable to really land any hits on them. Ochako eventually has the idea to switch partners, seeing that Izuku's lightning quirk affected Dark Shadow more than what she could do, and soon, both of them nearly get the advantage over Fumikage - only for Katsuki to suddenly change tactics and slam Izuku to the ground, with Dark Shadow taking advantage of Ochako being caught off guard to slam her against the ground.
    • During the fight, Izuku learns a new way he could use his quirk - in a supermove he hastily calls "Ground Current", he unleashes his lightning into the ground itself, causing it to blast out around him and catch his enemies by his feet. He uses this twice - and the second time unbalances Fumikage enough that Ochako slips out of Dark Shadow's grasp and uses her quirk to throw him out of the ring.
    • After this, Katsuki unleashes his Howitzer Impact to defeat both of them, but Ochako performs a Heroic Sacrifice by pushing Izuku aside and taking the full blast. Seeing her knocked out of the ring and unconscious with a burn makes Izuku snap, ripping off the destroyed Full Gauntlet and engaging Katsuki in a flat out fight. Both boys trade blows, with Izuku eventually using his quirk to act as electrical knuckledusters, but Katsuki eventually gets the advantage and prepares to blast Izuku to hell - only for Izuku to unleash an aspect of his quirk that he never knew he had: the ability to copy other elements, and using the ice Shouto encased him in during the second round to freeze Katsuki into place, defeating him.
