Awesome / Grim Fandango

  • Olivia's two-stanza Title Drop poem:
    With bony hands, I hold my partner;
On soulless feet, we cross the floor.
The music stops, as if to answer
An empty knocking at the door.

It seems his skin was sweet as mango
When last I held him to my breast.
But now, we dance this grim fandango
And will four years - before we rest.
  • Knocking scumbag lawyer Nick Virago to the ground with one punch, after he sprouts poor innocent Lola.
Nick: Was... was that for the photo girl?
Manny: No, that was just for being you. I don't have time to get you for Lola, but I'm sure somebody will.
    • And he does get his when he tries to bum a ride on the Number Nine, and gets Dragged Off to Hell instead.
  • The Gatekeeper's line after Nick and others' Laser-Guided Karma:
Gatekeeper: Your destiny cannot be purchased.
  • Giant squid/octopus? No problem...*slash*
  • Props to Manny for how savvy he really is. In just one year, the man goes from pushing a mop at a diner to buying out the joint and turning it into a popular cafe/casino. Cue to one year later again and he’s gone from managing a ship’s galley to captain of the whole thing. If the D.O.D. weren’t corrupt and run by a crime lord, Manny surely would’ve worked his way up to running the whole thing himself.
  • Manny’s character development comes to a glorious head when he and his friends finally make it to the train station. If Manny walks up to the tunnel, he’ll adamantly refuse taking his final reward for all those years of working for the D.O.D. He can’t go through until he takes down Hector and helps everyone who got swindled out of their just rewards. A sure sign of how far Manny had come in changing as a person.
  • Domino's Karmic Death:
Domino: I can't believe you, Calavera! You're losing a fight, so you pick on one of my pets?! Why aren't you more like me, Manny? I've been trying to show you how but you don't listen! If you'd just adopt the proper attitude, just look what could happen to you! [Gets crushed by the coral crushers he didn't notice approaching him from behind him.]
  • When Glottis reveals The Bone Wagon and takes Manny for a ride in it. The image of a flame-spewing hotrod being driven by a literal speed demon, with a thronenote  on the backside where The Grim Reaper himself sits, scythe in hand, is truly a sight to behold. Extra points for the debut ride, where it not only beats Domino to Meche's reaping but makes him spin out.
  • When Glottis starts to die from speed withdrawal, the demons running the Ninth Underworld's Gate jury rig a rocket-powered gondola to help him recover. The ride takes Manny, Glottis and Meche all the way to Rubacava, cutting a 2-year journey down to a matter of hours. If Glottis hadn't had a panic attack from waking up strapped to a rocket and caused it to fall apart, they probably could have reached El Marrow.
  • Manny confronting Hector, whilst dressed in his old reaper getup and in his old office.
"My name's Calavera, and I want a bigger cut."
  • After killing Hector during the climax by shooting the water tank providing water for his greenhouse with Sprout bullets, we get a quick look of Hector realizing what's about to happen, a Gory Discretion Shot to outside where Manny hears him scream in horror and pain, and finally, Manny opens the door and take a look at his sprouted remains. Manny doesn't even bother with a one-liner, he just silently tosses the gun at Hector's corpse and walks away without a backwards glance.
