Awesome / Galtar and the Golden Lance

Go To

  • The ending of pilot episode, "Galtar and the Princess". When Galtar first removes the golden lance from its pedestal. This act does not go unnoticed by Tormack and his sorcerer Krimm, because taking the lance literally lights up almost the entire skyline.
    • After Ither warns Galtar that the lance may turn on him, even kill him if he were to ever turn evil. Galtar makes a solemn vow.
Galtar: You need not fear, Ither. From this day on, I pledge myself to justice!
    • Earlier, the first appearance of Ravensclaw. Who arrives at the Cavern of the Dead in time to help Galtar and Goleeta against a fire-breathing sea dragon. The pair then hitch a ride on the dragon, using it to escape the cavern.
  • Episode 2, "Skull Forest" begins with Galtar and Goleeta being surprisingly Genre Savvy. Galtar takes some time to learn how to use the golden lance, before rushing off to face Tormack and his army.
    • The Nerm Pandat steals the key to Galtar and Goleeta's cage from Rak, right under the dwarf's nose.
    • Galtar and Tormack's duel, with Galtar having to match the Golden Lance against the powers of the magical Golden Shield. Due to their weapons being evenly matched, neither man can directly harm the other. So Galtar uses the lance to cause a cave-in, which allows the heroes and their Nerm allies to escape.
  • Episode 3, "Mursa the Merciless". Galtar is saved from a hungry pack of several flying reptilian creatures, by a man in white and gold armor.
    • Galtar and the White Knight battle against Mursa's size-changing serpent familiar. The pair eventually combine their powers, turning the creature to ash and dust.
White Knight: We must not fight separately, but as one!
Galtar: This is for Goleeta, you overinflated worm!
    • Galtar follows that up by destroying Mursa's throne with the power of the Golden Lance. That attack undoes Mursa's youth-stealing spell.
  • Episode 4, "Goleeta's Reunion", begins with the young boy Zorn trying to outpace Tormack, Otar and several of his Gurza soldiers. Zorn even outruns them until he's caught by one of Tormack's men, the giant ogre Drago.
    • Zorn does it again, when he Goleeta and Galtar are trapped in a pit by Tormack and about to be eaten by a giant lizard. Zorn manages to trick the creature into running back into its cage. Before cutting the ropes that hold the cage open.
Galtar: Your brother is daring and brave.
Goleeta: Of course, it runs in the family.
  • Episode 5, "Shadowhaunt". For the villain, during the battle between Galtar and the "Shadowhaunt creature". The creature was actually able survive several energy blasts from the golden lance.
    • During the fight Zorn did at least manage to drop a cauldron of tar onto the creature. Which made the normally invisible monster visible for a short time.
    • Galtar and Goleeta's plan to make a fake "Shadowhaunt creature". The plan works without a hitch. Terrifying the Gurza's, who all flee from the phoney creature in terror.
  • Episode 6, "Tormack's Trap". As Galtar rushes to save Rava. Goleeta manages to catch a spear that was thrown by one of the Gurza's at her. She then uses that spear to take out two other Gurza's.
    • Rava comes up with a rather clever plan to have Rak and Tuck get the key to Galtar, Goleeta and Zorn's cage. Amazingly, Rak and Tuck pull off their part of the plan without a hitch.
  • Episode 7, "Wicked Alliance". The brief yet impressive duel of magic that Mursa and Krimm engage in near the beginning of the episode. For every serpent Mursa summoned, Krimm was still able to counter her magic with his own.
    • Rak and Tuck, normally pitiably incompetent. Manage to outfox the wizard Orlock and steal his magical book of spells.
    • The wizard manages to get even with the father son duo by the end of the episode. Stealing back his book and laughing at the pair before vanishing into thin air.
  • Episode 8 "Vikor's Raiders", some credit to Tuck. Who despite normally being a coward, actually backtalks Vikor's men when they start insulting him.
Vikor's Warrior: What good is he? He's too scrawny to be a slave.
Tuck: Who are you calling scrawny?! Put me down and I'll show you who your dealing with!
    • Even when chased (and buried up to his neck) by Vikor's vicious pet Hell Hound, Beto. The little dwarf keeps his wits and even comes up with a plan to steal the Golden Lance from the beast while it's sleeping. Though he accidentally wakes Beto up, he does manage to elude the beast.
    • As Galtar is about to fall into a deep chasm, it's Goleeta who manages to grab his hand and help him climb back up to safety.
  • Episode 9 "The Manta Marauders" begins with the heroes catching Otar and several of his Gurza's in a trap. By leading Otar into thinking they had set up camp and fallen asleep. When Otar and his men learn the truth, Goleeta is already attacking them, while riding atop Ravensclaw.
    • Later, when brought before the ugly blob creature, Kardor. Goleeta refuses to submit to her captors. Even when subjected to Electric Torture from a field of energy keeping her restrained.
  • Episode 10 "The Master Fighters" opens with Galtar fighting two Lizard Men. He ends up finishing the fight, by charging up the Golden Lance and sending the pair flying with a bolt of lightning.
    • Krimm's demonstration of the Master Fighters.
    • Galtar managing to trick the Yellow and Green Fighters into destroying each other. He then finishes the third Fighter by tricking it into walking into the beam of light being used to burn the trap holding Goleeta over a pool of boiling oil.
    • Pandat of all people providing the Big Damn Heroes moment by arriving in time to help Galtar, Golden Lance in hand.
