Awesome / Divinity: Original Sin II

  • For those who get more than a little invested in Sebille's story, killing her master is just one awesome moment, stretched out to an entire battle. The conversation before it shows how much she hates him, and how strong his control still is, along with just how strong willed she is. Then, when the fight starts, Sebille stabs the bastard in the throat with her needle, and you begin an average difficulty fight with the boss silenced from the word go. You'll probably beat half (if not completely) to death before even seeing his flunkies, as he's right there, while said flunkies are invisible at the start and their initiative is unusually low. Killing him is both awesome and cathartic in-universe and out. If the Red Prince is in your party as well, this means you don't have to fight the Shadow Prince at the end of his quest, making this event's payoff even better!
  • Unlike a lot of other RPGs, Divinity: Original Sin II does not require your casters such as wizards and necromancers to wear all cloth armor. Instead you can have your entire party kitted out in full plate armor wielding great swords and battle axes. The same works in reverse. You can outfit your tanks and fighters in nothing but cloth and wizard robes if you want to. And the best part is that this might actually work. Cloth armor and robes generally gives better magic resistance in Divinity 2. So equipping a lot of cloth will give you better resistances against spells and other nasty effects, like poison. It's a viable strategy to mix and match plate and cloth armor to have a chance at resisting nasty things like Knockdown and magic debuffs.
  • If you are playing as Lohse, you find that she has been Refused by the Call, and if everyone else (with Lohse as a companion)'s stories are to be believed, all the other gods are telling their chosen one to kill her. At the end of Act three, Lohse as a player character has the option to call Rhalic out for now speaking to her after ignoring her. To make this even better, you can make her be the new Divine.
  • The end of Lohse's personal quest as a companion, in which she finally sings. It is particularly cathartic if you have heard her try to sing the very same song early in Act I, when Laslor gives her his lute — and then her demon makes her smash it, cutting the attempt short. Lohse does not attempt to sing for the rest of the playthrough, probably because she is so traumatized by this event, — but she sings once the demon is dead, signifying the end of her nightmare.
    • And it's even better if you position Lohse the right way and have her sing her song over her demon's dead body.
    • Killing the Doctor without weakening him first. It is much more difficult, especially if you have Lohse in your party (you'll have to keep her out of the fight or kill her yourself, otherwise the demon will possess her and become invincible) but you didn't only save her, you also saved the tens of thousands of people he possessed.
  • Regardless of what you decide to do with Justinia, she makes one big Heel Realization when Isbeil starts trying to reassert her control over her, only for Justinia to tell her Shut Up, Hannibal!. This is especially the case if Beast is in the party. Even though Beast tried to oust Justinia from the throne, and Justinia responded by exiling him, she still loves her cousin enough to tell Isbeil to can it because this is the first time she has spoken to her cousin in years.
    • Justinia's Offscreen Moment of Awesome as well - she slaughtered Isbeil's minions personally and only has three words to say to you when she finally breaks down the door: "WHERE. IS. SHE?"
  • Near the end of the game, if Ifan is in your party, he calls out Lucian for manipulating him by delivering Deathfog to the Elven homelands. He'll happily stand by your side if you stand by his.
  • Sucking out peoples' souls is a way to obtain source and teabag corpses in the most ruthless way possible. For the most vile of villains, like Roost and Reimond, it counts as an awesome moment.
  • You can save the lives of Gareth's parents by killing Magister Jonathan if you go to a certain house north of the Paladin Bridge without crossing it, where Gareth has Jonathan knocked out. You can prevent Gareth from going on a mad crusade of revenge too! Murder Is the Best Solution!
  • The final boss. Ho-ly shit. For starters, all of your source skills now don't cost any Source Points to use, meaning the previously Awesome, but Impractical three SP skills just became practical. After that, you have a heated confrontation with Dallis, Braccus Rex, and Lucian, the protagonist of Divine Divinity thought to be dead for much of this game. As mentioned above, Ifan will go apeshit on Lucian for all of his horrible actions, you yourself can call out the villains for all the horrible shit they got up to, and Dallis reveals herself to be Fane's daughter, leading to a surprisingly emotional moment between the two. When the fighting starts, not only do you get the satisfaction of finally kicking the villains asses, but it's given and extra climactic effect by the music, and the fact that all voice lines and sound effects are muffled, emphasizing the track. But we're just getting started; once you lay a sufficient enough smackdown on one of the villains, Braccus reveals that he is no longer under the thrall of Dallis and cuts loose, summoning the Kraken from the start of the game who then summon Kemm, Isabeil, and the Sallow Man to join the fight. Everything turns to utter chaos at this point, all the magisters plus Lucian and Dallis (if they're still standing) will start battling the new adds, the Kraken will fire off extremely powerful attacks, and Braccus himself will hide himself on the other side of the map. Then Dallis (again, if she's still in play) will turn into a dragon with her shapeshifter mask and start fighting the Voidwoken forces. To cap it off, this awesome track starts playing. Needless to say, when the dust settles and you stand victorious, you will feel like your party is unstoppable.
