Awesome / Cursed Princess Club

Go To

For a comic that's mostly a romantic comedy with occasional dramatic elements, there's some very genuine heroism added to the mix.

  • A minor, off-screen one mixed with funny; somehow, animals always manage to get to Maria while she sleeps... even on the top floor of the castle. No one's sure how they're doing it. She's just that much of a Princess Classic.
  • After multiple pages where Lorena's Action Girl schtick is mostly played for laughs, she has an actual, real, decent fight with Suzanna Winchester, a fencing prodigy from a family of fencing prodigies, where two facts become abundantly clear: in a real fight, Lorena would quite simply destroy Suzanna, and even when fencing for the first time against a genius-level opponent, Lorena is so good at combat that she can still figure out how to press Suzanna to her absolute limit.
    • It's so clear, in fact, that Suzanna refuses to face Lorena again, aware that she will lose and not wanting to damage her reputation (along with just plain not liking Lorena in the first place.)
  • Curtis, the world's greatest Battle Butler, has a big claim to fame; he ends up fighting a Giant Spider to rescue Gwen. Prez who was the spider, reveals she has a big bruise on her head from their fight, and when Curtis tries to apologize... she specifically thanks him for saving Gwen's life and her own. Prez implies that killing someone else might have left her Driven to Suicide, and so Curtis' courage saved them both.
" Thank you, Curtis. If I had taken another life, I don't know how I could go on."
  • Prez herself has one in her backstory; having heard of Nell's suffering from Asa, she decides that she will go save her, and trains herself for this very purpose. While the rescue itself doesn't go nearly as smoothly as Prez hoped, she does manage it in the end, and even frees the Princels to boot. Three lives saved from execution, and Nell saved from a life of being caged and used as an unwilling oracle by her own family; and remember, Prez doesn't even know any of these people when it starts. She went to save them because it was the right thing to do.
  • In Episode 112, some members of the club plus the Princels have a run-in with some jerk who tries to punch Syrah. Then Prez steps in. Whitney expects Prez will get hurt, but then Prez totally kicks the jerk’s butt in a Curb-Stomp Battle, driving home to Whitney just how much his ex-fiancée has changed from that Extreme Doormat Proper Lady he left behind.
  • After Frederick finally spills the beans about having been bullied at school to his brothers, Blaine and Lance convince him that confronting his bullies with violence is not the right way... for him. And while he follows their advice to ignore the bullies and happily rejoins Gwen at the party, the elder Plaids exchange devilish grins and admit they've got "some big brothering to make up for". Read: Punishing bullies is not Frederick's way... but it is, very much, the rest of his family's.
  • Blaine and Lance team up with the CPC members attending the gala to get revenge on the bullies. The CPC infiltrate the haunted maze and scare the crud out the mean boys using their curses, with Thermidora grabbing them with her lobster claw and Saffron with his cursed hand, and Prez summoning her spiders to gather around her and give off the illusion of a demonic spider queen. After the bullies flee with wet eyes and wet underwear, Blaine and Lance confront them, introducing themselves as Frederick’s brothers, and finish the bullies off by beating the snot out of them.
  • Jack utterly wrecking his parents when they called Lilyth "ugly" right in front of him and ranted about how she was ruining their lineage, leading to him calmly and coldly stating how ugly his mother and father were at that moment because of their obsession with appearances. It was so bad it's implied he literally broke them psychologically and mentally, as the immediate moment after he called them out they looked in a mirror and saw themselves looking monstrous and deformed.
  • The Pastel Children (sans Gwen) helping to defend their home from the Plaid Army forces by using their special gifts born from their beauty after Molly reminds them to be confident.
    • Even Gwen gets a special moment with her beauty-based powers after all is said and done that doubles as Heartwarming. She manages to soothe the Plaid King's rage simply by showing him kindness, grace, and warmth with a rope she made to help him and a reminder that Jack, his best friend, loves him.
  • Queen Isolde putting an end to the invasion when she arrives at the Pastel Castle with Plaid Parliament, revealing she covertly swiped the throne from Leland. She's willing to let the Plaid Army off simply because she recognizes she was also complicit in letting Leland's behavior get this bad, but will offer no second chances to anyone who still tries to assist her husband. Leland himself is going to be tried for war crimes, with Isolde calling him out for having wanted so much despite already having his own kingdom and a family. How'd she manage to do this with no one realizing? He really should've been paying attention to those dessert order forms he kept signing for her.
