Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, when you look at it closely, is a very badass movie.

Movie

  • "When it rains, you put on a coat." (Second time.) For context, when Flint is blowing up the machine, he takes the can of spray-on shoes, quotes the line said by his dad about putting on a coat, and then adds, "—of spray-on shoes!"
  • The idea of a machine able to turn water (even in the form of steam) into food is amazing on itself. Think about it. It would solve one of the most ancient problems in human history: the hunger in the world.
  • CHICKEN BRENT! It seems as though Brent has been eaten by the chicken, but then he's seen struggling inside it, killing it, and ends up wearing it like a suit. He decides that he isn't Baby Brent anymore, takes off his diaper, and starts a new identity: Chicken Brent.
  • Officer Earl going back to save his son, lifting a raft made of giant food over his head (with son and wife still on it) and running all the way, through diverse obstacles so they could escape the food flood.
    • Made better when he crashes through a Tortilla chip, he makes a giant "T." Hell. Yes.
    • Earl's wife deserves a shout-out for making a perfect catch when Earl tosses their son to her.
  • "GUMMY BEARS!!" Steve plays with the living gummy bears, defeating them.
  • Sam OWNING her co-host on her weather series when he constantly mocks her new appearance, breaking into the network to deliver her message.
  • After the foodvalanche that crushes Flints lab, his father bursts out of the food pile that buried him after Flint gives an apology message to him, finally perfectly using the computer (after his previous uselessness with the device) and sending the kill code. Partially undone later was its revealed Tim sent the funny cat video instead of the kill code.
  • The Spaghetti Twister scene, especially the beginning. When Flint realizes he's the only one he can turn off the machine and save everyone, he wastes no time. He screams and charges headfirst at a tornado, in one of the most detailed one-shots in cinematic history. Not to mention it really speaks to Flint's character as a guy who really just wants to help people.
