Awesome / Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Go To

Just because Captain Toad can't jump doesn't mean he can't be awesome.

  • Captain Toad defeats Draggadon, a giant lava dragon, without being able to jump, and a later level has Toadette doing the same... and riding it. Then Captain Toad defeats it as it's covered in gold and rides it.
  • Captain Toad defeating Wingo with nothing more than ordinary vegetables. Giant ordinary vegetables, but still.
  • Toadette is playable in the second book and rescues Captain Toad after he gets captured by Wingo, in a reverse of the first book where he had to save her.
    • In both cases, the only reason they were captured was because they refused to let go of the Power Star.
    • The final level of Episode 2 has Toadette storming the tower and taking out various hordes of enemies, which includes Fire Bros., Hammer Bros., Magikoopas and Goombas. Not only is this Toadette here (who beforehand only appeared in multi-player Mario spin-offs or NPC roles), but just like Captain Toad, she's unable to jump.
  • The amount of detail put into the games' levels. They're just as pretty as Super Mario 3D World's levels, if not prettier.
  • Finishing the final level, known as Mummy-Me Maze Forever, a 50-level gauntlet that's filled with enemies, coins and Mummy-Mes hounding your every step. You don't get a star at the end, but you amass a massive fortune and you also get a fancy crown (as well as unlocking the three "Coins Galore" stages to play whenever you want).
  • The little whimpering sounds Toad and Toadette make during boss fights not only make them that little bit more alive, but also lend them a lot of character: unlike the ever fearless Mario Bros (or...at least Mario), these two are clearly and absolutely terrified, but they still keep fighting to rescue one another.
