Awesome / Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!

Go To

  • Fred modifying the Mystery Machine to operate as a functional submarine bears mentioning. (Even if it's mitigated a bit by the grabber working like a claw machine.) The hot air balloon mode and ridiculously trashed-looking security protocol (with crossbows) also deserve a few kudos.
  • Scooby gets one in the climax of the fourth episode, wherein he pilots the monstrous gargoyle to save Lady Annabelle as she falls. It's even observed as one, in-verse, making an awesome ending for the Poodle Justice episode.
  • Now for the other half of the cowardly lions, Shaggy, in "Grand Scam" gets one for being brave in trying to help his baseball team.
    • Also in Grand Scam, Daphne manages to pop the "ghost" a good one in the head with a pitching machine.
  • The trap set for the monster in Trading Chases bears mentioning, as the gang and the kid-gang pull off an over-complicated scheme which works perfectly for once!
  • For the first time in the franchise, the Heroism Incentive element is fully acknowledged to be problematic, by none other than Daphne during "Sorcerer Snacks Scare". And then there's way the episode reconstructs the trope at the end: the reveal that Scooby and Shaggy were actually tricking the others into thinking they are easily bribed by Sorcerer Snacks/Scooby Snacks to do dangerous things. In truth, they knew they'd be forced into doing those things anyway, but now they get paid in their favorite format for it.
  • Mystery Machine Mecha!
Fred: I've been saving this modification for a special occasion.
  • In "Party Like it's 1899," Shaggy and Scooby get some good Sherlock scans due to being able to remain composed and meticulous throughout the mystery while they think it's All Part of the Show.
  • Scooby-Doo defending Daphne against the Hell Beast in "Worst in Show", showing how courageous and scary he can be when he manages to overcome his natural cowardice. And to top it off, when it becomes apparent that the Beast is no longer intimidated by its much smaller opponent, the other dogs, inspired by Scooby's example, come at his side and together they drive off the hellish creature!
  • Professor Huh gets a special mention as he was able to turn the table on Scooby and Shaggy when they try to dupe him.
  • The Season 2 episode "Halloween" has a few.
    • First, Shaggy and Scooby actually deliberately call the attention of the witch away from their friends and to themselves.
    • When Freddy stands before the Witch, very smug, and then "Zombie" Velma and Daphne spring out of piles of leaves at her, and Freddy tells her that after 11 years, it's the Witch's turn to be scared.
  • Velma hopping around, even making an action-movie style rescue when Daphne is stuck on a coastal wall, despite being in a not very subtle wedding dress and high-heels.
  • In "Renn Scare" the renaissance performers roleplaying as palace guards move to protect the king of the fair when the ghost appears.
  • In "Do Not Disturb," for once the monster sees through Shaggy and Scooby's disguise right away and keeps chasing them.
  • The monster in "Do Not Disturb" is knocked unconscious by the hotel's janitor after holding him prisoner.
  • In The Teaser of "In Space," Garrett is Genre Savvy enough not to get tricked into touching a mysterious alien artifact. Then, he manages to avoid being captured by the monster for several weeks or months (unlike his crew-mates).
  • Feigenbaum from "In Space" is kidnapped and dragged into a vent by the monster but manages to escape offscreen and rejoin the main characters (who incorrectly think he's lying).
  • The villains in "Fright of Hand" manage to escape from their handcuffs twice in a row.
  • Awesome Music: Every Scooby-Doo fan is familiar with the post-unmasking de-briefing where the gang goes over why the perp did it and how the clues make it evident... but very rarely is it in song!
  • After decades of the gang (bar Scrappy) usually running at the first sight of a monster, "I Scooby Dooby Do" shows Daphne, fed up with the monster ruining the wedding, take it down with a football tackle (fortunately, the villain inside the costume this time was physically unimpressive; some of the other recent villains were big and strong enough to be threatening even out of costume).
  • Velma getting the high score in the Battle Boppers arcade game doesn't sound awesome on its own, but consider that this was a game so difficult that even a young Shaggy could never beat it... and that Velma did this in direct spite of the fear of video games and hideously calloused thumbs that a childhood gaming addiction cursed her with... AND that Pizza O'Possum was causing a ruckus chasing the rest of the gang around the arcade right behind her. Pro gamer, right there.
    • On top of that, Velma's achievement distracts Pizza O'Possum so that Shaggy can knock him out, so her gaming skills DID prove beneficial to solving the mystery.
