• A common complaint about the original Animan Man was that he rarely borrowed any powers from animals other than the obvious ones (Flight of a bird, wall-crawling of an insect). In general Morrison's run spotlighted the weirder abilities one can get from animals, specially everyday ones. Point in case: Issue #3 shows Buddy regenerating a lost limb by borrowing the Healing Factor of a common worm.
  • The same issue also has Maxine asking Mr. Weidmeir for help. Up until now, Weidmeir has been a Lazy Husband and kind of a Jerkass towards Ellen and Maxine. However, when he hears Ellen's in danger he springs into action and reveals to be quite the Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass.
  'Weidmeir: * shooting the would-be rapist * One more step son and you'll be singing soprano.
• The fight between Animal Man and B'wanna Beast, that includes Baker fighting a tiger-gorilla and an eagle-wolf.
• Martian Manhunter scaring Cliff's bullies with his shapeshifting powers also is a small one. Doubles as a funny moment too, specially when he shows he is Not So Above It All.
• Dominic proving his worth as the new Freedom Beast by killing an Amoral Afrikaner.
