• Shinji gets a big one on page 184 where he makes clear what he thinks of Mr. Langley's parenting skills, and that he will NOT tolerate a repeat of another kind with Aki.
  "Thanks for being so frank. I hope you don't mind if I'll be frank as well. It certainly doesn't sound like you'd win any 'Father of the year' awards any time soon... Nor that you'd even want to..."
  "However..."
  "With my own father 'out of commission'... You're the only Grandfather Aki has."
  (Holds his hands in front of his face, eyes hidden in shadow)
  "So I'm sure that you're going to do everything to be the best, most doting 'Opa' she could possibly want..."
  (Looks up with a Death Glare)
  "Am I right?"
  • What makes this particularly awesome is how Shinji puts his own twist on his Father's famous pose. As intimidating as it looked, Gendo always adopted the pose as a way to cut himself off from everyone else; kind-of like a mundane AT-Field. While it at first seems like Shinji is just trying to imitate his father, at the very end he raises his head just enough so that his eyes become visible. The look on his face was enough to pin Mr. Langley to the spot. Unlike his father, Shinji's not trying to keep people out, he's trying to keep something IN.
