- Heather and Gwen in Island, which carries over into later seasons (though it significantly died down by All-Stars). Heather and LeShawna as well. Even after they seemingly buried the hatchet in Action, they were back at each other's throats by World Tour.
- Duncan and Harold serve as this to each other. Harold hates Duncan for all the times Duncan bullied and pranked him. Duncan can't stand Harold for leaving his dirty underwear on the cabin floor and for getting his then-girlfriend eliminated in Island and for squishing his pet tarantula in Action.
- Alejandro's official title is "The Arch Villain", and he served as both this and Love Interest to Heather during World Tour. He was also this to Noah and Duncan, who were the only two contestants besides Heather to never fall for his facade.
- Courtney is very skilled at developing these:
- Beth In Action. Courtney made many attempts to manipulate Beth, all of which she saw through. Other than Heather, Courtney is the only contestant Beth truly hates.
- Duncan, Gwen, and Heather in World Tour. Courtney and Gwen were friends until Duncan cheated on Courtney with Gwen, afterwards Courtney swore vengeance on both of them. While it's mostly one sided in relation to Gwen, Duncan hates Courtney just as much as she hates him. This expanded to Heather after Courtney's multiple attempts to throw challenges and her jealousy at Heather's feelings towards Alejandro.
- While it was mostly one sided Courtney more or less viewed Zoey as this in All-Stars, despising Zoey's nice girl attitude.
- Scott developed many rivalries in his debut season, but the only one of these that persisted is the one with the four-legged shark monster called Fang. The first time Fang attacked, one of his teeth broke when he tried to bite Scott. Because of this, Fang continued to hound Scott until he finally succeeded in mauling him. Scott survived but developed a crippling fear of sharks as a result.
- Jo and Lightning developed into this. Seeing each other as the biggest threat to themselves, they constantly try to get the other eliminated.
- She also developed a huge rivalry with Brick, where they would always try to one-up each other and was eventually responsible for his elimination.
- Mike's greatest enemy is his own evil alternate personality Mal. Not only did Mal get Mike thrown in Juvie as a kid, but in All-Stars Mal take over Mike's body and physically attacks several of Mike's friends. It was only with the help of his other personalities that Mike was able to regain control of his body.
- Sugar is convinced Ella is this to her, as she believes Ella is trying to steal her spotlight. This is one-sided however because Ella only wants to be Sugar's friend.
- Chris McLean to every contestant on Total Drama. No matter how much some contestants will come to hate each other, they will always hate Chris more. The First Generation cast in particular hates him the most, and all of them do not want to be on the show anymore — if you gave all of them a choice between having the million or never having to be on Total Drama again, all of them, including Heather, the one most obsessed with the money, would choose the latter in a heart beat.
- That being said, the only contestant he hates just as much is Topher, who constantly made comments that made Chris feel insecure and attempted to steal his job.
- The Ice Dancers and the Police Cadets take over in the Ridonculous Race Spin-Off.
- Also from The Ridonculous Race Spin-Off were the stepbrothers Lorenzo and Chet, where they were constantly at each other's throats and were forced to sign up for the show by their recently-married parents. They do however, warm up to each other by the end of the show.
- Bowie and Julia quickly get at each other's throat in the reboot.
- Chase is temporarily an Unknown Rival type to Emma in the reboot.
- Ripper is one for Axel, Priya and Millie, with him and Axel immediately forming an intense rivalry and Priya being desperate to get him eliminated after he used her as a Human Shield while Millie tries to get him eliminated for using her pillow to block his farts.
- Much like Bowie, Julia also becomes one for Caleb once the latter learns she's been manipulating him and Priya to not talk to each other. It gets more personal once Julia uses the stolen immunity idol and has Priya eliminated instead.
