This OVA contains tropes of:
- Alternate Continuity: This is an alternate version of the Fortune Cup finals.
- There is no indication that any of the main characters are Signers.
- Aki is already friends with Rua, Ruka and Yusei.
- Hypocritical Humor: When Yusei appears, Rua begins shouting and cheering for him. Ruka states that he doesn't have to yell that loud but as Aki points out she yelling herself.
- Graceful Loser: Jack smiles after being defeated.
- Product Placement: This special was made mainly to promote the then-released Crimson Crisis booster set.
- What If?: This special basically asks what if the Crimson Dragon never interfered with the duel between Yusei and Jack.
