Works with their own pages:

Crossovers
  • Code Geass: Paladins of Voltron:
    • In Code Geass, the SAZ Massacre was due to Lelouch accidentally Geassing Euphie with the order to kill all of the Japanese. Here, it was due to Charles selling out to the Galra Empire, causing the Galra and Britannian soldiers loyal to Charles to start killing people.
    • Additionally, in canon Euphemia was shot by Lelouch as it was the only way to stop her, and it wound up killing her. Here, it was due to Nebiros being there with orders to kill Euphemia and Nunnally, and Suzaku got Euphemia to the Castle of Lions in time for a cryo pod to be used to heal her.
  • Hell's Boiling Point:
    • In canon, the duel at the Covention was due to an ill-conceived wager between Luz and Amity. Here, it's set up by Lilith as an attempt to capture Eda, since Hellboy put a stop to it before Luz could even finish the sentence (Luz having been temporarily banned from doing magic by her mom, and only having one useless light spell).
    • In canon, Eda running out of her elixer was due to her Hexas Hold'em addiction. Since said addiction has been Adapted Out, it's instead due to her being distracted by the Arrival of Hellboy and the events at the Covention.
    • The destruction of Tibbles' tent. In canon, it was trampled by Hooty. Here, it's blown up by a vengeful Eda.
  • J-WITCH Series:
    • Daolon Wong's deal with Shendu. In canon, it was to get access to the powers of the dragon talisman. Here, it's to acquire an ally to help overthrow Phobos and find a way to control all the Shadowkhan tribes.
    • In the canon episode "E is for Enemy", Nerissa attacks the Guardians in their dreams for no apparent reason other than trying to harm them. Here, in that episode's adaptation "Nightmares and Daydreams", the attacks are a cover for how Nerissa is trying to access Jade's memories to figure out what makes her so special.
    • As in canon, the heroes take a piece of Shendu's stone form to use in a spell they're devising for Drago because of their familial DNA. However, while in canon it was Jade doing this for a spell to block Drago from absorbing the Demon Chi, here it's Alchemy doing it for a tracking spell.
  • Jaune Arc, Lord of Hunger:
    • In canon, Jaune's friends noticed that he seemed depressed, which was caused by his feelings of inadequacy. Here, it's caused by the Mask of Nihilus' influence on Jaune's mind as well as sleep deprivation from his tendency to stay up all night.
    • Pyrrha asking Jaune whether he believes in destiny. In canon, it was related to Pyrrha being uncertain about whether she should become the next Fall Maiden. Here, it's asked in the context that Pyrrha is referring to herself and Jaune.
    • The scene from Volume 3 where Pyrrha accidentally uses her Semblance to throw Jaune into a wall out of stress is changed so that she intentionally does it out of self-defense when Jaune violently grabs her arm and almost uses his Force Drain on her.
  • In My Hero Academia canon, Nine was based off of the number of Quirks he has. In My Hero Academia: Unchained Predator, Nine's name was based off of his first Pro Hero kill at nine years old, as Chimera explains to Wolfram's lackeys.

Adventure Time

  • Something More (Adventure Time): Finn enters a relationship with Flame Princess and ends getting dumped by her here like in canon, but while in the show it was due to Finn manipulating FP into fighting Ice King to satisfy a strange dream he had here she breaks up with him due to FP realizing that her feelings for Finn drive her to irrational anger after she came to believe that Finn thought she'd been the one to hire Scorcher to kill PB.

Amphibia

  • A Moth to a Flame: In the episode "True Colors", Marcy's desperate statement of "I gave you this, I gave you everything!" comes at the end of a confession that she knew what the music box was capable of. While that is still the case in the fic, in canon, it came from a place of guilty pleading about she didn't want to lose her friends. In this fic, it comes at the end of an added unhinged rant where she's trying to convince Anne that they can join together and conquer Earth, and that coming to Amphibia was destiny.

Animorphs

  • All Assorted Animorphs AUs:
    • In "What if they were caught during their first mission?", Jake says "Don't give up. Don't ever give up," to Tom, just like in The Capture. In the book, he said it anonymously over the phone as a gesture of kindness now that he understands how horrible being a host feels; in the fic, he's informing Tom to his face that there's a hope they'll both be saved from the Yeerks.
    • "What if Tom was infested by a Member of the Yeerk Peace Movement?" is about a Yeerk in Tom who overthrows Esplin, leads a rebel faction, and gets the morphing cube from Cassie. Unlike in canon, this Yeerk is Aftran, who's entirely on the Animorphs' side.
  • Chapter 12 of What if the Yeerks Were the Good Guys? shows a few scenes from Animorphs #1: The Invasion from Tom's perspective. He still tells Jake that he quit the basketball team to focus on the Sharing, but this time it was all of his own volition.

Arrowverse

  • Blackbird (Arrow): Oliver still makes Malcolm Ra's al Ghul, but the circumstances leading up to that decision are entirely different. Instead of it being a deal he made with Malcolm in order to get his help with defeating Ra's and stopping the League from destroying Starling, here it's because Malcolm blackmails him by holding Walter's life hostage. Therefore, instead of Oliver holding the Idiot Ball by making such a short-sighted choice in order to uphold the deal he made, here it's clear the situation is one where there is no choice but to give Malcolm what he wants, so nobody holds it against him for giving in. In addition, as this all happens before the characters find out about the Undertaking, no one present at the time is aware of how dangerous it is to give that Malcolm that kind of power, only finding out after they return home and explain the situation to Moira and Walter.
  • Different Queens: In canon, Quentin's resentment of Oliver was harsh but understandable, since he snuck on his younger daughter Sara onto the Gambit so he could blow up his relationship with Sara's older sister Laurel by having an affair, which led to Sara's apparent death. Here, thanks to the gender changes (Oliver was born Olivia, Laurel was born Loren, and Thea was born Theo), Olivia wasn’t cheating on Loren at all by inviting Sara and both families were well aware she was going on the trip. This makes Quentin's hatred of Olivia completely unjustified, since he's essentially blaming an innocent girl for the "tragic accident" that killed her father and her best friend. Loren therefore has no sympathy whatsoever for his father when he starts harassing Olivia and warns him to back off from his ex-girlfriend.

Disgaea

Disney Animated Canon

  • The collective term "we don't talk about Bruno" was implied to be one that formed naturally among the Madrigals and the villagers in Encanto. In ⫚ - His Daughters, The Miracles of the family, it was an edict forced onto the family by Alma. Because Bruno was Isabela, Luisa and Mirabel's father in this version and they still love him in spite of leaving, this leads to the three of them slowly ignoring her authority as matriarch out of spite.

Discworld

  • In the short story "Troll Bridge", Cohen the Barbarian draws his sword, thrusts at the air a couple of times, and says "Still got the old knackarooney." In the Snowgum Films fanvid, he says this when he finally gets it to corsucate with blue lightning, something it doesn't do in the story.

Hazbin Hotel

  • Women of Eden:
    • In the Book of Genesis, Cain killed Abel because God preferred Abel's offering of sheep instead of his crops. Here, he grew jealous that Lucifer showed favoritism towards Abel, unaware that it was actually because Abel was Lucifer's biological son.
    • In Hazbin Hotel, Lucifer tempted Eve with the fruit of knowledge because he thought that humanity would thrive with free will. Here, she was given fruit to bite down on to mask her immodest orgasm. While she didn't actually eat the apple, some juices still made it into her system and it affected her anyway.

The Hunger Games

  • Saving the Boy: Peeta's knack for expertly manipulating the crowd is played up a lot more positively here since Katniss is not his district partner and has no reason to alienate him as a result. Instead, as she's his mentor, it comes as a relief to her since it improves his chances of surviving the Games.

Invader Zim

  • Witching Hour: In canon, Nick is a victim of Zim's who was Kidnapped for Experimentation and had a giant probe inserted into his brain that made him constantly happy against his will. In this story, which is a Historical AU set in Medieval times, he's always happy because he was kicked in the head by a mule as a child, or so the rumors say.

The Locked Tomb

  • it's about the bones: Harrow being a Lyctor is an entirely different context here, since she was the cavalier. God treats this as mildly mysterious, Mercymorn and Augustine treat it as horrifying, and the Saint of Duty stoically treats it as the greatest gift they've ever been given.

Mandela Catalogue

  • The Mandela Magazine: The scene of Cesar's mother yelling "NO!" while being attacked by an Alternate in Mandela Catalogue is reversed in Mandela Magazine, with the Alternate screaming "NO!" after Cesar's mother tries to turn the light on.

Miraculous Ladybug

  • Alya and the Harem Reality: Per Word of God, every villain's origin in the post-Wish timeline is at least a little different, if not very different, from their canon counterparts.
    • Princess Fragrance in canon was created after Chloe tore up her letter to her crush Prince Ali. In story she was created after some school guys made fun of her because they could tell she'd been in the hospital, causing Juleka to run off crying.
    • Weredad in canon was created because Cat Noir admitted he wasn't attracted to his daughter after a series of mishaps and covers went wild. Here he was akumatized because some customers slapped his daughter on the buttocks.
    • Vanisher in canon was created when Chloe outright ignored Sabrina and told her she was invisible after an argument. Here Vanisher was created because she felt like Chloe was replacing her with Marinette.
    • Simon Says in canon was created when Gabriel rudely refused to take part in The Challenge and then was mocked and dragged off set on Alec's orders. In the story, Simon was even more quickly rebuked by Tomoe in the final found, not only costing him any chance of victory but being dialed someone who was blind and thus completely impossible for his cards to do anything to made him and the temporary hosts Aurore and Mireille feel like it wasn't fair at all.
  • Crimson and Noire:
    • In canon, Max becomes the Gamer when Marinette beats him in the school's Mecha Strike tournament. In Chapter 20, he gets akumatize after Adrien beats him, and Marinette, who had been Max's partner for years, agrees to partner with Adrien, making Max believe that she had "betrayed" him.
    • Nadja in canon becomes Prime Queen when her talk show gets canceled after her attempts to talk about Ladybug and Chat Noir's relationship fall south. In chapter 27, Nadja was pressured by her boss Arlette to ask Noire if her destructive powers make her a potential threat to the city, which causes Crimson to cancel the interview since they broke the promise to not treat Noire poorly, then Arlette fires Nadja even though she forced Nadja to do the interview and ask the hurtful questions. This leads Nadja to get akumatized and expose Arlette's actions.
    • In "Volpina", Lila was akumatized after Ladybug calls her out for lying about the two being best friends. In chapter 28 of the fic, it is implied she was akumatized after Adrien calls her out for trying to claim the fox-theme necklace from the Gabriel line (which was also one of his mother's favorite necklaces) was the Fox Miraculous.
    • Alya in the episode "Lady WiFi" is Akumatized due to her search for the heroes' Secret Identities leading her to suspect Chloe, break into her locker, and get suspended. In chapter 32, an unknown culprit had vandalized Marinette's desk with torn flowers and raw eggs, leading Alya to be akumatized to hunt down the culprit and make them pay for hurting her best friend.
    • Marc became Reverser in the show after Nathaniel accused him of using a fictional journal of Ladybug to prank him. In chapter 34, their first visit to the school's art club ends up with black paint spilling on their journal, and their own self-doubt pushes them to get akumatized.
  • In the series, Riposte was created when Kagami lost to Adrien in a fencing match and her sword becomes possessed by an akuma. In Lady Fairy, she is created from Kagami's rage at Lila for threatening Marinette and her fencing-helmet becomes possessed by an amok.

My Hero Academia

  • Normally, Katsuki Bakugo calls Izuku Midoriya "Deku" as a form of Malicious Misnaming, telling Izuku that he was useless when they were kids. In Support, a much more solid friendship, combined with Izuku using his intelligence to devastating effect to prank someone who stole his Quirk Analysis notebook, outright makes the context do a 180-degree spin: Katsuki is saying that Izuku is the one people should worry about the most.
  • Think Before You Speak: Canonically, Stain attacks Tensei for attempting to apprehend him, accusing him of being a "false hero" for daring to participate in the occasional advertisement. Here, Stain is disgusted by Tensei's unprofessional conduct after his younger brother was injured during training, particularly how he named names and nearly ruined another student's career. This spurs him to actively switch targets, planning to hunt down Ingenium directly.
  • During the Sports Festival finale match between Shoto and Katsuki, Katsuki is furious in his match since Shoto is refusing to use his fire quirk. In Viridescent, Katsuki's anger is more controlled but even greater than is canon because Shoto targeted Izuku for being the feared villain Heat Viper's son as a mean of surpassing his own father Endevour, and their fight exposed Izuku's heritage to the public, putting Izuku under the hateful eyes of the public because of it.

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks

  • Sunset's Steps: Everyone in Canterlot High (except the Rainbooms) still distrusting and hating Sunset even after the six month time span between My Little Pony: Equestria Girls and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks also due to one of Sunset's past incidents from before the events of Fall Formal coming to light where she framed Muharib for stabbing Snails by planting a bloody knife into her locker which led her to end up in juvie where she was raped by a female guard and became paralyzed when jumping off a roof, causing Quick to seek revenge on Sunset (due to her getting off lighter in comparison) and tell everyone at school about it.

Naruto

  • Ffreire's NaruFox AU:
    • Instead of battling Zaku in the Forest of Death with the cursed seal blazing through his body, Sasuke faces him as his opponent during the preliminary matches. This means that he breaks the Sound-nin's arms in front of a much larger crowd of witnesses, including Kakashi, Hayate and several other adults, without being under the influence of a seal that was never applied here.
    • Kankuro actually fights Shino for their scheduled match rather than bowing out to save his strength for the planned invasion. While their match goes the same way as their canonical skirmish, since they aren't enemies, Kankuro tells one of the medic-nin tending to them that he's got the antidote to the poison he used in his bag.
    • During their preliminary match, Temari asks Tenten to 'entertain' her with a better fight, spurring Tenten to call her out on being overqualified for Chuunin. When her match when Shikamaru arrives, Temari is distracted by various worries, like Kankuro's status post-match, while he knows he's up against a too-powerful opponent; this influences his decision to quit after giving her a good fight, with his comments afterwards implying that one of the reasons he chose to battle anyway was in order to distract her from whatever was bothering her.
  • Son of the Sannin:
    • Naruto's habit of claiming he'll become Hokage isn't out of a desire to be respected by the village, but rather because he was informed of who his biological parents were as a child and wants to follow in his late father's footsteps.
    • Naruto receiving the First Hokage's necklace from Tsunade is framed as a mother gifting her adopted son a family heirloom as a graduation present rather than him just getting it for winning a bet.
    • The Rescue Arc just before the Time Skip ends with a fight between Naruto and Sasuke even though the latter never defects. Instead, Obito used Kotoamatsukami on Naruto so he'll willingly turn himself over to Akatsuki and Sasuke is trying to Beat the Curse Out of Him.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

  • Advice and Trust: Asuka's argument with Shinji over forgetting to pack their lunches. In the anime it's legitimate, whereas in this fic, because they're hiding their relationship, Shinji deliberately forgot to pack the lunches so he and Asuka could stage a public argument to keep up appearances. In fact, a number of their canon arguments get this treatment, as cover in front of their guardian Misato.
Asuka: (discussing their next public argument) Ugh, that means school food. I won't even have to act that part. I like your cooking. Fine, that'll work.

OMORI

  • Hands (OMORI): Some of Mari's canon dialogue and unused Something dialogue is repurposed to make Mari sound predatory towards Sunny. For example, her catchphrase, "All it costs is your love!"- the love in this case being her sexual assaults. "Don’t be afraid. It’s not as scary as you think." has the same meaning here. And Something says "Sunny... I love you" is because that is what Mari would say while molesting him.

One Piece

  • This Bites! does this often:
    • In the anime Navarone Arc, the Straw Hats are focused solely on escaping the G-8 base with their acquired gold. In This Bites, the Straw Hats still want to escape, but Cross makes it a bet with Vice-Admiral Jonathan that they'll escape in twenty-four hours while helping reveal the base's weaknesses and proving the base is viable to the Marines, all the while planning to recommend Jonathan to the MI4 splinter sect.
    • In the manga, Luffy (angry at Foxy for shooting Shelly the horse) accepts Foxy's challenge to a Davy Back Fight without a second thought. In This Bites, Cross prevents Foxy from wounding Shelly, but Luffy accepts the challenge since he remembers from Shanks's stories that the Davy Back Fight will have a captain fight, which Luffy will use to beat up Foxy for being a fake pirate.
    • In the manga, Sabo regained his memories of Ace and Luffy after seeing a newspaper report of Ace's execution, which pushes him into a 3-day coma out of despair of losing one of his brothers and not being there to save him. In This Bites, he regains them from seeing the SBS broadcast of Luffy being pierced by Baron Omatsuri's arrows, his Big Brother Instincts restoring his memories.
    • In the manga, Keime was captured by Disco's men solely for the purpose of profit, forcing the Straw Hats and Hachi to attack the Human Auction House and save her. In This Bites, Keime was captured by Doflamingo's subordinates, who purposely lured the Straw Hats to the Auction House so they would get into conflict with the Celestial Dragons there. He makes it clear he seeks entertainment from them by leaving the string message "Don't Leave Me Hanging".
    • Downplayed when Luffy punches Saint Charloss. Like in canon, he does so for Hachi being shot after Taking the Bullet, but he is also spurned for making Cross broadcast an interview on the debauchery of Celestial Dragon and for Charloss's family sticking Vivi with a bounty that forced her to leave Alabasta.
    • In the manga, Bartholomew Kuma scatters the startled Straw Hats without them knowing they'll be sent to where they can train, with Luffy breaking down in despair at the seeming loss of his crew. In This Bites, the Straw Hats know what Kuma has in store for them; Luffy, the last one to be sent, becomes furious when he learns that Kuma planned on attacking and sending them away against their will if he didn't tell Cross beforehand, and uses his last moments to fight Kuma despite knowing he'll lose.
    • In the manga, Luffy goes after Blackbeard when he learns that he's the one that handed Ace to the World Government, with Ivankov intervening to remind Luffy that they still have a chance to save Ace. Here, Luffy has to stop Whitey Bay and Squard from doing the same.

The Owl House

  • Luz Noceda, The Fighter: The episode "Convention" has Luz challenging Amity to a witches' duel without a second thought after she steps on King's dropped cupcake. Once she realizes what she gotten into, she rushes to Eda in panic. Here, Luz keeps King's cupcake from being smashed, but challenges Amity after the latter states she can't be a witch, which reminds Luz of the bullies she dealt with on Earth. However, since Luz here is a kickboxer and knows more spells, there is more assurance in her own ability to fight than in canon.

Persona 5

  • The Evil Queen: In the game, the Code Name Joker was chosen by Morgana because Joker's power to summon multiple personas made him the team's ace-in-the-hole. In the fic, Karasu chooses the code name as an Ironic Name, citing how it would be the perfect cover for someone as dour and serious as Akira.

Steven Universe

  • Steven and the Crystal GMs: The events of On the Run remain mostly the same with one notable difference Amethyst reveals that she was made by Pearl, in what she calls a case of Wife Husbandry. This changes the nature of the fight sequence significantly.
