-> '''Primary Weapon:''' Alucard Sword
-> '''Secondary Weapon:''' Alucard Shield

Count Dracula's [[{{Dhampir}} half-breed]] son who opposes his father to protect humanity. To that end, [[VideoGame/CastlevaniaIIIDraculasCurse he fought alongside Trevor Belmont during his adventure through Wallachia in 1476]], and [[VideoGame/CastlevaniaSymphonyOfTheNight later re-emerged in the 17th century to investigate the disappearance of Richter Belmont]]. Alucard comes to the battle armed with his heirloom sword and shield, as well as his numerous vampiric spells and powers.
----
* HomingProjectile: Alucard's Tetra Spirit spell summons three ghostly orbs that seek out his enemies.
* FlashStep: As usual, Alucard is capable of performing a quick teleport to [[BackStab attack his enemy from behind]] with his Alucard Sword, after which he returns to where he started.
* LifeDrain: As a half-vampire, draining the life of his enemies to sustain his own comes naturally to Alucard. He can do it in two ways — either by activating his Dark Metamorphosis, which grants health-draining potential to most of his attacks, or by attacking with his Muramasa, which is capable of draining life even without Dark Metamorphosis.
* LimitBreak: While he can't use the cross as one of his normal subweapons, he is nonetheless capable of executing its Item Crash, just like in ''Symphony of the Night''.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: The Alucard Shield is capable of effortlessly blocking most projectile attacks.
* PlayingWithFire: Alucard is capable of casting his father's trademark Hellfire and Dark Inferno spells, complete with teleport. He can even aim them up and down in this incarnation.
* RammingAlwaysWorks: Alucard can viciously body-slam enemies as either a bat or a wolf.
* SpamAttack: Surprisingly, ''not'' the Crissaegrim. Instead, Alucard has brought the Muramasa as a special move that, when executed, causes him to rapidly slash at whatever's in front of him, draining the foe's life if he connects.
* SuperMode: Dark Metamorphosis is a downplayed example. Activating it causes Alucard's attack power to increase, as well as giving most of his attacks a LifeDrain effect for the cost of a small amount of magic power per second. The effects aren't as dramatic as most characters' transformations, but it helps him sustain longer in fights.
* VoluntaryShapeShifting: As expected from his heritage, Alucard can transform into a bat (for flight and maneuverability), mist (to swiftly evade attacks), and a wolf (for vicious lunging strikes).
* YourSoulIsMine: Upon defeating a boss, Alucard will automatically activate Soul Steal to consume their spirit, giving his stats a small boost.

-> '''Subweapons:''' Dagger, Holy Water, Cross, Axe, Bible, Rebound Stone
-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/KiyoyukiYanada (Japanese), Scott [=McCulloch=] (English)

The most famous of the Belmonts after Simon, Richter Belmont was the Belmont who faced Dracula in the 1800s. He was the most powerful Belmont up to that point, with the ability to super-charge the mystic subweapons (a power that would come to be known as the Item Crash) and engulf his whip in flames. Of course, Dracula made the grievous mistake of making the feud personal for Richter by kidnapping four women from his home village, including his betrothed, Anette, and her adopted sister, Maria Renard. It hardly came as a surprise when [[RoaringRampageOfRescue Richter stormed Castlevania]] and whipped everything in his way into submission. Unfortunately, Dracula's right-hand man, Shaft, cast a spell that clouded Richter's mind, and in time, he came to see himself as worthless without Dracula around. He vanished without a word and established himself as the lord of Castlevania. It took the combined efforts of Maria and Alucard to bring Richter back to his senses, but none can say what became of him after that...
----
* DashAttack: Richter's Tackle, no doubt his most famous command move.
* HolyHandGrenade: Holy Water, Cross, and Bible all deal holy damage.
* HyperDestructiveBouncingBall: The Rebound Stone in a nutshell.
* LimitBreak: Richter's famed Item Crash is his ultimate attack, pushing his currently equipped subweapon to the utmost for a powerful attack.
* PlayingWithFire: Richter's SuperMode engulfs his whip in flames, increasing his attack power. He can also engulf his whip in flames for one stroke as a special attack.
* RoundhouseKick
* ShockAndAwe: The Agunea allows Richter to engulf his foe in a flurry of lightning bolts.

[[folder:Hanz Belmont]]
-> '''Primary Weapon:''' Vampire Killer
-> '''Secondary Weapon:''' Vampire Killer
-> '''Special Action:''' None
-> '''Subweapons:''' Dagger, Holy Water, Cross, Axe, Bible, Rebound Stone

A mysterious Belmont whose adventures have not been documented. Nonetheless, he has been called to the time rift by Saint Germain. Hanz Belmont does not have his own character slot; instead, he is treated as an alternate palette of Richter Belmont. They share most of the same moves, though each has a few the other cannot perform, and their stats are very different from one another.
----
* GlassCannon: He has the lowest HP in the game.
* MovesetClone: He's one for Richter, save for a few variations noted here.
* PlayingWithFire: Hanz can ignite his whip for one attack, and a separate attack makes him explode in flames which damage his immediate vicinity.

* LimitBreak: Hers summons whichever of TheFourGods she has equipped to unleash their full power.
* LittleMissBadass: Her child incarnation certainly counts.
* MagicMusic: Rondo!Maria can attack through singing.
* PlayingWithFire: The Vermillion Bird deals fire-elemental damage, and [=SotN=]!Maria can unleash a flamethrower from her hand.
* ShockAndAwe: The White Tiger deals electric-elemental damage.

Shanoa uses the power of Glyphs, magic that she uses to destroy the children of the night. She was an AmnesiacHero due to a botched ritual, but the events of her game come to make her realize that the power she would've wielded to kill Dracula for good would end up killing her, and that the thing she would've used it on would've instead freed Dracula. Though friends with her, he steals Dominus and Shanoa's memories at the start of the game, and kidnaps the villagers of a nearby town. Despite his actions sounding rather villainous, he was actually trying to find a way to control Dominus and knows that using it would lead to the user's death. He wanted to sacrifice himself in place of Shanoa, but he gets possessed by Dominus and was killed by Shanoa. Due to Shanoa taking all the Glyphs of the villagers, he manages to survive in Shanoa's soul, and later when Shanoa uses Dominus to kill Dracula, he pays its price in place of Shanoa so she can live. He returns as a playable character in this game.

There, he learned that he has the power to steal the souls of his enemies — and furthermore, that he is the reincarnation of Count Dracula. Thankfully, he successfully resisted the chaotic forces that attempted to seduce him and escaped from the castle with his conscience and identity intact. The following year, he was attacked by a cult seeking the return of the Dark Lord, but he was able to overcome their trials and remain true to himself. 159
The latest member of the Belmont Clan, and the one who holds the honor of putting Count Dracula down for good by sealing his castle and soul in a solar eclipse in 1999. However, he lost his memory in the process. Like Soma, he was drawn back to Castlevania in 2035. There, he regained his memory through his encounters with Soma Cruz, and challenged the youth to mortal combat upon discovering that he was in fact Dracula. Soma was able to fight Julius to a standstill, after which he extracted a promise from him: if Soma succumbed to the darkness in his soul, Julius would put him down.

The latest member of the Belnades Clan, who was sent by the Church in the year 2035 to investigate the return of Castlevania alongside Genya Arikado. She became somewhat of a friend to Soma, and a supporter for him not to fall and become the new Dark Lord. In the following year of 2036, she returns to help him when a cult arises to try and force the issue of making a Dark Lord arise. He emerges victorious, but in the case that he falls to become the new Dark Lord once more, she aids Julius in putting him down. Like most of the other characters, she was called to stop Dracula from affecting anywhere else.

A year later, he helped Soma track down the cult trying to create a new Dark Lord, following Soma as he infiltrated their lair to once more act as a peddler of useful goods. 208-> '''Special Action:''' Laurels
-> '''Subweapons:''' Dagger, Holy Water, Cross, Axe, Bible

When most people hear the name "Belmont", this is the guy they think of. His adventure in the 16th century to defeat Count Dracula, as well as his subsequent adventure to gather Dracula's body parts, resurrect the Dark Lord, and kill him again to free himself from the Count's DyingCurse, are the stuff of legend. So it's only natural that he'd be called upon to deal with Dracula at his most dangerous.

Simon Belmont is one of the characters whose alternate costumes play as different characters. In fact, he has two alternate modes — one based on his appearance in ''VideoGame/SuperCastlevaniaIV'', and one based on his appearance in [[VideoGame/{{Castlevania}} the original game]].

* HealThyself: His Laurels can heal himself.
* HolyHandGrenade: Holy Water, Cross and Bible.

The son of John Morris and grandson of [[Literature/{{Dracula}} Quincey Morris]], Jonathan Morris was tasked with [[VideoGame/CastlevaniaPortraitOfRuin investigating and dealing with the rise of Castlevania in 1944]], fueled by UsefulNotes/WorldWarII. There, he and his partner, Charlotte Aulin, took on the vampire Victor Brauner, who sought to usurp Dracula and destroy humanity to avenge the deaths of his daughters during World War I. Fighting alongside Brauner were Stella and Loretta, the "reincarnations" of Brauner's daughters who were in truth the daughters of Eric Lecarde. Charlotte was able to free Stella and Loretta from their vampirism with the Sanctuary spell. With the sisters' help, Jonathan and Charlotte unlocked the Vampire Killer's power, then confronted and defeated Brauner, who was disposed of by Death after the battle. Jonathan and Charlotte proceeded to battle both Dracula and Death in a no-holds-barred tag-team battle, with Jonathan and Charlotte ultimately emerging victorious. Now Jonathan has once more been called upon to deal with Dracula. If only he would stop goofing off and take the situation seriously...
----
* [[spoiler:CastFromHitPoints: Attacking with the Vampire Killer while Jonathan is in Serious Mode will make him lose bits of health.]]
* [[spoiler:CoolSword: The Holy Claymore he uses in Serious Mode counts.]]
* DefendCommand: A guard move that halves all incoming damage, or when timed right can nullify a large portion of incoming damage.
* EdibleBludgeon: His Lollipop, Bowls of Curry and Cream Pies certainly count.
* EpicFlail: His Wrecking Ball counts... but then the chain breaks and it becomes a HyperDestructiveBouncingBall that can even hurt Jonathan.
* FartsOnFire: His Aura Blast attack gets followed up by a farting noise with Jonathan saying "Sorry" at the end. [[spoiler:The fart and the apology is omitted in Serious Mode.]]
* FightingClown: Jonathan's choice of weaponry is... unorthodox, to put it mildly. Seriously, who goes into battle armed with a lollipop, a teddy bear, paper airplanes, and pies?!? And yet he can somehow whup Dracula's best troops, and even Dracula himself, with this ridiculous arsenal. [[spoiler:Though, truth be told, Jonathan's got more conventional weapons up his sleeves, too. He just won't use them without some complicated prompting.]]
* HolyHandGrenade: The Cream Pie can deal [[LightEmUp this kind of damage]], which is odd considering that it did [[CastingAShadow the exact opposite]] in his home game. [[spoiler:As can the Holy Claymore, Holy Water, Cross, and Bible when prompted to go serious.]]
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Who would enter a fight using Lollipops, Teddy Bears, Darts, Curry Bowls, Cream Pies, and Paper Airplanes as weapons!?
* [[spoiler:KonamiCode: Using it (only when Jonathan is still eligible for a perfect victory) prompts Jonathan to get serious and replaces his moveset with the ones presented in the spoiler texts.]]
* LetsGetDangerous: Read the above spoiler to learn how to do so.
* LimitBreak: For his ultimate move, Jonathan summons his partner Charlotte, and they perform their Holy Lightning [[CombinationAttack Dual Crush]]. [[spoiler:If Jonathan's fighting seriously, he'll instead execute his current subweapon's Item Crash.]]
* JokeCharacter[=/=]LethalJokeCharacter: Due to being disliked by Serio, he was made to be this... but his normal moveset isn't without its various uses or benefits. For example, some of his moves grant him a good portion of invincibility frames, or deal more hits.
* PlayingWithFire: The Bowl of Curry deals fire damage, and the Paper Airplane (when it has the red guy on it) does the same.

A distant relative to the Belnades Clan as Jonathan was to the Belmont Clan, Charlotte Aulin and Jonathan Morris were tasked with investigating Castlevania in 1944. As with Jonathan's entry above, the story remains the same for her save that unlike Jonathan, she fights seriously with her repertoire of spells.
----
* AnIcePerson: Her Ice Needles summon a spinning barrage of icicles that shoot out after a few seconds, and Tempest creates a vertically expansive gale of freezing air that shreds anything around or above her.
* BlowYouAway: Her Gale Force spell, although it strangely deals holy damage. Her Tempest spell deals slashing damage as expected though.
* CastingAShadow: Her Nightmare Spell launches a large lava sphere that rolls forward slowly, constantly dealing dark damage.
* ChargedAttack: Her spells can be charged for greater potency, unlike most other Subweapons.
* HealThyself: Her Heal spell in a nutshell.
* ManaShield: Her Spell Absorbtion command creates one.
* PlayingWithFire: Her Raging Fire spell sends a wave of fire onto the enemy.
* ShockAndAwe: Her Lightning spell sends a small cloud of lightning forth, and her Dual Crush summons Jonathan to use Holy Lightning with her.
* SummonMagic: Her Summon Gunman and Summon Skeleton spells summon the like to shoot or throw their bones onto foes.
* SuperSpeed: Her Speed Up spell rams herself into an enemy, simultaneously moving her really fast as well.
* TimeStandsStill: The Time Stop spell slows time for her enemies.
* ThrowTheBookAtThem: Her normal attacks involve opening her books at her enemies, from which swords and axes pop out to slash her enemies.

Stella Lecarde is the older twin daughter to Eric Lecarde, one of the heroes who sought for and destroyed Dracula when he arose during World War 1. When Castlevania arose once more in World War 2, Eric left to destroy the Castle and whoever gave rise to it once more. Worrying for his safety, Stella and Loretta enter the castle despite his instructions not to do so. When they finally find him, however, he's on the cusp of death due to having been killed by the maniacal Brauner. Brauner, however, sees the sisters as the reincarnations of his deceased daughters, and forcibly turns them against their will, messing with their memories in the process. Luckily, Charlotte is able to cure them before they fully turn into Vampires.
----
* BlowYouAway: Stella's attacks manifest as blades of wind slicing through her foes, though they deal slashing damage.
* CombinationAttack: She can call up Loretta to freeze her sword into a huge ice one, which she then rushes forwards and slashes upon the enemy with.
* CoolSword: A rapier to be precise is Stella's weapon of choice.
* InconsitentSpelling: Her name is rendered as Stella Ricard in this game.
* SwordBeam: Her Hurricane attack unleashes a circular slash forwards, while her Crescent Moon attack throws a crescent shaped projectile that homes in on the opponent after a few seconds.
* ThreeStrikeCombo: Her primary attack consists of a 3-hit combo.

The younger twin sister to Stella, Loretta is available in the game as well. She doesn't have her own character slot, instead being selectable only by pressing start while choosing Stella. She has her own stats and moveset.
----
* AnIcePerson: She specializes in ice magic.
* DeathFromAbove: Her Icicle Drop spell does this.
* KillItWithIce: Her entire moveset is based on various ways she can freeze people or jam icicles into them.
* SizableSnowflakes: When her attacks aren't icicles, they're this or involve this.

A common enemy within Castlevania is often armor animated (or a corpse wearing the armor, it's never made clear) and wielding weapons to attack possible intruders. However, in some games, like ''Symphony of the Night'' or ''Portrait of Ruin'', it's possible to play as one of these Armors. In ''Symphony'', it was more of a joke armor that Alucard wore, but in ''Portrait of Ruin'', the Axe Armor got its own mode and menagerie of weapons to its own name. It was also one of the first characters to be playable in this game, too.
----
* BigFuckingSword: More like Big Fucking Axe in its Axe Slam attack.
* DashAttack: Axe Armor can charge straight through an enemy as an input.
* HavingABlast: Its Bomber Armor power allows it to throw a bomb instead.
* HomingProjectile: Axe Armor's item crash has several axes home in on a target and constantly deal damage.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Like Alucard's Shield, Axe Armor's shield can be used in the same way.
* SwordBeam: One of its special attacks creates this with its axe.
* {{Teleportation}}: Like Soma's doll, Axe Armor's doll functions the same way.

* LifeDrain: Her Vacuum literally sucks the life from her enemies.
* NinjaMaid: Uses ninja weaponry and martial arts atop of cleaning? Hell yeah!

-> '''Secondary Weapon:''' Punches
-> '''Special Action:''' DSS Mode
-> '''Subweapons:''' Dagger, Holy Water, Cross, Axe, Bible, Stopwatch

Nathan Graves is the Protagonist of ''VideoGame/CastlevaniaCircleOfTheMoon'', and one of the vampire hunters who went to help destroy Dracula as he was being resurrected. Sadly, they arrived too late, and he was separated from his master, Morris, along with his comrade Hugh. As he goes throughout the castle, he finds that Hugh's old grudges (along with a dose of brainwashing from Dracula) have come to the front the more Nathan helps Hugh, and he ultimately has to fight his own friend before facing Dracula. Thankfully, he still manages to vanquish Dracula in the end.

Nathan is somewhat unique compared to the other protagonists in ''Castlevania'' in that he seems to lack any connection to the Belmonts, save for using a consecrated whip known as the Hunter Whip, as well as subweapons, to fight in a similar manner.
----
* DashAttack: His own personal shoulder tackle.
* DoppelgangerAttack: His clone skill creates one that stays before him and attacks when he does.
* FireIceLightning: His Sword Slash deals one of these types of damage when selected.
* HomingProjectile: His non-DSS LimitBreak launches a large burst of homing stars.
* HolyHandGrenade: The Holy Water, Cross, and Bible Subweapons.
* LimitBreak: The Item Crash skill, which changes depending on whether he's in DSS mode or not.
* PowerCreepPowerSeep: Nathan's DSS system gave him unparalled elemental versatility in his own game, with 100 abilities he could use. Obviously, he only gets a small subset of his powers here.
* RoundhouseKick
* SuperMode: His DSS Mode, which grants his attacks more power and heals him when he deals damage to the enemy.

Hugh Baldwin is the son of Morris Baldwin, who helped seal Dracula years prior to the events of Circle of the Moon. This attack killed Nathan's parents, and as a result Nathan was raised and trained alongside Hugh. Despite the fact that Hugh had beaten Nathan at every task given to them as part of their training, he was astonished when his father presented Nathan with the Hunter's Whip and not him. This introduced a bit of a grudge within him, that only festered the more that Nathan was able to beat monsters that he couldn't. He was eventually brainwashed by Dracula using that resentment, and made to turn on Nathan. After being beaten however, he regains his senses and apologizes for it.
----
* ChargedAttack: 3 of his inputs can be charged to improve their effectiveness.
* HolyHandGrenade: The Holy Water, Cross and Bible Subweapons as well as his Holy Sword attack.
* LimitBreak: The Item Crash skill, which like Nathan changes depending on whether he's in DSS mode or not.
* PlayingWithFire: His Flame Strike attack in a nutshell.
* StormOfBlades: His normal item crash summons multiple blades which home in on a nearby enemy.
* SuddenlyVoiced: Given how Nathan's voice clips are lifted from the original [=GBA=] title and is the only character in that game to have a voice, Hugh is given the privilege of having a full voicebank lifted directly from Richter in ''[=DXC=]''
* SuperMode: His DSS Mode, which grants his attacks more power and doubles his Subweapon count.

Juste Belmont is the protagonist of ''VideoGame/CastlevaniaHarmonyOfDissonance''. Riding a bit on the accomplishments of his grandfather, Simon Belmont, he was trained from an early age to fight vampires, and had two good friends in the form of Maxim Kischine and Lydie Erlanger. His journey begins with Maxim's return from a two year training expedition, where he returned covered in wounds and suffering amnesia. He lead Juste to the Castle, claiming that Lydie was captured inside. As they explore the castle more and more, it becomes more apparent that Maxim has become possessed by Dracula, especially with the Castle being split into two portions representing Maxim's SplitPersonality. Eventually, Juste learns that Maxim-as-Dracula intended to use Lydie's lifeforce to obliterate Maxim's personality, but with the help of Dracula's Body parts, as well as the bracelets commemorating their friendship, he vanquished Dracula once more.
----
* AnIcePerson: His Ice Book skills, which can create a single shuriken shaped icicle that shoots projectiles at enemies, or that coats his fist in ice and he punches forth.
* HolyHandGrenade: The Holy Water, Cross, and Bible Subweapons.
* LightEmUp: A bolt book spell throws up several holy daggers that later rain down on the target.
* MagicKnight: Compared to the other Belmonts, Juste uses loads more magic in his arsenal. It helps that he has Belnades blood in his veins as well as Belmont.
* PlayingWithFire: The Fire Book skills, which either makes an exploding cross, a fireball that bounces around the room, or two flame dragons to pursue enemies. He also has Christopher's Soul, which fires a single fireball out of his whip.
* RapidFireFisticuffs: The Sacred Fist Subweapon as well as its corresponding LimitBreak.
* ShockAndAwe: The Lightning Book skill, which makes two bolts of lighting strike his sides and wave forth.

Juste Belmont's best friend and fierce rival who competed with him for the right to inherit the Vampire Killer. When Juste was chosen to inherit the whip, Maxim was filled with self-doubt, and set out to follow in Simon's footsteps by collecting the body parts of Dracula and resurrecting the Dark Lord in order to defeat him. This just led to Dracula possessing Maxim, who was only able to stave off the Count's full-fledged return by sealing Dracula within himself and suppressing his own memories of the incident, demoting Dracula to Maxim's SplitPersonality. This caused a dual Castlevania to emerge, and Maxim-as-Dracula abducted Lydie Erlanger, Juste Belmont's girlfriend, with the intention of using her lifeforce to obliterate Maxim's personality and restore himself once more. Maxim somehow stopped himself, hid Lydie away in the castle, and escaped, and then, lacking any memory of his own actions, [[VideoGame/CastlevaniaHarmonyOfDissonance proceeded to bring Juste to Castlevania to investigate Lydie's disappearance]]. As the two friends investigated, Maxim's evil side steadily took control. Ultimately, Juste confronted Maxim in the center of the castle, then used Dracula's body parts and two bracelets commemorating their friendship to exorcise Dracula's spirit from Maxim. Juste defeated the Count and rescued his friends from Dracula's lair. Now Saint Germain has given Maxim a chance to make up for his earlier mistakes by facing Dracula for real.
----
* DoppelgangerAttack: Maxim has three moves like this. One involves him conjuring a single duplicate to flank the enemy and attack in tandem, increasing the MP costs of his other attacks and steadily draining his MP while in use, but effectively doubling his attack power. The second is to summon an army of duplicates and send them flying in all directions, tearing through everything in their way for several seconds. The third, which is his LimitBreak, is to split into two and relentlessly attack everything on screen, leaving afterimages in their wake.
* HealThyself: Maxim has a healing rain spell that he can use to restore his own HP. Not only that, he can also use it to heal his partner in co-op.
* {{Ninja}}: See his list of subweapons.
* LimitBreak: Maxim's ultimate move is [[DoppelgangerAttack to split into two, after which the two Maxims unleash a rapid and relentless flurry of attacks against everything on-screen]].
* SpamAttack: Maxim has two moves like this. One is a flurry of rapid-fire stabs. The other is his massive DoppelgangerAttack.
* UnnecessaryCombatRoll: Maxim can initiate a continuous roll from midair. He can't be hurt while he continues to roll, but the technique steadily drains MP.

Carrie Fernandez is one of the protagonists of ''VideoGame/Castlevania64'', alongside Reinhardt Schnieder. A young descendant of the Belnades Clan, when Dracula arose in the events of ''Legacy of Darkness'', she was one of the few people who rose to the challenge of vanquishing him after his forces killed her stepmother, who sacrificed her life to save Carrie. During her travels, she also fights against the witch Actrise, who tries to force Carrie to sacrifice her life for Dracula and later shows how she gained eternal youth by sacrificing 100 children in Dracula's name, including her own daughter. Carrie, ultimately disgusted with Actrise's actions and Dracula's mercilessness, dispatches them both.

** Bone Cross acts like the regular cross, but the Alt. Bone Cross rebounds around the room like a Rebound Stone.

* HealThyself: She can somehow heal herself using [[AnIcePerson ice magic]].
* HolyHandGrenade: Holy Water and Cross.
* LightEmUp: Her Saint Soul releases a holy projectile from her whip. The projectile is larger in Burning Mode.
* LimitBreak: Despite being Richter's distant ancestor, Sonia is somehow able to perform an Item Crash. Alternatively, she can blast everything onscreen with the Magic Soul while in Burning Mode.
* PlayingWithFire: The Fire Soul releases waves of fire to blast the enemy; the flames have greater reach in Burning Mode. Also, she can release fireballs from her whip in Burning Mode.

He was beaten and turned into a monster to guard the clocktower, but Trevor beat the curse out of him and turned him back to normal, recruiting him to fight Dracula with him. After Dracula was successfully killed, Grant devoted his efforts to help rebuild Wallachia. He too was summoned with the cast of heroes to help fight Dracula.

He would later come to guard over the Vampire Killer [[VideoGame/CastlevaniaPortraitOfRuin until his death at the hands of Brauner]]. 558----
* FakeShemp: ''Bloodlines'' Eric's voice clips actually come from Richter's appearance in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate''.
* GlassCannon: ''Judgment'' Eric is fairly frail in terms of HP, as to be expected of a child, but he makes up for this with heavier hits, more subweapons, and powerful charge attacks.
* LightningBruiser: He has a pretty sizeable health pool, is rather acrobatic, and can pretty quickly rack up damage with his combos.
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: ''Bloodlines'' Eric has a unique charge ability that allows him to build up power in the Alucard Spear, allowing him to enhance his specials with them. Meanwhile ''Judgment'' Eric lacks any sort of air dash manuever, but makes up for that with an extremely powerful upward vault.

A man with inflammatory powers. He is one of the dark lord's candidates. While Dario was just a boss for a good portion of the game's history, he was eventually PromotedToPlayable.
----
* AchillesHeel: Most of his special moves and heavy damage capabilities revolve around fire. Ironically, this ends up meaning that his boss version and Aguni will probably be the fights he struggles the most with, due to their immunity to fire.
* CastFromHitPoints: Dario can spend 50 of his HP to enhance his Pyrokinesis, giving him the ability to do more damage, upgrade his special moves, and burn enemies with hits.
* CloseRangeCombatant: His normal attack is fairly stubby, and while it can be enhanced to have more range, it still works best up close. His grenade and shotgun are also fairly short-range, and while his pistols and specials do have bigger reach, they eat through his MP pretty quickly, making it important that Dario eventually gets up close and personal.
* DamageOverTime: Part of the reason he deals such high damage is that his fire attacks inflict burns on his opponent, which slowly whittle away their HP. In his enhanced state, all his attacks will deal this, and the effect lingers for a pretty long time.
* DiscardAndDraw: Doesn't have the fire immunity that his boss form has, but he does get his own unique set of subweapons to make up for that
* GlassCannon: He can deal some pretty ludicrous amounts of damage, but he has to spend HP to do so, and his starting HP is rather small, so he has to be careful not to take too many hits.
* GroundWave: Slamming his fist on the ground, he can send a wave of fire at opponents. In his enhanced state, the wave wraps back around to deal some extra damage too.
* GunsAkimbo: His default subweapon is a pair of pistols that deal rapid fire damage over long range, at the cost of being significantly costly to his MP.
* PlayingWithFire: Dario's main characteristic.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter: One of his subweapons is a shotgun. While it has less range than his pistols, it costs him less MP to fire and does some pretty good damage.
* WreathedinFlames: Dario can do this to himself as one of his special moves. This has some very good anti-air coverage, and it gives him some temporary invulnerability.

It's unknown how this particular mook got involved in the fray, but that won't stop it from lancing through anything and everything in its way.
----
* FakeShemp: His voice clips come from Death's ''Judgment'' appearance.
* JavelinThrower: Tosses his spear like a javelin, which works as his equivalent of subweapons.
* WeaponTwirling: His Special Action involves rapidly spinning his spear for as long as he has MP left, letting him deal rapid-fire damage and destroy incoming projectile attacks. He can also jump around while twirling the spear.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: No subweapons or anything. Just a spear. And he'll get the job done just fine with that, showing mastery of the weapon.

She also acts as the chief "incident resolver" in Gensokyo alongside her friendly rival Marisa Kirisame. She apparently attracted the attention of Saint Germain when she resolved an incident in which the vampire Remilia Scarlet summoned a demonic castle in order to... [-[[DisappointedByTheMotive organize a treasure hunt...]]-] Okay, Gensokyo may not have been in any real danger, but Reimu had a hell of a time fighting her way through the castle, and the mettle she demonstrated during that incident was apparently enough for the guardians of time to consider her worthy of challenging Count Dracula.

The head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, Sakuya Izayoi is a powerful warrior with the ability to freeze time. Sakuya is the most loyal servant of the vampire Remilia Scarlet, a vampire who claims to be the descendant of Count Dracula (but she's probably lying). As such, Sakuya spends most of her time keeping the manor clean and chasing unwelcome guests away, as well as stabbing said unwelcome guests in numerous places if they don't take the hint and '''scram'''. When Remilia summoned the mysterious castle for a second time, without Sakuya's knowledge, Sakuya, worried about her mistress, took it upon herself to investigate. She found that Remilia was under the control of the boundary youkai Yukari Yakumo, who was trying to gather fighting energy to... [-awaken a cherry tree...-] Look, this cherry tree was really, really bad news, okay? [[ItMakesSenseInContext Take our word for it, this was a very bad thing!]] Much like Reimu's earlier adventure, Sakuya's efforts to rescue Remilia attracted the attention of Saint Germain, who called upon her to defeat the dangerous Count Dracula.
----
* ElementalPowers: One of her specials has her throwing [[AnIcePerson ice elemental daggers]], and putting in a different input will make them [[PlayingWithFire fire elemental]] instead.
* StormOfBlades: She can throw thousands of daggers at once, much like the Dagger Item crash for the Belmonts.
%%* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks

* EdibleAmmunition: The Big Mac subweapon is well cooked with saturated fats and meat of questionable origins, hazardous enough to damage unholy creatures of the night.

* DegradedBoss: In a sense. Abbadon was the penultimate boss of ''Dawn of Sorrow'', and had the appropriate degree of high resilience and ridiculously strong attacks to justify that position. Here, it shows up ''much'' earlier in the game, and is consequently much, much weaker.

----
* DevelopersForesight: Later updates after Serio's departure from development made Dario into a playable character. The boss version has a specific palette to make it easier to tell who's who during a MirrorMatch.
* PlayingWithFire: It's Dario. This is pretty much his trademark.
* NoSell: He's got an immunity to damage from fire attacks, so you can't fight fire with fire in his case.
* TurnsRed: When near death, Dario will amplify his moves, making them harder to dodge.
* WakeUpCallBoss: Go into Hard or Nightmare mode expecting the relatively straightforward Dario from the previous difficulties, and you '''will''' regret it. At these difficulties, Dario's attacks are pretty much instant, and they deal massive damage.

The embodiment of fire, a primitive god which was captured by Dracula's magic inside an alternate world which can only by accessed by entering through a mirror. Aguni is the main source of the pyrokinetic powers Dario Bossi controls.
----
* BreathWeapon: Aguni can breathe fire in a steady stream... and it's probably Aguni's ''least'' dangerous attack. Sure, it comes out quickly and can hit you repeatedly for massive damage if you get caught in it, but it doesn't reach very far and Aguni doesn't move while using it, letting you throw subweapons at him with impunity.
* CollisionDamage: Surprisingly, this is averted unless Aguni is in the middle of performing one of its diving or swooping attacks. Which is a small mercy, considering how relentless it is.
* DynamicEntry: Aguni enters the battlefield by trying to dive on top of you the ''instant'' the battle begins. Move quickly or you're going to start at a huge disadvantage.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: Okay, it might not quite be "fisticuffs", but Aguni's most basic attack is to chase you around while repeatedly trying to swat you with its claws.
* LightningBruiser: Aguni hits hard and moves ''very'' quickly.
* NoSell: Don't try to attack it with fire attacks. That just heals it.
* PlayingWithFire: Again, it's a fire demon. What did you expect it to attack with, ice?!?
* WakeUpCallBoss: Aguni serves as step up in the boss strength tier after the introductory opponents, with hard hitting moves, a decent sized health bar, special immunities, and being fairly tricky to reach. As such, the fight with it can be considered the point where the challenge really begins.

A powerful armored soldier given the task of guarding the castle's key spots.
----
* AdvancingBossOfDoom: Its basic strategy tends to be to keep approaching until you have little room to maneuver, in order to make the most of its slow attacks. Unless you have an attack with invincibility frames, you're not going to be able to get past this guy until you kill it.
* AnimatedArmor: Of the possessed type.
* ArmoredButFrail: Relatively low HP, but it'll feel like an eternity trying to whittle it down if you don't have magic attacks.
* LastDitchMove: The spirit possessing the armor will come out and explode. The fireballs this summons will cause damage if they connect.
* MightyGlacier: Its attacks are pretty slow and easy to predict. It makes up for this by using the fairly claustrophobic battleground it fights in to its advantage.
* StoneWall: Physical attacks deal very little damage, and it has a shield to block anything that doesn't hit the very top or bottom of him. On Hard and Nightmare difficulty, it will often assume a defensive position (usually in response to an Item crash) that completely shields it from damage.

* HyperDestructiveBouncingBall: His first phase's "Rolling Thunder" attack causes his elemental spheres to bounce diagonally across the room.
* PlayingWithFire: He can use his elemental spheres to generate explosions via his "Chant of Fire" attack.
* SequentialBoss: When his life is worn down, he'll suddenly regenerate and encase himself in a floating orb. You need to beat ''that'' form to win.
* ShockAndAwe: His second phase will conjure pillars of electricity via his "Chant of Lightning" attack, both vertically and horizontally. You'll need to have fine air control to get past the attack unscathed.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Dracula, as exhibited in his intro quote: "Count Dracula cannot be allowed to lose!" (It makes one wonder why he's a mid-game boss.)

A demon with mastery over time.
----
* EasterEgg: In his soundfiles, Zephyr has four voiceclips taken directly from ''VideoGame/JojosBizarreAdventureHeritageForTheFuture'', all originally said by series antagonist Dio Brando, whom Zephyr was created as a ShoutOut to. If you turn on random color palettes, there's also a chance Zephyr will appear with Dio's iconic Part 3 color scheme.
* NoSell: Any attempts to use a time slowing ability will be reversed shortly afterward.
* TimeStandsStill: Calls out such an ability with "Toki yo tomare!", resuming it with a call of "Toki yo ugoke!". On occasion he will call it out with "Za Warudo! Toki yo tomare!" resuming it with "Soshite toki ga ugokidasu."

An artist who became a vampire and renounced humanity.
----
* ArtAttacker: Most of his attacks involve weaponizing his paintings.
* LargeHam: Considering he was this in his debut game, and his voice clips haven't been changed, this is only a given.
* LifeDrain: He can grab you to steal your HP and add it to his own.
* TakenForGranite: His cyclops head painting will inflict Stone if it hits you.

* MakingASplash: Her defining gimmick, attacking with sprays of water and crashing waves.
* TacticalSuicideBoss: The pillars she drops down are the only way to get through her Maelstrom attack. Of course, you'll have to be careful not to destroy those by accident to use them.

A once-gentle beast, warped by magic and driven mad by imprisonment.
----
* BloodyMurder: It can expel its own blood from its chest to fire it at you in the form of a ray. In practice, it's like its infamous laser breath, except it comes out and moves more quickly and has limited reach.
* DeadlyGas: Gergoth can expel a poisonous mist from its chest. You can repel it by repeatedly attacking it, but it's much better to just get away. It also can expel mist that can petrify or curse.
* NoIndoorVoice: Gergoth's roars are by far the loudest sound clips in the game.
* WaveMotionGun: Its famous BreathWeapon returns and is as deadly as ever.

%% Administrivia/ZeroContextExample * EnergyWeapon
* FlunkyBoss: Big Paranoia and Little Paranoia fight together. The small one constantly respawns.
* LaughingMad: Every attack of theirs is complemented by a maniacal cackling.
* MirrorsReflectEverything: Bounces its laser attacks off the four mirrors in the corners of its arena.
* MirrorScare: Its introduction has the player character walk by its mirror, but instead of their own reflection, its Paranoia following them. It eventually comes out to start the battle once they realize it's there.

----

* TheRival: Can be considered one to Duke, as he gets a special voice intro calling back to the Cycloid Emperor from his home series.

A rogue agent of Ecclesia who possesses the magical gun Agartha. Exposure to the Dominus glyphs has allowed Dracula's spirit to take control of his body.
----
* AchillesHeel: Because he fights like a player character, this means his attacks cost him some MP to use. This makes him especially susceptible getting cursed, as it limits his arsenal for a while.
* FragileSpeedster: Has relatively low health for a late-game boss, but good luck trying to pin him down.
* IShallTauntYou: He occasionally stops was he's doing to laugh at you. It's probably your best chance to land blows on him, given his speed.
* MirrorMatch: He fights just like the playable Albus, except minus the ability to teleport (which he makes up for by being able to effortlessly leap across the room InASingleBound).

----
* AnIcePerson: Glacius, which freezes the floor for a second. If the player's not in midair, they'll be frozen too.
%%* CallingYourAttacks
* NonLethalKO: Due to the reusing of old sprites, Barlowe doesn't die when defeated -- he just falls to his hands and knees, desperately gasping for breath and helpless to prevent you from moving on. One can imagine that he gets crushed when Castlevania crumbles, though.
* PlayingWithFire: Igneo sees Barlowe launch several fireballs at the player.
* PunctuatedPounding: As he did before, he'll accentuate his flaming dash punches by shouting "HOW DARE YOU! EVEN FORGETTING! WHO RAISED YOU! YOU! STUPID DISCIPLE!" Even when he's not fighting Shanoa.
* ShockAndAwe: Cutting Truth turns him into an electrified HyperDestructiveBouncingBall. [[note]]Unfortunately for him, if you fight him in a small room, its flight path becomes incredibly repetitive, and therefore predictable, meaning the player can get some free hits in.[[/note]]

A descendant of Simon Belmont and renowned vampire hunter. Shaft has used his dark sorcery to bend Richter's will to his own.
----
* AnticlimaxBoss: He tends to be the last opponent before Death and Dracula... and he has ''way'' too little health to last long enough to be much of a threat by the point you fight him. That said, his relentless attacks can overwhelm you fairly easily if you get careless.
* LimitBreak: Starts both phases of the fight off with Grand Cross. You'll have to wait for him to finish the attack before you can start hitting him.
* MirrorMatch: Pretty much the only difference between this guy and playable Richter is that Possessed Richter can stay in his SuperMode for as long as he wants, but reserves it for when he TurnsRed.

----
* FantasticNuke: He's got his own particular version of Demonic Megiddo.
* FightsLikeANormal: Despite having a range of supernatural powers, Walter actually spends a good portion of the battle fighting with close quarters punches and kicks instead of his vampire powers.
* ShoutOut: He borrows [[Franchise/TheKingOfFighters Rugal's God Press]] as one of his attacks.

* MirrorMatch: [[AvertedTrope Nope!]] This is a completely different incarnation of Death from the playable one.[[note]]The playable Death is Death's OneWingedAngel form from ''Rondo of Blood''.[[/note]]
* NoSell: He's immune to damage from Dark elemental attacks. However, he's still susceptible to being cursed by those attacks.

The true master of the castle and the most legendary of all vampires.
----
* CastingAShadow: It's Dracula. [[FantasticNuke Demonic Meggido]] is just the most famous example.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Only in his second form, due to being huge and demonic.
* EnergyWeapon: In his second phase, he fires lasers at the ground to make it erupt in flames, similarly to Balore. In his third phase, he'll cast Fatal Ray and Destruction Ray, sending beams of light into the sky to rain down at you.
* LastDitchMove: In his final phase, Dracula gives up on fighting you conventionally and instead conjures swarms of bats to fend you off while he charges the '''Giga''' Demonic Meggido. If you don't attack him relentlessly, he'll unleash a massive explosion of darkness, filling the screen and [[OneHitKill instantly obliterating you]].
* NoSell: Dark elemental moves will heal him.
* OneHitKill: Giga Demonic Meggido leaves no room for you to survive or dodge. It's a screen nuke that sets your HP to zero, no ifs, ands, or buts.
* PlayingWithFire: It just wouldn't be Dracula without the Hellfire.
* SequentialBoss: He has a whopping four phases!
* ThisCannotBe: His reaction to being defeated.
* UnholyNuke: Demonic Meggido, borrowed from ''Portrait of Ruin''. The ''Order of Ecclesia'' variant shows up as the Giga Demonic Meggido, saved for Dracula's LastDitchMove.

----
* {{BFS}}: Has one that assists him as a familiar during the second face of his boss fight.
* DamageSpongeBoss: His second form has over ''6000'' HP, easily the highest unmodified HP total in the game.
* LifeDrain: Occasionally tries to grab hold of you to drain some HP.
* SequentialBoss: A two phase boss fight, first in regular form, then and second in OneWingedAngel form.
* TeleportSpam: Like most Dark Lords, he loves to warp around the place.
* TrueFinalBoss: If you manage to defeat Dracula while having a rosary in your inventory, but don't use it, Soma will teleport you away to challenge him.
* TurnsRed: Once you get his first form down to half HP, he summons a dark aura around himself and hits a lot harder.

----
* BeamSpam: You didn't think a ''Touhou'' boss was going to go light on the projectiles now, did you?
* JavelinThrower: One of her more powerful attacks has her toss Gungnir around a few times in a random direction, leaving not only the spear to avoid, but a flurry of lasers that appear from its trail.
* LifeDrain: Like Dracula and Brauner, she has a special move that allows her to grab her opponent and suck out some HP.
* OptionalBoss: She can only be faced in Survival Mode.
