YMMV can't be played with.

* ObviousJudas: Drile's EstablishingCharacterMoment is when he's caught attempting to sell his Sand Mastery for money. When it turns out he's survived the massacre, it seems obvious who's the inside man. [[spoiler: Then it's subverted; Drile, while unpleasant, is a RedHerring. ''Elorin'' was the traitor]].

* OneSceneWonder: He only appears on a handful of panels, but [[spoiler: Trell]]'s presence sure sparked some discussion.

** Of course, that brings up a few questions that Kenton, at least, has not asked: [[spoiler: Why, for example, would Drile orchestrate the mass murder of his colleagues, just to get to the Lord Mastrell? How and why did he poison the goblet ''before'' being outed and humiliated for his crimes? And last, but not least, why would highly mercenary, callous Drile ally himself with the fanatic Kreztian warrior-priests, who have as a major point of doctrine that Sand Mastery is inherently blasphemous?]]
** [[spoiler: This is ultimately subverted; Drile, while unpleasant, is a RedHerring. ''Elorin'' was the traitor]].

* BrokenBase: While the 17th Shard fan forum is extremely serene and rational, especially compared to many others, ''White Sand'' is still a point of contention among them. Some say that it's far worse than the book it's based on (which is available from Sanderson by asking for it), while others call it SoOkayItsAverage and yet others praise it highly, calling it a great introduction to graphic novels and a good story in its own right. The problem likely lies in the fact that the format doesn't really play to Sanderson's strenghts - worldbuilding and dialogue - and the adaptation omits a lot of both.
