* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The fight against [[spoiler:the Alpha Wendigo]] is out-of-place both in gameplay and in the setting; it's much more involved than any of the other, more basic fighting sequences of the game, and you transition from a government facility to a dark cave to fight it, only to return to the facility, making it feel like an unnecessary diversion.
* UnintentionallyUnwinnable: You need energy to proceed at several points. Most of the times you have some means to restore it within reach, but there are a few places without orbs or batteries (that replenish over time), so if you somehow managed to drain all your energy (which the game goes a long way to make sure it won't happen), then your only chance is to drain the life of something. If you managed to kill even those, you can still commit suicide, so you get shunted back to a safe place where you can get some energy. Except if you already killed most of the valley and killing yourself would result in a game over.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Pretty much all of the music is diverse and atmospheric, perfectly suited for its situation. High points include the ''[[Film/LordOfTheRings Lord of the Rings]]''-esque "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybn3klr8Lzc Life Yet In These Metal Bones]]" (for the first segment after you get the LEAF suit) and the hard-driving "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4i7WP8s004 Thundering Charge]]" (for the rail sequence in Soma Reactor).

* [[Awesome/VideoGameLevels Best Level Ever]]: The first half of Soma Reactor gives you an upgrade that significantly boosts your speed while on electrified rails, an extensive tram system to justify those rails, and lets you loose. It's technically nothing more than running down a hallway, but between the ludicrous speed and the intense music, it's one of the most exhilarating sequences in the game.
