* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: This is one of the main contributors the movie's negative reception. Marketing has it perceived as having a WesternAnimation/TheSecretLifeOfPets-esque premise of Queen Elizabeth II's top corgi getting lost and trying to find the way home, yet the actual film has lots of mature humor and themes no one would expect for a kids' movie: mild profanity throughout, Charlie's attempt to murder Rex the said corgi, the very intense dog fights, a dog that's addicted to cocaine (GRatedDrug actually shoelaces), Wanda used as a stand-in for an exotic dancer in an abusive relationship with the fight club owner, most egregiously, Creator/DonaldTrump's lewd portrayal and Rex being sexually harassed by Trump's corgi as reference to Trump's sexual assault allegations. However, it should be noted the film was produced in Belgium, where standards for family-friendly content are different.

* AudienceAlienatingPremise: The (brief) appearance of an animated was treated as a selling point by the trailers. Given how controversial the 45th President of the United States was both domestically and internationally, many people chose to skip this movie and that's all we'll say on the matter.

Natter, Justifying Edit, and references a Darth Wiki trope.

* CriticalDissonance: The film currently holds 0% on Website/RottenTomatoes, with critics panning the crass, family-unfriendly humor and the political and pop cultural jokes that will quickly date the film. Audience reception is somewhat more positive (38% on Rotten Tomatoes), with some viewers appreciating the adult jokes. WebVideo/Saberspark, for example, gave a very positive review of the movie (then again, that guy is a youtuber who reviews DarthWiki/SoBadItsHorrible movies, to the point that something like BattlefieldEarth would seem good compared to the stuff he watches).

just to clarify, I say this not as a rabid Hatedom member of this movie or anything, but as a fan of sabrespark. the movies he reviews are truly that bad, and he's even lampshaded once that this has indeed greatly lowered his standards for movie quality
