ItGetsWorse; [[spoiler: she nearly loses all of the funds she raised for Bin-Er in a game of Sparrowbones, and her sky bison Nujian dies to a combustionbender who betrayed Yangchen after she rescued him. Said combustionbender was also a ''child'' with massive PowerIncontinence, so now Yangchen has the DeathOfAChild on her conscience as well]]. You just want to give her a hug by the end of the novel.
