* TheyCopiedItNowItSucks: No matter where you go, expect any conversation about ''temtem'' to bring up how similar it is to ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}''. It is certainly one of the games biggest criticisms and many have been disappointed by just how much it takes from Pokémon without adding much to change the formula.

** Tucma. Just, '''Tucma in general.''' An island that was subjected to Anak Volcano's toxic fumes and ashes, drastically turning the entire island into a wasteland. If that is not scary enough, you'll also notice that the island's water became so toxic, to the point to become a dangerous corrosive acid that cannot be drinked if not filtered.
*** Tucma is also the home of Temtem such as Mushi, Toxolotl, Blooze. Orphyll, Zephyruff, Kalabyss, Platypet and Adorobos, all of which shares the Toxic Type. That's right: there are temtem that feeded and thrived themself with '''chemicals''' that would have killed other temtem that aren't sturdy.

*GameBreaker:
** Nessla has a special trait called Electric Synthesize, which heales it if hit by an electric move. The best part is that Nessla is also a Water/Electric temtem, giving it a reasonable amount of damage. Considering that the temtem trainers never checks for the traits, it's possible to defeat Max's Oree and Dr. Hamijo's Zaobian by sending a combo of Ganki/Gazuma and Nessla, and then spamming Chain Lightning at temtem that are weak to electric, without the worry of being damaged by electric moves.

* NightmareFuel:
** After reaching Anak Volcano and defeating many Clan Belsoto grunts (including lab assistants), you see [[spoiler: Dr. Hamijo]] trying to experiment with Anahir, trying to create the perfect diamond. And while this is happening, Anahir receives electric shocks, to the point of dropping down, heavily harmed.
** After defeating the third dojo leader and about to go to the next island, the narwhal is attacked by Clan Belsoto [[spoiler: and Lady Lottie]] (which succedes into damaging the airship). What's even more scarier is the fact that there were civilians inside the narwhal. '''Let us repeat for you: Clan Belsoto attacked and caused an airship that had civilians to crash into another island... And all this, just to stop the protagonist.'''
** Tucma. Just, '''Tucma in general.''' An island that was subjected to Anak Volcano's toxic fumes and ashes, drastically turning the entire island into a wasteland. *** The first time you crash into the island, your character will find out that his stuff is missing, and that the crew that traveled with him, civilian included, are there as well. All while a purple mist is covering the area, which gives a sense of dread.
*** The worst part about Tucma is that people were forced to live in the underground, and that the remaining people became bandits and scavengers. But if that isn't enough...

** TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: Several Tamers you encounter have access to Temtem you don't have access to for several more islands (such as Hocus and Oree) or Temtem that are underleveled (Kalabyss, whose Toxic type is good for a synergy attack). Perhaps the most egregious is Sparzy, an Electric Temtem that counters both Wind and Water (which is nearly every Temtem the player could tame by that point), is only weak to one of the three starters, and is ''completely unobtainable as of the Early Access release''.

Added DiffLines:

* TearJerker:
** When you defeat [[spoiler: Dr.Hamijo]], you can opt to get Anihir. The kicker? The trait it has is called '''Trauma'''.
** The Narwhal's crash landing. There are civilians that are scared or hurt, two of the airship crew are hurt, another one is missing, and you are in an island that you don't know, and that has nothing but hostile environment and scavengers that would rather attempt to rob you and seek for scraps.

Added DiffLines:

* BaseBreakingCharacter: Max is a pretty divisive rival. While most people agree they're a jerk, there's a split in regards to how much of a jerk they are. Some people consider them a "love to hate" character, but others feel Max is too much of a jerk and would prefer they be rewritten or cut from the game entirely.

The fans cite features - such as a full-region MMO (unlike ''Sword and Shield'' and its Wild Area, which limits most MMO features to briefly interacting with other players and seeing other players traveling through the world), removing the [[LuckBasedMission critical hits, missed attacks, and debuffs that can shift a multiplayer game into another's favor]], and the responsiveness of the developers — to be a big plus over ''Pokémon''.
