*ChatharsisFactor: For those who hated him for his increasing sociopathic and *Jerkass behavior, Charmander getting [[spoiler: blasted with water and called out on his behavior by Squirtle, and then stabbed by Caterpie in chapter 9 was nothing short of cathartic. ]] Even more so with his[[spoiler: being confirmed *KilledOffForReal in chapter 10]] was nothing short of a relief.

Moving to the main page with a different trope: Ridiculously Cute Critter

* {{Moe}}: Bulbasaur. His endearingly innocent nature, present even when Charmander is causing havoc, caused him to win the adoration of many fans.
%%** Sandshrew as well.

If it's in-universe, then it's not YMMV.

* TooBleakStoppedCaring: An InUniverse example of the Viridian Forest Arc. [[spoiler: By the time of Episode 10's flashback, Squirtle had grown apathetic to the violence and bloodshed after [[DecoyProtagonist Charmander's death]], becoming numb and blindly obedient to the Caterpie Leader to cope with the loss of his two companions ([[IChooseToStay Bulbasaur content with being the Caterpies' prisoner didn't help]]), and committed to the brutal war for Viridian Forest. [[WarIsHell The war resulted in the complete destruction of the Viridian Forest, and the Caterpie side reduced to just Squirtle and the Caterpie Leader]], [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone who realized too late that their atrocities were ultimately pointless and turned Squirtle into a]] SociopathicSoldier, and released Squirtle to attempt to atone for their sins. Not to mention that [[BreakingTheFellowship due to the dissolution of the Starter Squad]], [[UncertainDoom this left Mewtwo alone to deal with MissingNo, who was ravaging Kanto]].]] The fact that Episode 10 picks up [[TimeSkip ten years later]] [[spoiler: in Sinnoh]] and Squirtle doesn't talk about what happened next doesn't help.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Chimchar's outbursts of anarchy, for no other reason than because he can, make him hard to like for sure, and he's generally just more of a douchebag than Charmander ever was. [[spoiler: His offscreen death, which is played for sympathy, can feel cathartic since he was potentially even more bloodthirsty and savage than Abomasnow ever was. A classic example of the bastard had it coming.]]

* UnexpectedCharacter: No one was expecting Mewtwo of all Pokemon to appear in Episode 8. [[spoiler: The inclusion of Generation IV Pokémon in Episode 10 also counts, since the previous episodes had only used Generation I Pokémon]].

The series has a Nightmare Fuel page. Moving to that page.

* NightmareFuel: Anything with [[EldritchAbomination MissingNo]].
** The crowning moment so far is in Episode 8, when [=MissingNo=] shows [[spoiler:[[BigBadWannabe Haunter]]]] what [[AndIMustScream true horror]] [[TheAssimilator is]].
** Even after seeing [[spoiler:Haunter]] become assimilated[[note]]granted, he thought this was [[MasterOfIllusion one of Haunter's tricks]][[/note]], Charmander [[TooDumbToLive attempted to charge straight into MissingNo]]. He was no more than an ''inch'' away from being assimilated before [[spoiler: Mewtwo]] [[BigDamnHeroes pulled him away]].
** On a side note, Haunter was pretty frightening himself, putting on a spectular entrance as a [[DemonHead gigantic demon]]. Unfortunately, Charmander [[FailedAttemptAtDrama spoils the moment]].
** [[spoiler: [[FluffyTheTerrible Snow, a.k.a.]], [[BotanicalAbomination the giant Abomasnow that stands between the final ascent of Mt. Coronet and Spear Pillar]]. He's a ruthless guardian devoted to Arceus, [[YouShallNotPass and will not let ANYONE disturb the gods]], killing anybody who refuses to back off. Just ask Chimchar]]
