* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Made at that point in TheSeventies when UFO conspiracy theories, Ancient Astronaut speculation, Space Operas, and JazzFusion in film soundtracks were all massively popular.

* NightmareFuel: The suicide epidemics, when we see several bodies lying on the ground with puddles of blood streaming from their heads. Later on, the scene where is VERY disturbing. Whatever Narm Charm the movie had until that point is thoroughly washed away.

* Narm: The film wants to be a mix of a SpaceOpera and a more humane FirstContact yarn, but instead it's a campy Melodrama with cheap special effects, oddball alien costumes, weird little details like the aliens communicating by telepathy, and a general cheesy atmosphere of that reeks of TheSeventies. It very nearly got chosen for Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 and finally got featured on Podcast/Rifftrax years later. But as mentioned below, the suicide subplot is dark, and brings some major MoodWhiplash into the film.

The cheap special effects, oddball alien costumes, weird little details like the aliens communicating by telepathy, and the general cheesy atmosphere of TheSeventies make it entertainingly campy. But as pointed out above, the suicide subplot is rather dark and takes away some of the fun.

As a Sugar Wiki item, moving to its own subpage.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: [[spoiler:After spending nearly the entire film broken, the android repairs himself, walks through the base's corridors, approaches a Legion member from behind and knocks him out with ridiculous ease (reporting "Enemy eliminated."). He then switches a few buttons in the control room, reprogramming the enemy vessels from distance and causing them to collide with each other in huge explosions. There you go, the entire enemy fleet destroyed by a single man... well, machine.]]
