* FanonDiscontinuity: Often regarded as the worst episode since "[=SpongeBob=] You're Fired" due to including elements from the worst seasons such as Patrick's jerkiness and Squidward torture.

* JerkAssWoobie: Squidward. Sure he made fun of Patrick's lemonade stand and even threw a piece of lemon at his eye but despite that he didn't deserve to get tortured to death by him considering that was too much even for him. Add to the fact that the episode ends with him consuming a cookie that contained spider eggs makes his ButtMonkey portrayal in this episode even more harsh and torturous to watch.

Who said any of this was unintentional?

* UnintentionallySympathetic: Squidward's tortured by Patrick throughout the episode as punishment for him making fun of his lemonade stand at the beginning of the episode but yet despite that the abuse he gets was too much even for him considering that Patrick goes out of his way to torture him just to use his ink in order to make more black lemonade. Add to the fact that he suffers even more trauma at the end when he consumes a cookie that contained spider eggs makes him even more sympathetic despite him making fun of Patrick at the beginning.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Patrick wants to use Squidward's ink in order to make more black lemonade. However his methods to get more ink comes across as cruel and torturous considering that he goes out of his way to scare and torture Squidward in order to get more ink from him. Add to the fact that he doesn't get any comeuppance for scaring and torturing Squidward makes him even more unlikable.

no proof bumpass or kaz hates it

* OldShame: Unlike other episodes from Season 11, Ink Lemonade was universally hated by fans because of the gross humor with Squidward's ink and the portrayal of Patrick. Creator/RodgerBumpass, Squidward's voice actor, also hated the episode, and Kaz also stated that he regrets writing it.

* DesignatedMonkey: Squidward is constantly tormented by Patrick throughout the episode. Considering the CharacterRerailment for both of them in the recent seasons, this brief sudden relapse is very jarring.

* BrokenBase: Is it a funny episode that brings meaning to a running gag and is a good use of a minor recurring character? Or is it unfunny, boring, and kills the joke?

* BrokenBase: Is "My Leg!" a funny episode that brings meaning to a running gag and is a good use of a minor recurring character? Or is it unfunny, boring, and kills the joke? "Ink Lemonade" on the other hand...
* DesignatedHero: Patrick in "Ink Lemonade", who not only relapses back into his [[TookALevelInJerkass more abrasive and malicious personality]] from the show's DorkAge but arguably ends up being even worse; he is shown to be fully aware of what he's doing to Squidward the whole time instead of being oblivious to it and never receives any comeuppance nor does he realize he was wrong and apologize for it (which isn't helped by Squidward doing NOTHING to deserve the torment Patrick puts him through). It's especially glaring as the post-''Sponge Out of Water'' episodes [[CharacterRerailment had largely done away with Patrick's widely-hated dork age personality]], so to see said personality flare up again here left the show's fanbase baffled.
