Cleanup. Requires not just ignoring characters they don't like, but they still have a large presence in the fandom. They just ignore him. And no redirecting to other parts of the page.

* TheScrappy: Garrison Klum is quite hated, with many fans just [[FanonDiscontinuity wishing he never existed.]] [[HateSink Although this was clearly the intention,]] this seemed to have worked a little ''too well'' as a lot of fans were so disgusted by someone like him appearing in a relatively light-hearted franchise such as ComicBook/SpiderMan that they turned off reading the story altogether. All in all, it feels like he would be more fitted to be an enemy of DarkerAndEdgier superheroes such as The Punisher or Daredevil rather than Spider-Man.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: As noted throughout the rest of this page, the retcon that Felicia was a rape victim and her becoming Black Cat was a reaction to that was seen as an unnecessary darkening of a previously light-hearted character.

* DontShootTheMessage: A Spider-Man story tackling rape is not inherently a bad idea. The comics have dealt with heavy topics like prejudice, poverty, addiction and abuse in the past. Unfortunately, the execution of this concept did it no favors; between the comic exploiting [[MaleGaze Felicia's figure for titillation]] and the retcon of her being a rape survivor feeling rather tacked on, audiences and critics came felt the story undermined its own message.

[[ADateWithRosiePalms other purposes]]. Many have pointed out this is in rather poor taste given the subject matter of the last three issues.

Removing an "execution sucks" PGP example and an UI example now that it is Flame Bait

%% * OvershadowedByControversy: Between the delays and the infamous rape retcon to Felicia's story, this series' reputation is not a good one among comic fans.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Some felt that a story depicting Felicia's rape origin could have been done well. Unfortunately, the retcon comes with a huge tonal shift from the first three issues which were relatively light-hearted and fun. Combined with the sexually-exploitative art of Felicia and the retcon comes across as being in very poor taste.
* UnfortunateImplications: [[http://www.chasingamazingblog.com/2014/06/25/black-cat-flashback-spider-manblack-cat-the-evil-that-men-do/ Much has been said about how poorly this comic tackled rape while sexually objectifying Felicia]].
-->...while this miniseries should hypothetically celebrate Felicia for talking so candidly about her traumatic experience, its sincerity should be called into question because it still manages to visually and verbally objectify the character. The cover image for the mini’s very first issue depicts Felicia’s breasts practically falling out of her leather catsuit, while she also reduces her previous relationship with Peter as the two of them “doing the nasty … nothing more.” To top it off, there are far too many Felicia fat jokes courtesy of Peter, which are not only cruel, but totally out of character for Spidey.

* {{Narm}}: The frequency of which Felicia is subjected to the MaleGaze in this story makes it very hard to take the sudden focus on rape seriously. A particularly ludicrous moment is a panel from issue #3 in which Felicia points to her cleavage while having what is supposed to be a tense argument with Peter over whether or not they should go after Garrison after discovering he is a murderer.
