His reason for all of this and trying to bring about the end times was because he was [[ForScience simply curious about the results]]. He was also highly emotionally abusive and controlling towards his daughter and made it very clear he no longer loved his wife. Nearing his defeat, he mutates himself into Germatoid just to allow his master the world. His daughter said it best, that the father that she loved had faded away long ago.

Implanted into young Hotaru Tomoe for a host body, Mistress 9 would feed off of her life force to eventually grow strong enough to take over completely. Mistress 9 would cause Hotaru to black out at times and would take over and do acts that caused her host to become an outcast to those around her, which culminated in murdering her goldfish. When she consumes Chibiusa's Pure Heart Crystal and successfully takes over, Mistress 9 kills [[TheDragon Kaolinite]] and manipulates Sailor Moon into giving her the Holy Grail by pretending to be Hotaru, using it to summon Pharaoh 90, the other leader of the Death Busters, to [[OmnicidalManiac destroy the Earth]]. When Pharaoh 90 attacks Mistress 9 and Hotaru starts to overpower her and take back control, she [[VillainousBreakdown becomes a raving lunatic]] who can't comprehend that the summoning backfired on her and that Hotaru wouldn't die.

Expelled from the scientific community for [[PlayingWithSyringes inhumane experiments]], Tomoe sides with an entity known as Pharaoh 90 and devours a Daimon Egg to completely swear loyalty after a lab accident killed his wife and critically injured him and his daughter Hotaru. When Pharaoh 90 gives him Mistress 9's Daimon Egg, he saves his daughter Hotaru's life not out of care but [[ForScience for the sake of science]]. * LGBTFanbase: A huge reason why this season, and Sailor Moon in general, became so popular with the LGBT community was it's positive portrayal of Sailors Uranus and Neptune. The two Outers were written as three dimensional characters with sympathetic goals while also having a healthy and inspirational relationship.
* MemeticMutation: Uranus and Neptune are "Cousins".[[labelnote:Explanation]]The Cloverway Dub infamously censored Haruka and Michuru's lesbian relationship, insistently referring to them as "cousins" to avoid [[HideYourGays any homoerotic subtext]], only to ironically end up with ''incestuous'' context instead, which is arguably even more controversial.
