* BetterThanCanon: Many who have read ''Saga'' feel that its take on Samus' early childhood and its portrayal of a cheerful but troubled, fierce but sweet, awkward but confident, and easily outraged by brave young Samus is much better than the Manga's more generic shounen protagonist esque Samus. Its take on Sylux is also almost universally agreed among the fans of Saga to be likely more interesting than anything Nintendo will come out with.

* ChaoticEvil: Ridley is a selfish murderous hedonist incapable of caring for any rules beyond what those few things he fears can threaten him with if he breaks. Incapable of things such as friendship, love, or even basic altruism, Ridley simply exalts in the carnage he causes.
* ChaoticGood: Samus's tendency to flagrantly disregard rules, regulations, norms, and most traditions if they get in the way of her desire to help and do good makes her this. She deeply cherishes freedom and wandering, and can't stand tyrants more than any other sort of bully.

* DyingMomentOfAwesome: Samus and Arne's parents go down swinging. Samus' mom giving brief pause to Ridley himself who defeated everything put in his way so far with ease while her father takes out his flagship and a huge chunk of his fleet in the process; severely injuring Ridley. Gyda and Erik take down thousands of RAID posthuman soldiers; each of whom is a more than three meter tall power suit clad {{super soldier}} who would manhandle a Space Marine with ease; and hold back Viper themselves for the time Spire's ship needs to leave Cylosis, letting Arne escape safely.

* LawfulEvil: Viper. They are a being obsessed with domination and control that cannot stand to see things outside of what they believe is its rightful place. Cruel and domineering but almost slavishly loyal to the chain of command, their organized, methodical tyranny stands in stark contrast to Ridley's gore-drenched antics.

* NeutralGood: Arne. He respects traditions and norms, but is happy to break them if they get in the way of overall justice. However it's also clarified that he's got a lean towards LawfulGood as he is big on his code of honor and is very deferential towards people he believes are supposed to have authority over him, to the point that Valiant says that whether Arne is Lawful or Neutral Good can be open to interpretation.
* DarthWiki/NightmareFuel: The razing of K-2L and Cylosis are written with the candor of nightmare sequences and Samus' first encounter with Ridley is nothing short of horrifying.
* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVsCynicism: Somewhere in the middle. While the universe is full of darkness and terrors and there are many bad things about it and some truly terrible people, there are also many incredibly good people as well as plentiful reason to hope for things to get better in the future.

* AdultFear: Featured prominently in the destruction of the colonies on K-2L and Cylosis, particularly having to choose between your own life and that of your child, knowing that the sacrifice you will make will leave them alone in the world for the rest of their lives.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: Samus and Arne, with significant assistance from a lost brigade of temporarily augmented Federation Marines, Spire, and Armaud manage to defeat the Moon Hunter and Sun Stalker who had up to this point been portrayed as virtually invincible in an insane melee that gives a glimpse of what progenitor combat is really like. Notably they achieve all this while only twelve years old.

* HilariousInHindsight: Zurvduat by sheer coincidence ends up hitting many similar plot threads to Raven Beak, the primary antagonist of Metroid Dread which wasn't even announced at the time of Saga's commencement.
