* AnimationAgeGhetto: This movie isn't considered for kids by the legal definition of the term; the target audience is mainly young teens. It was, however, rated PG because it was released before (as in, just a few years before) the PG-13 rating was established. This was also a major factor in the movie's financial failure. Its distributor, believing that an animated movie directed at teens and young adults wouldn't be successful, under-promoted it. The results didn't exactly prove them wrong.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Say what you want about [[DisneyAcidSequence the film in general]], but the soundtrack has some serious bops:

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The musical hologram sequence qualifies, as does Mok's VillainSong which turns out to be a dream, also worth noting he appears to be high once the latter finishes so that explains a lot.

** "My name is Mok." It's just so [[http://youtu.be/BJa0Zv5gHSU deliciously self indulgent.]]

** Mok was voiced (except when singing) by Don Francks. Along with being the first actor to voice Boba Fett (which he did in the ''Star Wars Holiday Special''), he is also the voice of Sabretooth in ''WesternAnimation/XMenTheAnimatedSeries''. Francks is also the reason that Dr. Claw sounded a little different in some of the 1980s ''InspectorGadget'' episodes, filling in for the very busy Frank Welker. His incarnation of Dr. Claw sounded a lot like Mok, especially in his more genial delivery than Welker's more scary Claw.

* RetroactiveRecognition: Mok was voiced (except when singing) by Don Francks. ** The [[CoolestClubEver Club 666]] scene itself is this in the original version. It's {{averted}} in the MGM version where it gets a brief mention at the climax.

* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Mok's facial structure, animated by Robin Budd, is one of the most complex ever designed for a character in an animated feature. His distinctive lips in particular are drawn flexibly and organically but in such a way that they never feel like they're floating in an arbitrary space as is the case with some other characters in the field. Even the notoriously finicky and hard-to-please Creator/JohnKricfalusi expressed admiration for Budd's work on Mok in a [[http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/2008/09/rock-n-rule-mok-robin-budd.html blog post.]]

* NightmareFuel:
** The way Angel is kidnapped, Mok has Toad press a button which causes the flower she is holding to sprout these flailing, grotesque, fleshy tentacle ''things'' that [[DoesThisRemindYouofAnything bare resemblance to a certain Male body-part, ]] which quickly rush towards her as the screen fades to black, it then shows Angel unconscious with Mok coldly looming over her. Not to forgot that [[TheScream scream]] Angel makes.

** The close-up of the dead mutant melting near the end of the mutant scene. Its head gives way and dissolves into an unrecognizable mess, two of its feet melt into triangular blobs, the torso's right side collapses and causes the head's remains to pour, all while blood oozes out of the torso. Angel seems appropriately horified and/or disgusted. Worth pointing out that one of its arms ''[[BodyHorror twists and curls into a tentacle]]'' for no explained reason.
** The scene where Mok tricks Omar into thinking that Angel fell for him is something out of a horror movie. Though, this movie debatably ''is'' one.
*** The JumpScare when Mok reveals himself, made worse by the build up to it.
*** The close-up of What's-Her-Face's mask.
** The scene where Mok tortures Omar, Dizzy and Stretch with lasers, with the screams of the aforementioned three and Angel's horrifying scream, Mok's sadism, and the fact that the torture temporary turns Omar, Dizzy and Stretch basically braindead. Though their behaviour when braindead might be CrossingTheLineTwice, the scene is still disturbing.
** Those monstrous fetus demon things which get spat out by the demon during "Pain and Suffering".
** [[EldritchAbomination The demon itself]] is a giant constantly shifting meaty looking abomination.
** Mok's face, especially the animation. His mouth movements especially have no connection to the rest of his face, or his words most of the time. Despite, [[CreepyAwesome or perhaps because of this,]] the complexity of his face is also admired. See SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome below.

* MemeticMutation: Mok's lips are the subject of quite a lot of memes, such as joking that half the film's budget was spent animating them or that they're basically a separate character themselves. Humorously, as detailed in VisualEffectsOfAwesome, both of these statements are technically true.

** Either this or FunnyAneurysmMoment, depending on your point of view. It's doubtful Mok was supposed to look like what Michael Jackson would look like later in life.

* CompleteMonster: The [[EvilOldFolks aging]], [[ItsAllAboutMe utterly self-absorbed]] rock singer [[{{Narcissist}} Mok Swagger]] intends to use the powers of an [[EldritchAbomination otherworldly demon]] to destroy his loyal fans for the crime of not loving him enough. Mok forces the female lead Angel to sing the song through which he intends to summon the demon by torturing her bandmates, threatening to kill them before her and smirking when he sees the torture leaves them as drooling vegetables. His first attempt to summon the demon foiled, Mok finally uses Angel's voice to summon the horrible demon onto a packed crowd at his own concert, gleefully watching it devour his fans and [[LackOfEmpathy apathetic even when the demon kills one of his loyal minions]].
