On the other hand, much of his controlling behavior towards Phillip is from his fear of being abandoned and losing the only family he has left.

*FridgeBrilliance: Also going along with FridgeHorror, but at one point in Butterfly, Celine's brother offered to take Janet on a motorcycle ride, with Celine saying absolutely not. While Celine was strict and wouldn't let Janet do anything that wasn't related to ballet, she was actually justified in this case. Don't forget, Celine had lost the use of her legs after a car accident where she forgot to wear her seatbelt, and motorcycling can be even more dangerous than driving much of the time.
