* InformedWrongness: The Misty Island logging operation has two log loaders. Thomas's decision to use Hee-Haw, the more fuel-intensive of the two, is presented as a bad decision, as Thomas says the same thing he says each time he makes a bad decision in the special. However, Old Wheezy, the log loader the Logging Locos wanted to use, is not only unreliable but also dangerous. Had Thomas swallowed his objections and used Old Wheezy, at best the trains would likely have had to try multiple times to get Old Wheezy to load the logs properly until it had used as much fuel as Hee-Haw anyway while wasting the lumberjacks' time and labor. At worst, someone could have gotten hurt. The only thing Thomas did wrong in this case was not having the Logging Locos refuel after using their oil to fuel Hee-Haw.

Never Live It Down is for characters only.

* NeverLiveItDown:
** Thomas telling Diesel that he's not useful because he's a Diesel.
** This entire special (and the very concept of Misty Island and its characters) became one for [=HiT=] Entertainment, as when Andrew Brenner came aboard as head writer in season 17, its characters fell to the wayside, with Ferdinand making a single FreezeFrameBonus cameo in the eighteenth season, while Bash and Dash, aside from a few learning segments, vanished without a trace. Misty Island itself, meanwhile, is almost never acknowledged, and even when it is, it's in a derogatory way.

"Idiot Plot" is now Flame Bait.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Despite the movie initially setting up the Search and Rescue team at the beginning, they're not used much at all, not even in the rescue mission for Thomas, with the Fat Controller deciding to use his [[IdiotPlot engines to search for and rescue Thomas instead, despite having a special team specifically built and dedicated for this kind of thing]].

* UnexpectedCharacter: Absolutely ''nobody'' expected Diesel 10 to show up...especially after all the fun was over. According to Nitrogen, that scene was inserted last-minuted by the creators.
