* EsotericHappyEnding: Aside from Lila getting the Butterfly Miraculous, the ending is presented as a happy one, with Monarch gone and everyone's lives becoming better. However, for all intents and purposes, Gabriel ended the season without answering for any of his crimes -- even with his death, he's achieved his main goal (getting to use a Wish), his son still loves him despite all of his abuse, the rest of Paris sees him as a hero and a martyr, and the only people who know he was Monarch aren't telling anyone for now. On top of that, Tomoe is still free to go through with her own plans (which unlike Lila doesn't even get mentioned). As such, many fans ended up seeing it as more of a BittersweetEnding at best.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The episode ends not only with Adrien never finding out that his father was Monarch, but him only remembering when he tried to be a good father, as per Gabriel's request to Marinette. A few fans found issue with this, believing that since the season had been working towards Adrien growing more and more independent of his father, it would've been more thematically appropriate for him to learn about Monarch and decide for himself how he would remember him.

** The writing team has made two debriefing videos for the two-parter S5 finale. They confirmed some of the white liés about Gabriel will be adresses in S6. Given the show's usually strong stance about lying, it's not so surprising.

** Gimmi makes it clear that EquivalentExchange is very much obligatory for their wishes, and Gabriel eventually wishes for both Nathalie and Emilie to be healed and restored. We already know he sacrificed himself, but who's the other person that got sacrificed?

It’s very confusing for two reasons: One, the elevator that lead down to the underground chamber in Gabriel’s mansion, which was established as being the only way someone with no powers could get in there, got destroyed in the big fight between Bug Noir and Monarch. Two, Lila wasn’t shown to have any equipment that could’ve allowed her to climb/rappel down the cataclysm-induced hole leading to the secret chamber that Marinette made earlier, so how did Lila even get down there? Keep in mind that Lila wasn’t even akumatized or had any miraculous with her, so she had no powers that could’ve helped her get down there faster either. All she was shown to have with her was her laptop, and basically nothing else.

* HilariousInHindsight: Chloe was frustrated about rarely being given the Bee Miraculous and grew too impatient. HER actions led to a chain of events that made Marinette give them to their holders permanently, Chloe being not one of them.
