* FranchiseZombie: LSL 8 and 9, which were created without Al Lowe's involvment.

** A fair bit of the older games' humor has become uncomfortable at best and outright offensive at worst, particularly the jokes made at the expense of LBGTQ people in general and trans women in particular (like the extended riff on ''Film/TheCryingGame'' in ''Shape Up or Slip Out'', a gag that was repeated almost verbatim in ''Magne Cum Laude''). Larry has also "turned women gay" at various points throughout the series, which is a very outdated view of female sexuality (though in [[FairForItsDay fairness]], this is almost always presented as a positive development in the lives of the women in question, especially since they're better off without Larry in their love life).

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: The last two games are much less subtle in their sexual humor, include less adventure elements, more mini-games and the latter installment uses ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAuto''-based gameplay.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: Don't let the cartoony box art fool you. This game is PURELY intended for adults, with LOTS of raunchy moments.

* HarsherInHindsight: Jeffrey Tambor voicing a womanizer like Larry in ''Box Office Bust'' becomes this after he was accused of sexual assault by several women.

** A large part of any game involves Larry doing favors for women with the expectation that he'll be rewarded with sex; this might make Larry look a little too much like a [[WantsAPrizeForBasicDecency "Nice]] [[EntitledToHaveYou Guys"]] to some players[[note]]Though it's worth noting that the women themselves are usually the ones [[SexforServices offering sex]], Larry usually doesn't get it, and he ends up looking like a fool for being so easily (and repeatedly) manipulated[[/note]].

* ReplacementScrappy: Many fans feel that Larry Lovage is an inferior substitute to his uncle Larry Laffer.

There is a reason most players tend to choose her as the final girl in the game.

* ValuesDissonance: The mandatory encounter with [[spoiler:Shablee]] in LSL 6 is a particular kind of BlackComedy that wouldn't really swing after the year in which it was released, except in more "hardcore" adult humor venues like ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' or ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark''. [[spoiler:It revolves around a combination of UnsettlingGenderReveal, BlackComedyRape, and DoubleStandardRapeMaleOnMale, with Shablee revealed as actually being a {{transvestite}}[[note]]some fans think trans-woman, but the design document assert Shablee is a cross-dressed gay man[[/note]], something that causes Larry to start spitting and gagging in disgust, before s/he implicitly rapes him off-screen. * TearJerker: For some, flushing the toilet while Drew is showering in LSL 7. This is especially jarring because Drew was probably the nicest of the girls Larry interacts with and was genuinely interested in him and seeing her leave Larry like that [[YouBastard makes you feel rather cruel for doing so]]. Too bad you [[CrueltyIsTheOnlyOption have to do this]] so you can [[ItMakesSenseInContext get mold for your kumquat quiche recipe]]. It really makes you wish the programmers put in an option to apologize to her later on for bonus points.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: LSL 2 only has Larry on a cruise ship for long enough to escape his AbhorrentAdmirer roommate. LSL 7 revisits this general setting to give it the attention it deserves.
