To make matters worse, despite being a murderer he is an ordinary teenager, friendlier than average, and very cooperative in the case even though he knew it would probably destroy his life, all with a big smile on his face. There is no sense of satisfaction in seeing him get caught, it is by no means a good ending, but also, there is no indication that he would have gotten justice any other way.
